Great 45 featuring Ted Taylor on the Clavioline .He was a session man and played on a lot of the Stringbeat album as well as tracks by Adam Faith with the JB7 . He also made some cracking instros with his group The Ted Taylor Four on Oriole records `Cats Eyes Flyover and M 1 ( atribute to the motorway which had just opened then) amongst others. He also did session work for many other record labels as well as work for the BBC .Starfire should have been a hit . superamos31 0
Duane Eddy certainly made a profound impression on John Barry. In a recent documentary, John Barry said that Duane Eddy's huge success at the time gave him the idea to write and record the "twangy" guitar instrumentals.
Stringbeat was a class album, way ahead of it's time, and still sounds fresh and inovative today. John Barry of course moved on to bigger and better things, but the unsung hero of the album was without doubt the great guitarist VIC FLICK, who also played for John Barry on the original James Bond Theme, and as a much in demmand session guitarist, played on a multitude of sixties British hits.
This was the first LP I ever bought (I don't count the Yogi Bear one!). Vic Flick on guitar was brilliant. Loved Walk Don't Run, Black Stockings, James Bond Theme et al. Pity he got into serious music arranging and composing and didn't continue with the JB7.

I bought this from a second hand record shop after seeing the Jerry Lordan song writing credit. A classic, though hardly anyone's heard it!

This song was written by Jerry Lordan who composed "Apache".

Born in the sixties and had this album played to me from day one! Know every note. This track along with track 2 are my favourites.
