@popace I think I played through a Gallien Krueger once and it was the MB 200 or something like that and it was ok. And I've heard of Genz Benz but the stores near me are pretty cheap and don't carry fancy names/brands such as so. But I can tell you that I have the MarkBass Tube 800, MarkBass 2x10 Traveler, and the MarkBass 1x15 and for what it's worth I couldn't be happier. I want a little more punch so I'm gonna sell my 2x10 for the 4x10 high output. Can't wait!!!
Uhh yeah, the Mark Bass is what I like to call the "punch amp" :) My friend has it, and it just rocks :)
I'm happy with my Hartke set aswell, though sometimes I just want a more deeper sound, the Hartke is pretty light in sound. But still pretty awesome. I played on Genz Benz only once though... They're hard to get, and they're expensive as hell. But once u have it, you pretty much have the thing :)
Although I'm looking forward on getting myself a Gallien Krueger set once... :)
@popace The MarkBass products are really nice and reliable. But Hartke are some nice amps man. I think Victor Wooten endorses Hartke and he came from Gallien Krueger. But yeah I was searching for some Genz Benz products and I heard that they are some monster products. I just have to go on a vacation and then hit the town for a hot spot music center ,eh? lol
But get that Hartke set and put some vids up man...I need some lessons as you can tell from my vids, lol!!!
@PoggiiBonsii What's so cool, is that most of the phrasing and expression is in his left hand. That's were he's doing all the slurs, bends, pull-offs and legato stuff. MM is "Mr. Slap Phrasing", to me. That's where you essentially take the tone associated with the slap style, and use it to phrase bass parts in sort of a "sax player" manner. You've got to have a pretty deep musical vocabulary (like him) to realy pull it off, though :-)
Hello, bass players. i have been searching the internet for a cheap and decent upright bass. i came across one called the Florea Midnight Bass Outfit(3/4 size black). if anyone could give me some feedback on it, i would greatly appreciate it. thanks.
And the great thing, they're all unique in their greatness - they're towering equals that require an eclectic soul to appreciate them all. You'll never find me among the single celled organisms touting one over the other based solely on the style of music I like most. Great is great, period.
Holy fuck! 0:42 when he does that trill and slide at the same time! Marcus has relatively simple bass lines compared to say Wooten or Stanley Clarke, but shit he can sex them up with some serious style!
@portraitofjaco86 Criteria like Complexity of lines are only for music-police nerds. Let your heart tell you what's good, it's what touches your feelings, not "oh man there are no lydian flat seven altered 17th lines in his lines"...
I dare to say Victor and Stanley use also great amount of pentatonics, and they have a much weaker tone caused by their massive use of bridge PU for my taste.
Marcus Miller feels the time like nobody..his pocket is just amazing, his groove and THE TONE!!!! he makes me want to grab my jazz bass and play each time. Thanks for all these fantastic years of music Marcus.
Mark Kind is garbage... Marcus Miller is recorded on OVER 400 Albums. I think that's probably for a reason. Jaco, Miller, and Wooten are my top three all-time bassists... Long live the Bottom End!!!!
I always see his 5 string MM jazz in the back, but I never see him play it! :0

personally, Vic wooten is a bit of a one trick pony.
Marcus has the tone and the taste. there is more soul to marcus than any other modern jazz bassist out there.
