After viewing this, I made my first hydrosol (sage & citrus) and it turned out really nice. Just add the zest of your favorite citrus with the sage. It made a really nice room spray for my living room and dining room.
I made this rosemary hydrosol and it turned out really nice, thank you guys for the great tutorial and sharing the idea! I actually used a slow-cooker a.k.a. crock-pot for mine, but followed all the other instructions. Just turned it on high and left it for a couple of hours. It smells great and is really refreshing.
I make mine with water, rose petals, sandalwood, and believe it or not, carrots! I use it on a daily basis by straying it on my face. It's a great pick-me-up!
Hi Annmarie and Kevin, i just whant too thank you for all the great information i get from your videos.I have been following your channel for some time from Norway, and i have learned a lot.I am not as healthy as you people are, but i am moving in the right direction!
cool! It's kinda like infused pure water? Not sure about the oil bit, I didn't think oil could evaporate (and if it did it'd be a higher temp? not sure I'm no scientist lol).
I've never heard of a hydrosol. It looks interesting to make. My first thought when you said you were going to use ice on the glass lid, was wouldn't that make the lid shatter, but guess not. (:
Hydrosols do contain essential oils. thats what keeps them lasting so long and what makes the medicinal. Freezing it would make it easier to seperate the essential oil from the water but that would also take away medicinal chemical compounds in the water. and freezing up the essential oil isnt very good for it because it will lose alot of its potent properties if you do that. when it comes to a good essential oil its best to use a distiller to keep it as potent as possible.
I looked into doing this a few months back! I made rose water and lemon water (using lemon peels). I bet adding rosemary water to a raw soup recipe would be delish! A lot of Moroccan recipes call for orange blossom water :-) I have a few bottles that I use for recipes and perfumes. Orange blossom is my favorite scent!
I've been making rosemary and using it on my hair for about 3 weeks now. Stopped using shampoo. Probably rinse my hair with the rosemary tea every few days or so and scrub my scalp with it. Seems to be working really well. I think sage would be another good hair cleaner. If it seems like there are some oily spots, I just use a little dr. bronners bar soap. I also mixed the rosemary with lavender.

Would this work with flowers? Do their scents hold up in the heat?
