Absolutely retarded. Welcome to the world of the 'point-and-click' DBA. Applying a SQL Profile (the usual get-out-of-jail-free card) doesn't fix the underlying problem. It only disguises it. if there were "long running queries" you cannot fix them online like "magic". Even if you add an index, or rewrite it, or whetever "impossible" recommendation the tuning advisor gives you, the query still has to stop and restart so the optimizer uses the new plan. So solving it online is a lie. They could, instead, have use the Resource Manager feature to decrease those session's resources. Those queries will run slower but the rest of the sessions will not suffer from it.
