  • Epic! Why does Canada get all the good stuff? I'd be really curious to see a more detailed parts list and/or an estimated total cost. ;D

  • I feel like the police just added you to a couple different watch lists...

  • Hey, here comes Vsauce, so watch it.

  • Here comes the vsauce faggots.

  • Thats wicked man!!!

  • I think you should reinforce the barrel.

  • @ludicer The first ~12" of the barrel (Where the pressure is expected to be highest) is reinforced with couplings, which gives it a double wall thickness. This has proven to be sufficient for all tested operating conditions.

  • @CanadianPyro1 This is unrelated to the video, but I was wondering where do you buy your sodium nitrate from?

  • Liking the 5/2 valve! You using oxy in these shots? The muzzle blast at 2:05 is huge, never seen anything like it with MAPP gas.

  • @MrCrowley45 The last shot (With the huge muzzle blast) was fired back when the launcher was configured to run on oxygen and propane, and it used (IIRC) 14.7PSIG air, 14.7PSIG oxygen, and 28.4% propane. This puts the preignition atmosphere at around 43.2% oxygen, or about double the concentration found in ambient air.

  • WTF... That's awesome! What projectile did you use? And you used a compressed mix of air and propane, right? Have you tried to measure the muzzle velocity of that canon with your regular projectiles?

  • @wandererstraining The cannon uses a compressed mixture of air and propylene, sometimes with additional oxygen added. The projectiles in the video are marble/BB shotgun rounds and D cells wrapped in tape. I haven't attempted any velocity measurements, but my guess is that the lighter weight rounds are at least into the transonic range.

  • @CanadianPyro1 Cool! Thanks a lot for sharing! How long does it take to compress the mixture and recharge?

  • @wandererstraining With an air compressor, only a few seconds. With a manual track pump, roughly a minute.
