  • Still WAY better than anything JJ (The Stuttering Idiot, TV prducer) Abrams could ever come up with!

  • @Actionguy1 nostalgia is like putting cocaine infused meth balls in your mouth and that it makes you say stupid things.

  • Jeffrey Hunter(Captain Pike)played Jesus in the 1961 film"King Of Kings"if anyone cares.

  • Pike strikes me as a no-nonsense guy who refuses to put up with anybody's crap for too long.

  • Actually it wasn't Pike either.

    ... Technically.

  • I really wish they would come out with the Cage remastered on DVD without the whole set. It stands alone as a great work by itself. Or maybe pairing it with "Where No Man Has Gone Before".

Oh....and Jesus loves you...but not gays, straights, hindi, muslims, over opinionated fan boys, attention deficited high schoolers, fat kids, spammers, and the occasional emo...

  • I saw this remastered version on TV, but they cut all the good parts out. :-((

  • Just saw this on Sunday on TV. Still great. Ed

  • The remastered version aired Sun. on KTLA 5 in Los Angeles. Of course, scenes were cut out so that it would fit into the TV timeslot. But what bothers me is that they cut out the very same scenes that were cut out when they originally made "The Menagerie." They should have cut different scenes so that the fans could see the missing scenes. Additionally, they used the Keeper's voice from the "The Menagerie" rather than the original voice he had for "The Cage." They did it wrong.

  • great episode. great remastering work i bet. and no, they cant prove it.

  • Hey guys Jesus loves you and died for all your sins

  • Can you actually prove that?

  • hey zero...

    fuck you.

  • fagget jesus was a buddhist

  • I'm sure, Hey look the Tooth Fairy!

  • Belief can not change facts. Facts can change belief. Ed

  • whats jesus got to so with star trek? stop spaming dude...

  • Not talking to you idiot.

  • Some guy brought Jesus up. I agree it should not be here, but had to set him straight ,just like I'm setting you straight. I'm a man, not a dude surfer boy.

  • im a man, not a boy, granpa

  • I have this episode and I love it, I can barely wait to watch the remastered edition. Congratulations!

  • i am a Narcissist im just so mutch hoter that the other guys and i put them down im one of the beautiful people.

  • I'm proud of you.

  • About time they came up with something origional - ha, ha, ha! This actually looks pretty cool! A great episode plot, now with up to date special effects...looks like a winner.

  • FALL ASLEEP FAST!! No pills. Just watch Lullabye on my channel and fall right asleep.

  • Rally a zinger --- You- you -you heterosexual.

    Oh gosh, I'll swoom

  • So what you are saying bass109 is that you are evil because your post is so random and off topic?

  • To Mantran234 below: If you don't like something, please don't say that it is "gay". How would you like it if everytime I saw something I didn't like, I called it "heterosexual"?!

Don't be a gay PC nazi or I will have to beat you with a giant vagina.

  • faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag

    Get off my internets

  • The video clip above shows scenes which aren't even in the TV syndicated version. For instance, the scene where Pike fights the beast on Rigel 7 is missing. I also would have liked to have seen the scenes that didn't make it into "The Menagerie," such as where the other creatures in their cages is seen. Additionally, I wanted to hear the Keeper's original voice and not the one we hear in "The Menagerie."

  • can I ask you a stupid question- is this remastered version going to on tv, released at the theatre, online or what? I really want to see it and show it to my kids. thanks

  • sorry...

    watch?v=LYZOgO_hE3E

  • There is more camera movement in the computer animated remake, but it dosen't looks neither more realistic nor physical.

  • What's really ironic is that I just watched this full episode last night!

  • That's pretty darned ironic. Thank you for sharing that beautiful and moving story.

  • Did the UFP ever reconcile with those eggheads?

  • i think th show was kinda gay and boring i don't se how like a butch of people got into it but the movie looks really good

  • Jeffrey Hunter was a very fine actor-check out The Searchers as well as others. He died young about four years after this pilot which happens to be one of the best episodes in the series.

  • haha omg! information society... or well i mean it reminds me of them.

  • poor pike turned into a head on a machine, not much action for him. Thats why kirk did all the space snatch he could find.

  • Pike is cool but Kirk rules!

  • whats the point remastering it?

  • I like Pike fuck off!I hope something similar happens to you.

  • Fuuuuck Captain prick!!! I mean pike

  • i suggested this idea to the trekkie people 10 yrs ago. Where's my check?

  • very bad animation :D

  • Don't you mean very, very bad animation? Why not just watch Wesley in a TNG episode -a series you doubtlessly hold sacrosanct and would never dream of criticizing- instead of bashing a special episode airing later this evening?

  • Did they ever reconcile with those egg heads?

  • Comment removed

  • Is this goingto released as a dvd or what

  • christopher pike

  • Guys, this version was in the movie theaters about a year or so ago. And yes, it was the remastered version, too.

Thank God it was the remastered version because I spent twelve dollars a head to see this with my wife.

But it was great to see the classic S.T. Enterprise {NCC-1701} for the first time ever on the big screen. {and don't mention the refit Enterprise from The Motion Picture I'm talking about this version of the Old Girl}.

    Live Long and Prosper

  • I think that you're talking about the Menagerie two-parter. I saw it in theaters too and it was completely awesome.

  • Yes, that, too.

  • Wait...has this episode been approved by the TNG/ENT fanbase?

  • Beautiful colors! Where can this be seen?

  • I just hope they do the effects right this time. Most shots from the Remastered TOS episodes leaved much to be desired.Still,I have an open mind on this....it might end up being a really cool way to prepare for the new film.

  • I love it!

  • This is a long time in coming. Susan Oliver was the most beautiful woman to ever appear in Trek, IMO.

  • TV Spot: "The Enterprise's first captain wasn't Kirk." Quite frankly, neither was it Pike. Robert April first captained the Enterprise in several Star Trek novels. Overall, great TV spot for "The Cage" remastered. Please don't click the "poor comment" button. Thanks for uploading. Live long and prosper!

  • Except that novels are not considered to be canon material. As far as the writers and producers are concerned, those events never really happened. You have to keep that in mind.

However, you were correct in your thoughts. April was the first commanding officer the Enterprise had according to the novels.

  • TAS isn't canon either, according to Roddenberry and Paramount.

  • Yes, the first skipper of the NCC-1701.

  • Yes, Captain Jonathan Archer did commanded the NX-01, but in an episode of "Star Trek: The Animated Series", Captain Robert April was the first skipper of the NCC-1701.

  • @dondonp12004 Officially, novels aren't considered canon.

  • Way Kewl! Star Trek lives...again!

  • Wow, they really know how to make a trailer.

  • wicked!!

  • Coolness!

  • lol love it ! first ?
