As Keith Richards said about 32 tracks and the digital age. The human ear can only hear 8 tracks. I hate dolby and all the remastered gooblegop .
Why don't we remaster the Mona Lisa and fix the Leaning Tower of Pisa while were all at it ? Less is more. Hendrix and George Martin did what they did in the studio with technology from the 60s which sounds far superior then most recordings
P.S. Here is how you can tell the stereo version is normal speed: Paul's voice sounds natural, about like it sounds on Eleanor Rigby or most other Beatles songs that he sang in the same range. On the mono, again, he sounds like Mickey Mouse. Or like _The Fool on the Hill_, which was another speeded-up vocal (although they manipulated that one so that only the vocal would be speeded up, whereas with the mono SLH, they speeded up the entire mix.)
P.P.S. Also compare to Paul's vocal sound on _When I'm 64_, another where it is well-known that they speeded it up. WI64, TFOTH, and mono SLH sound distinctly like each other (in terms of Paul's vocal), and unlike most of Paul's other vocal output.
I hate to burst your bubble jcarty123, but the mono mix is actually the normal speed. The stereo mix of "She's Leaving Home" was mixed at a slower speed than the original recording and therefore plays at a slower tempo and at a lower pitch than the original recording.
@PhilmsMovies That is: In fact, the mono mix of "She's Leaving Home" was mixed at a faster speed than the original recording and therefore plays at a faster tempo and at a higher pitch than the actual performances that were recorded.
@aussietv2 okay full story the beatles record the song at this pitch and tempo they think it sounds horrible they agreed to slow the recording down however they FORGET but george martin remembered when doing the stereo mixes and thats why we hear shes leaving home the wrong way now a days PS lennon sounds like himself in this version check out the stereo version and see if he sounds like a mix between george harrison and james earl jones XD now tell that to jcarty123 LOL
Love this version. This is the way the Beatles ok'd the mix. Almost all of the stereo mixes up until the White Album where done with no input by the Beatles themselves. They spent time listening and offering opinions on the mono mixes but not on the stereo mixes. Mono all the way.
Some Beatles songs sound better in mono, and stereo. I prefur early Beatles early to mid 60's stuff in mono. White album and onward sound godo in stereo. I have yet to hear Abbey Road in mono. It was released in mono right?
@PearlJammer07 abbey road only not yellow submarine or let it be order the brazilian mono mix of abbey road there is no mono REMASTER PS i love the white album in mono magical mystery tour the the EH??????????????? for me
Personally I prefer the stereo version because I get the full effect of the phrasing of the song when they sing it, it's just my opinion but it is the most sincere-sounding piece of music in the whole entire Beatles catalouge and I always break down a little when I hear this timeless invention.

I love this song, it is lovely , great song

The stereo is better. The mono mix is so unnaturally speeded-up, it sounds like Mickey Mouse singing on a bad meth trip.
jcarty123 2 years ago
you mean the stereo version was slowed down.
The mono mix is normal speed

No. The stereo version is normal speed. The mono mix was speeded up. Speeded way, way, way up.
jcarty123 2 years ago
The Liner notes in the mono box says the stereo mix was slowed a semi-tone.

@PhilmsMovies Trust me - you haven't burst it. What you've said is quite wrong.

No, Abbey Road was the only album originally mixed in stereo there are no mono takes of the album.

The stereo version is a too much a downer in the slower pitch it's in. This speed is way better.
