  • The Utility does not reimburse the customer for kW put back into the grid. At least not in California they don't.

A lot of NET Energy Metering customers here have a second meter to meter kW produced by their arrays and some have meters that record all negative that is returning to the utility. In Cali private residences are not allowed to generate over a certain amount of kW without being declared as a generating facility which would get expensive on permits and licensing.

  • @camsixseven well , that is somewhat true , for intance there is a law that states that the pwr co MUST buy back any pwr produced by solar but it cannot exceed pwr purchased from pwr co. so u will not get MONEY back but will get a credit on your bill. systems must run full bore for contracted time of 20 yrs must be under 10kw in residences.while most people have old mechanical meters they are not calibrated or tested to run bkwds. a solar customer should request a net meter be installed.

  • Nice1 good to see the energy company paying the customer for once!!
