  • what happened to the bell that 425 had

  • @Strasburg1991 Probably in storage at the R&N.

  • @yourweathertodayHD i hope they put it back on 425 one day

  • @Strasburg1991 That's up to Mr. Muller.

  • this was the only good thing that ever happened at steamtown in scranton.

  • @shininghappyperson7 You've got to be kidding me, right?

  • @yourweathertodayHD not really this was the only thing that really had alot of resemblance of a "steamtown" with more than one locomotive , i thought steamtown USA was better, only because they had more steam locomotives ,and they ran in some areas that locomotives in their hey-day would have run. i was exagerating but i mean nine times out of ten they are running a trip with diesels, dont get me wronge i love old diesels with great paint schemes, but i mean thats not what people are there for.

  • @shininghappyperson7 You have no idea. The Grand Opening had the most steam locomotives, sure. I'll give you that. Steamtown U.S.A. did not have many funds to operate their locomotives-it took them literally every resource they had to get one or two of their locomotives in steam. When a locomotive came up on inspection time, they let it sit, because they couldn't afford the repairs. Steamtown has less operating, but they have been since the park opened. You try doing that.

  • @yourweathertodayHD if i am understanding what you are saying, is that because they have this extra park with a whole other fleet of locomotives that need cosmetic keep up and restoration ,and so many other buildings with bunches of people working there, that they don't have enough money to run their locomotives? that sounds right, One major reason they brought steamtown there, was to create jobs for people, correct? on a different note,do u know if steamtown sold #3713?

  • @shininghappyperson7 Kid, before you start shooting your mouth off and asking ridiculous questions/making ridiculous statements, do your homework. Steamtown was created in 1986 after the Steamtown Foundation began to go under. Their mission is to tell the story of railroading in this country-live steam is only part of that equation. They have a meager budget, which has to be split everywhere-salaries, utilities bills, coal, water, maintenance, and locomotives. Steamtown was

  • @shininghappyperson7 not brought to Scranton to create jobs. And go research the 3713 yourself, I'm not answering any more silly questions.

  • @boberttrain831, I might be going to railcamp either 14' or 15' so hopefully I'll see 3713, 3254, and 26.

  • I have this video in my favorites and every now and then I'll watch it... It's amazing to actually realize how many steam engines were operating at once. Try to get 6 operating steam engines at one place today... what a rare site. I would love to see 425 up in Steamtown in the near future... a tripleheader with 2 other 4-6-2's.. (3713 & 2317).. I guess one can only dream.

  • I never knew that the Shay ever ran at Steamtown.

  • @m611martin not the same one they have there of course ;)

  • @m611martin i know the way it looks now no one could tell!

  • i wish i could have ben there!!!!!!!!!

    so much steam!

    nice video!

  • Yes, I'm a volunteer at Steamtown. I'm the Co - Volunteer Leader for Project 565 . Project 565 is the cosmedtic Restore of Delaware Lackawanna & Western Steam locomotive 2-6-0 No. 565.

One of Two that's still exsiting. The other is in St. Lou. MO. 4-4-0 Camel Back No. 920.

  • 3713 has a long road a head of her before she gets done, we might be talking 2014 before she's compleated.

    Len.

    Steamtown Volunteer

  • 2014, good! I'll be graduating high school that year and i'll be going to railcamp that year. with any luck, 3713 will be running!

  • I was surprised to see 261 meet up with the 142, 3254, 2317, 26, and 425!!!

  • yea, about

  • Oh wow amazing video man!! I loved it!! It was awesome seeing 3254 and 425 teamed up near the end! And that triple header! Wow what a beautiful scene!

  • they need 759 in this video

  • oh if only...sadly I dont see that happening any time soon..if ever

  • yea

  • I visited that area last summer. Loved it up there!

  • I hope she's up by 2010 for the NRHS Convention. I hope all four are in running condition by then. 2317 is by far the better looking engine for excursions, 3254 is fine, 3713 would be amazing, and i just love 26

  • put more videos on please.

  • Alright here's the deal everyone. I just obtained the Mark I "Canadian Pacific 2317 and Steamtown's CPR Pacifics" DVD. If you would like parts of this put up on youtube, just let me know.

  • I would

  • well they criticize them for running Canadian locomotives, inside theres nothing really different about them..and with the amount of funding they get, it came down to practicality..2317 was in excellent and operable condition, and when 2317 was down for repairs they bought an in excellent condition 3254(temporarily known as 1271)...i have no problem with it..either way, its a rare thing

  • Who owned the shay? Where did it come from?

  • I believe Lowville and Beaver River Railroad owned(owns?) it...I could be wrong though...I also believe they owned Steamtowns No. 1923, the Consolidation in storage near the old Scranton Iron Furnaces

  • That's the correct owner

  • they dont own the 1923. Steamtown does. It just happens to the be a L&BRRR engine

  • wow. the grand opening. cool. hey, i didn't know they owned the 261 and 425. i knew they had those canadian engines and that little pennsylvania engine but i didn't know they had three others. like i said- cool!

  • they dont own 261 and 425. They do own the two operational Canadian Locos, CP 2317 and CN 3254. They also own Baldwin Locomotive Works 26. 425 and 261, along with 142, were just visiting, although both, or at least 261, stayed for an extra year.

  • 142 left after the parade of steam. that night actually

  • we can only hope! They have all the parts i guess, it's just putting them back together that is hard i guess...

  • I'm not entirely sure, but I believe 3713 will sport an identical whistle to what 425 is wearing in this video, a Boston & Maine 6 chime.

Also, I complete agree with the comentator at 3:57 about the whistel.

  • that would be awesome it it does! I dont care if its the dead of winter, I will buy a ticket and go when they have the first run! And the commentator was completely right when he said that!

  • i got a question. what whiste does 3713 have

  • im actually not sure, keep asking around...I also want to know what whistle 2317 has..

  • you meant 2713. got it

  • well, yea i do want to know what one 3713 has, but i also want to know what type 2317 has;)

  • Great shots of 425!!

  • i loved it when it looked like that

  • At the end, does Steamtown still have the geared engine?

  • oh, no, it was a visiting loco

  • Ok. Thanks.

  • no problem :D

  • any one have video of 261 in lackawanna lettering

  • Yeah, I'd like to see that. There's a short clip of her in Lackawanna lettering at the end of the Steamtown Grand Opening video, and that was an add for a movie about the 261

  • They do have a shay at steamtown. it just doesnt run

  • thought so.

  • It belongs to CP Rail...they have used it about4x in the last 2 years for special excursions. It's 15 miles from Scranton.

  • I think i'll have to buy this vid 1 day...how long is it?

  • a little over an hour i think...

  • Yeah, they do.

  • Awesome stuff dude.

  • thanks, Goodheart does an amazing job..
