  • When I was growing up, this was THE transformer to have. Everyone in the neighborhood wanted one.

  • Comment removed

  • haha, I got that for christmas in like 88 or 89 or so. totally remember the commercial... oh memories... :)

  • Of all the old Transformers Toys I owned when I was younger the one I want to get back the most: Generation 1 Optimus Prime

  • lol press 3 for porn

  • actually they did do an updated version of G1 megatron (you can view the specs on the Seibertron website) complete with energon mace, lightsaber from the animated movie, and full transformation capabilities with all the atachments. unfortunately, due to some law prohibiting the production of realistic looking toy guns, it was deemed illegal to sell in american markets

  • see, back then, they were made of metal and were barely articulated. now they"re every grade of plastic and can actually take a pose.

who says they didn't age well?

  • he called octomis a deacepicon leader

  • he called octomis

  • If you're wondering who the guy that came out of the sun was, that was the first Megatron.

  • @KoopaTroop90

would be interesting if they finally released a toy verson of the First Megatron

  • When I was a kid I really wanted to punch that kid, and I am very peaceful.

  • Thumbs up if you noticed there's not a single bad kid in every Transformers commercial.

  • ew that kid is disgusting!

  • After all these years I finally have Optimus Prime 25th aniversery edition remake. Found it at Wal-Mart.

  • Is that kid a congressman now?

  • since when did Mattel start making Transformers?

  • they have 2 ruin that commercial with that stupid kid!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TIllAllAreOne100 AGREED

  • you idoit it is not from mattel it is from hasbro

  • The kid did this commercial to help pay for dental work on his gnarly teeth.

  • that kids looks fucked up, i mean fucked up like he fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, why did g1 commercials always have fucked up looking kids

  • Wow, we going way back! The more I see G1 Transformer toy cartoon commercials the more I noticed how they didn't make any sense. How are they gonna have 2 Megatrons in the commercial? One was the "traditional" design in the other was probably the "orginal" design of Megatron.

  • 0:10 look it's the original Megatron design!

  • @Phantom9252 Yeah, weird.

  • Gen-X Optimus Prime kicks ass. I hate Gen-Y Optimus Prime, he's all looks and no transforming.

Gen-X O.P.: Hey look it's a truck driving down the freew... OMFG IT TURNED INTO A ROBOT.

Gen-Y O.P.: Hey look a faggy robot... OMFG IT'S STILL A FAGGY ROBOT.

  • MAN HOW I MISS MY OLD TOY , punk ass little brother just had to brake it

  • Mattel?? WTF

  • in the 25th anniversary season one disk set the kids face is censored

  • @ganon1994 a shame huh..... he grew up and figured that his teeth were fucked up

  • The Original Optimus Prime is real cool and a must for all Transformers fans.

  • 0:10

    That's... not Megatron.

  • @MarioPeachYoshi64

...what the fuck IS that thing?

  • @i8246i

    Toy-accuracy! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  • Being an adult sucks compared to this awesomeness!

  • i had one. was the envy of all my friends back then. lol. and it was made properly. wasnt enrirely plastic, metal cab body and rubber tyres. couldnt get much better back then

  • Damn... the 80s, miss that era so much just by looking at this and the reason for that is im trying to think what the hell happend when I had lost my G1 Optimus Prime??? I was maybe 4 or 5 at the time when I had it but it still buggs me till this day but years down the line xmas of 94 was one of the best xmas I ever had as a kid when I opened my first present and BAM!! Optimus Prime G2 and I was in amazement that I got it again without asking for it as much AHH MEMORIES

  • @MrGetemGone Amen!

  • 00:19 its ronald mcdonald

  • I remember when this commercial came out in 1983-84.

  • Ah, the memories. Prime was the first one I ever got.

  • HONORED to say i had 1!!! oh how i miss the 80's and 90's!!!

  • Its me!

  • who was the decepticon who shot a..... blue fireball? when prime was in truck mode ( & I mean the toy)

  • The Decepticon who shot a blue fireball is the concept version of Megatron (seen in the Microchange catalogs before his release).

  • that was megatrons early design notice a different head

  • well I thought it was a diffrent Decepticon

  • That's Megatron who is the Decepticon who shot a blue fireball in this commercial.

  • I could only dream of ever getting this toy. Always sold out. Setlled for Jetscream.

  • Jetscream? You mean Starscream.

  • you dont get toys like this now

  • They got reissues, you know..

  • lol they are not the same. hasbro got rid of all the cool gimicks from them

  • You can still get the Japanese Takara reissues like the Transformers Encore.

  • well the japanese make way more better toys designs so i guess i might pick another reissue up... (i have a g1 prime)

  • The Hasbro reissues have longer missiles, most of the weapons are NOT chrome, and Prime and Magnus both have shorter smokestacks.

  • meh dont forget the disabled roller gimmick on prime!

  • @digioverlord Well, I got the 25th Anniversary Optimus Prime back in Christmas '08, and it has a working Roller gimmick...

  • Look at how Megatron is drawn at 0:11.

  • This is not the original Prime commercial. The original is where it shows Prime as a truck and StarScream flies pass his and then Prime transforms.

  • That wa g2 Prime commercial at 1992.This is commercial from 1980+.

  • Starscream wasn't in the G2 commercial, that was Ramjet in the CGI segment being attacked by Prime..

  • For some reason my older bro hates this part at 00:17

  • I had this when I was really young (around 4 or 5 years old) and when I saw the movie where Optimus died, I cried and buried the toy in our backyard somewhere (I took it seriously as a kid lol). . .man thinking about what i did seems kinda funny now. . .

I still have the toy though. . .standing still in my room--lot of scratches and the paint's all runny. . .I lost the gun too. . .but yeah it's still there. . .watching this commercial threw me back in the place again.

  • i would try to get a new 1 in mint condition but thats jsut me lol.i realy couldit deal with all the staratchs and not haveing the gun it would bother me alot

  • your not the only one who ever did that! too funny. cried and buried. shit!!

  • Daaamn! A lil before my time sadly. I got the G2 prime in the very early ninties with the black trailer and voicebox thing. Sadly I lost the fists about 5 minutes after opening the damn thing christmas morning!

Even though his legs are all loose and floppy now he's still one of my favorite old transformers. Thanks for posting this!

  • The best part is how Megatron actually got animated using his original Marvel Comics model, but pretty jarring considering they show the standard cartoon Megatron a second earlier. The only other place you'll see that Megs is in the first 4 Marvel comics, and the Marvel Transformers Universe character guide.

  • hasbro not mattel

  • Any REAL 80's kid never kept a transformer in a box! LOL! I'm 30 years old now and i will tell you it was impossible then. We wasn't thinking collectible at the time, we was thinking let's have some damn FUN!

  • I wish i kept mine in the box. LOL!!! Them damn toy was tooo cool to be kept in a box.

  • mattel? no

    is of hasbro

  • I remember these old TF commercials and the creepy kids!! Optimus rules!!

  • creepy kids??? I wasn't around when transformers made their debuts all I know is at least they had commercials, I never remembered anything for beast wars.

  • The Creepy kids as I liked to call them were in these Transformers commercials who got in your face saying " Robots in Disguise" all robotic like and their eyes glowed green or red and some one I remember transformed into Ultra Magnus!!

  • anyone have primes fists still??

  • still have every accessory for my prime even the original box

  • The one I'm talking about is the Optimus

Prime from that weak ass Transformers Cybertron series from 2006 that had Optimus Prime as a futuristic truck with wings and Megatron as a weak as formula-1 race car that can fly.

  • I remember having him. Now i have a reissue and the 25th anniversary prime. Best optimus prime toy ever made. Looking at it brings back good memorys.

  • I think that the Cybertron Optimus Prime was the best Optimus Prime toy because it was one of 2 Optimus Prime toy's that had a removable matrix of leadership, excellent points of articulation, the gun was pretty cool, it ran on batteries, and it

wasn't over done or under done it was just right. Don't worry I'm an old schooler

probably just like you but the Cybertron version (2006) Prime is the best in my book.

  • Im a old classic guy so thats why i like the first optimus prime toy like this one. The one i think your talking about is a larger size one that came out couple years ago right with no back? I have that one too still in package unopened. That is a nice one also.

  • Cybertron Prime is nice but I will always prefer the original. I feel Cyb OP was a touch overdesigned, and his flying mode was rather strange. Never was a fan of Prime being a fire truck either, that's Inferno's job.

  • well its better then him being a pickup truck

  • @layouts77 take inferno out of the equatipn and let it sink in for a few years

  • @layouts77 how about cybertron's megatron?

I mean sure, he could never have the same flare G1 megatron had, but I really liked his personality more (and he was more badass with his armor of unicron) ,

mostly because unlike G1 megatron, he had a sense of honor and pride (where as the old megatron was a coward at times)

  • @layouts77 Do you mean just the vehicle mode or do you mean to say that both Prime's vehicle and robot designs are inferior.

  • Back in 84, and before I really knew what the Transformers were,I remember thinking as a kid, that Optimus had to be the leader, just by the way they animated him jumping into battle. It was way too heroic and cool.

  • sweet

  • My car transforms into a carbon spewing death machine. YEAH!

  • fucking cunt bags took thenm out of the package now they are worthless!!

  • well if they hadnt they would still be worthless they are valuble in the box because of the rareity to find one in the box they were childrens toys after all

  • true and that and because they dont make toys like that like they used to :p

  • it's hasbro not mattel u wrote it wrong in the description

  • i got my G1 prime in the mail today he is the best transformer ever nuff said

  • omg i hate how badly they try to match with the words...can they just whisper it to themselfs instead of just opening and closing there mouth

  • that kid had fuked up teeth lol

  • @haimanchandra1993 His teeth looked like they were transforming.

  • @haimanchandra1993 this kid did this commercia so his parents could afford braces

  • @mcmetolhead That kid is my uncle. He is a very successful lawyer now. HOW DARE YOU POKE FUN AT HIM!

  • @flukes777 your uncle reminds me of a drunk pirate

  • @mattTd7 you wont be saying that after i sue your ass........oh its on now bitch.

  • Ronald McDonald hairdo at 0:19

  • lol "attack the autobot commander call the Deceptican leader" and then prime is like flying in the air

  • Yeah....dude is running for his life.

  • YEAH!...like,

  • i have an older optimus prime

  • Actually, it's Hasbro, not Mattel, OK?

  • Right!

  • The Hasbro logo at the end of this TV spot reminds me of the famous Mark VII Limited logo due to the hammer and stamp.
