  • still... why do people argue over nat's etnicity? i bet he wouldn't like that, i bet he knew that everyone is the same. there's not "you" nor "them" there's us.

  • You've got the writers the wrong way round: Kosma wrote the music and the poet is Prevert who wrote the words. This is very nice of course but I happen to have a jazz instrumental version which is even more charming and beautiful!

  • <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @sanders22158 and I just have to add one more thing... Steve Jobs may not have been retarded, but he was a despicable human being all reports I've ever read or heard. Arrogant, pompous, ill-mannered, and an overall asshole. Maybe a good CEO and marketer for Apple, but to compare such an awful person to NKC is more of an insult than calling me or him a nigger. Why don't you just rent a time machine and go back to your good ole days of slavery and priviledged rights, you racist shitbag.

  • @h21xme We call them hipsters now.

  • @sanders22158 Listen, I don't know where you get off criticizing me for feeling a kinship and admiration for my FELLOW nigger-in-arms. That's how you treated us. Don't be mad that we can flip your racism around and make it a positive thing. We're proud to be different from you. Thousands of views since that was posted and only you respond like a twat. I'm gonna listen to NKC all I want, and you can't stop me. NKC isn't just your "slave" he's a hero to the Black American Community, so back off.

  • This song always make me cry...why? maybe cause is a beautiful masterpiece...

    (btw im 19 years old)

  • i always cry when i hear this song. brings back memories of me as a toddler. this is the first song that i have sang. at the age of 3 or 4 i think.. nat king cole is the best. is only i could go back in time and see him sing he would maybe take my heart away.. i just wish there would be more kinds of this song than rap and rnb.. etc

  • One of the most incredible voices ever. Right up there with Sinatra and Bing Crosby, Joe Williams. No mistaking that smokey undertone, just a great singer.

  • I bet he smoked a couple of cigarettes before this recording

    He has a beautiful voice

  • i loved Nat King Cole, He was not only a great singer but a great person as well, RIP Nat, we shall never forget you. You made an unforgetable impresson on your brothers and sisters whether we be black, or white.

  • Beautiful, Absolutely perfect. Champion!

  • Simply beautiful! What a poetic voice! Thanks for the upload.

Autumn Leaves...! This song touches very deep into my heart because of a past experience. Nat King Cole is...UNFORGETTABLE!

  • lyrics by jacques prevert music joseph kosma.

  • This is just my opinion. I think Nat King Cole is the greatest nigger ever bred. His voice just makes you melt. He was a phenomenal musician, and a personal hero of mine. I'm sure he's serenading angels in heaven, where I bet he's even allowed to sit in the front of the bus. Rest in peace my negro friend, rest in peace.

  • @h21xme The fuck??

  • I came here after watching "My week with Marilyn". This song is just beautiful.

  • Rest in Peace Grandad. "I miss you most of all, when autumn leaves start to fall" <3 Hope you have a good christmas up there :)

  • Jay Cole's granddad

  • I just saw My Week With Marilyn and they used this song brilliantly in it! Hadn't heard it in ages and just had to seek it out.

  • Beautiful lyrics and one of the most beautiful voices ever!

  • I think America should feel very proud that she gave such wonderful singers as Nat Cole to the world. We didn't give symphonies--we gave song. Nat was part of that golden age of song perhaps never to return--but we have the recordings!

  • Mistake in the description : lyrics by Prevert and music by Kosma !

  • There is a mistake in the description of the video, on contrary lyrics are from Prévert and music has been created by Kosma

  • Beautiful.

  • My mother raised our family listening to music on the record player. Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, and Percy Faith. All of us have music playing in our homes all the time. But, when they come to my house you will hear Johnny and Nat playing most of the time. I love there voices. No one can sing like they can. No one can even come close today.

  • Nobody can sing this song like Nat King Cole

  • @33AwesomeSauce I agree with you. a reason for calling him King.

  • @33AwesomeSauce His voice is just... I can't describe it. I love it

  • @33AwesomeSauce While he does sing it best, I love Eric Clapton's version just for how sincere his voice is.

  • I'm 15 but i don't get why in the world would someone dislike this song? It must be some emo punks who listens to screamo all day.

  • @glennbez its justing bieber my friend

  • @glennbez not just them! also the pop music people UGGHHH

  • @glennbez Good for you, kid. You have good taste in music.

  • song that keep us to be in love always

  • Wonderful voice and song .

  • Great Song buy Nat King Cole, allot of people how don't like this song don't have appreciation for Music.

  • Bravo

  • Jacques Prévert was a french poet, not composer. Joseph Kosma was a Hungarian-French composer. Thanks.

  • Beautiful song , immortal voice ! When you listen to that voice one's just feel the beauty of Life !

  • The older one becomes himself, the more your heart lives, and vulnerable soul is torn. This song is as refreshing drink that gives strength and hope small, sad smile with memories of love ...

  • Чем старше становишься сам, чем больше твое сердце проживает, а ранимая душа уже истерзана - такая песня, как живительный напиток, придающий силы и лекгости, грустной улыбки с воспоминанием о любви...

  • I love this song. It makes me miss my city choir so much

  • So beautiful , so poignant ..

  • What can I say but thanks for posting this haunting song.

  • Autumn Leaves means only 1 thing: time 2 get the damn rake out of the shed!!!

  • LIFE IS EPHIMERAL ;ITS A BLINK ; YOUTH GOES IN MOMENTS TATHERING THE CHILDHOOD ;SUN SETS AS WE GROW OLD. INEVITABLE FOR ALL HAVE TO GO ! WE COULD DO SOMTEHTING GOOD FOR OTHERS ,WE SHOULD DO IT NOW BECAUSE TOMORROW MAY NEVER COME TOMORROW ,TODAY IS A BETTER DAY TO GIVE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE TO THIS WORLD !

  • nice smooth song

  • Nice rendition. Peace.

  • Bienvenid@s al Otoño.

  • he was a great man

  • Thank you Mr. Cole for your contribution to a great art. I go through different phases with every song. Fantastic post.

  • おもいでの曲です。恋人にふれれた思い出の曲。

  • Nat's voice is music itself....

  • So fuckin nostalgic

  • perks!

  • Terrific. Thanks for posting.

  • Came to this song because of "the perks of being a wallflower" :) ♥♥♥

  • Prevert wrote the lyrics, Kosma the melody, not the other way around....

  • Purest voice

  • ,Mais uma linda interpretação da voz mais bonita de todos os tempos.

  • I could never get tired of this song...it is part of a chapter in my life....

  • Majestic!

  • Praise the Lord! How nice his voice you give to Him oh Lord! Thank you!

  • No Autotune.. hmmm

  • 発音がハッキリしていて、覚えやすそうですね~ ☆⌒(*^∇゜)v ヴイッ

  • very good

  • The original singer is edith piaf..

  • @MrHanaf Siorry! The 'original singer' was Yves Montand. Jacques Prevert wrote the French original with him in mind.

  • Reading the note, respetfully I found a mystake: Jacques Prévert wrote the words, the music was by Joseph Kosma. With all the respect thanking You for hte post. :-)

  • Awesome song and voice!!

  • This is my all time favourite song and I collect all versions. Some ARE better than others. If music was just a matter of opinion, then there would be no way of arguing that Peggy Lee's version of Fever is better than Kylie Minogue's. Nat's version is top quality in this style. So is Matt's. I love the French, Juliette Greco and Yves Montand- profond, sublime. The French have the passion and the gravitas for this kind of melancholy and should receive more recognition for this truly great song.

  • i am gay

  • @lazzamann Who cares what you do in bed?

  • i just love this song sung by nat king cole it brings tears to my eyes

  • this version had me in beady eyes immediately..;_;

  • Prévert was the poet, Kosma the composer. :-(

  • matt monro did the best version by far nat was a close second

  • @thehummingbird1966 Whose version is best is purely a matter of opinion. I respect your opinion though and will check out Matt Monro's if it is on here. But Nat's is the best version I've heard so far anyway.

  • excellent

  • Divino,maravilhoso

  • Só faltou '"Love is a many splendory thing".(tá certo?)

  • qUE SUAVIDADE! Só Nat King Cole para me fazer me sentir tão bem, tão calma, com momentos de prazer . Obrigada por ter postado o vídeo .

  • so beautifull!

  • Carol, I lost my mother last night to cancer too. She requested this song at her funeral. We played it at my dad's he was always singing Nat King Cole songs.

  • Just great and wonderful!

  • This is so soothing.

  • ♥ Nothing more to say.

  • hola, thankx, for "autumn leaves- nat king cole" music video..a mellow song to dance slow foxtrot &/or night club 2 step to. happy dancing, :D benito m. santiago

  • I'm two years old and I like music.

  • there's my house 1:43, there's a beautiful lake in the back. they don't show it but wild Mustangs run free on that land too..... and then i wake up,lol.

  • hahahaha...... that cool ....

  • I just adore the voice, and the piano playing, of Nat King Cole. But I prefere this song sang by Yves Montand, although I don't (= now I understand better) understand the words. But in my opinion Nat's version is No 2.

  • an eternaly song....

  • This is the best song ever in my life...it takes me back to Santa Rosa...winters and summers there...walks under the rain...cherished memories with a special person that misses me up to today....

  • My grandad loves this song he always sing this in the car I Love my grandad x

  • my live motiv...

  • super version! mais rovingeye, une erreur s'est glissée dans ta description : the music is by Kosma and the lyrics by Jacques Prévert ;)

  • Thanks to the Internet and your kindness in posting this, I am able to enjoy the best rendition of this song that takes me back to the '50s when we were so young and our parents sang this to each other and we chimed in. Lovely memories since they have long passed away and we too gradually approach this autumn stage in our lives. Thanks once again.

  • Such a beautiful violin sound of falling leaves in the begining and in the end .. Nat own that song imo.

  • My father was 94 h=when he died and he asked me to play this version of Nt King Cole as he lay on his bed. He asked us to puton his tombstone a quote from Homer, "As the generation of Leaves, so of Men." The transitory nature and regeneration of nature and life.

  • LIKE THE LAW OF CONSERVATION OF MASS. THERE IS A LAW OF CONSERVATION OF SWEETNESS OF SWEET SONGS.

I FOUND IT CENT PERCENT TRUE. THE SWEET SONG THAT WAS SWEET BEFORE A HALF CENTURY IS STILL SWEET.

  • This is hands down, the best vocal version of this song I have heard. I Love the arrangement and the simple yet elegant understatement of Nat King Cole's vocals on this cut.

  • @speakwhnspkn2 Yeah, he's good like that. He also does the best version of Stardust - hands down. Oh Nat. Sigh.

  • Comment removed

  • @speakwhnspkn2 Nana Mouskouri does a beautiful version of this also! :)

  • look at "America 30 40 50"

  • smooth as silk.nat cole was the ultimate singer.with dean martin, mel torme, tony bennet.the kings of their craft

  • @sampson1959 couldn't agree more, you're so right, his voice is silk..

  • "music by Jacques Prévert and lyrics by poet Joseph Kosma" - quite the contrary: lyrics by Prévert and music by Cosma.

  • EDITH PIAF !!!

  • Anyone else wish Billie Holiday had covered this song? Nat King Cole sings it beatifully, but i just think it's better suited for Miss Holiday. Hopefully someone with her kind of style covers it one day...

  • Marvelous. *****.

  • carol17774

I'm so sorry for your lose.

May your Mom RIP. I lost my Ex Wife back in Jan of this year.

  • Actually the music is by Joseph Kosma and the lyrics by Jacques Prévert, who is a very famous french poet.

  • Oh mon dieu c'est sublime...

  • Dedicated to my "friend" who passed away. this is one song that will live forever!

  • My favorite one

  • My mother used to like to sing this one.Maybe this is one of those "mother" songs as I noticed several mother's used to like this.Well, my mother passed away day before yesterday (the day after Mother's Day).My mother expressed herself with music... tonight I hear the words in a whole different way... I miss her so much and I hate going to sleep without her breathing air on the planet tonight ... I know I am going to miss her deeply... and tonight I hear her singing that she will miss me too

  • this song always make me cry....... yes,it's my mama's song..!

  • one of the finest voices ever.....perfect!

  • ...semplicemente bellissima...

  • perfect song!

  • Superb!

  • Beautiful!

  • Cole has really a velvet voice...

    Seben

  • There's one person that doesn't understand sensual music.

  • Dear flecha57. Maybe i deserved *some* rebuke for criticising such an undoubted legend. Even so, was "fiend" not a bit strong?.

  • who the hell disliked this beautiful song?

  • @nikolozjazz

    Justin Beiber did.

  • ummm...who's charlie? lol...was this song in a movie or something?

  • @XxDWillxX It's from a book called The Perks of Being a Wallflower :) it's really good you should read it.

  • @elhamh ohhh ok thx..i'll checkit out.

  • charlie <3

  • How can anyone possibly dislike this? The emotion, the imagery... This is what music is all about. LOVE it.

  • @darthfocus actually it was Les Feuilles Mortes, in french :D

  • My father, born in 1923,used to listen to the smooth singers like Nat,Bing,Frank Fontaine...So i love the stuff..

  • this is for you mom. i sang this to you in octof 2010 on the bus that took us to the cancer center . i didn't know that i would loose you two months later. i glad i had the chance to sing this to you my darling mother. i miss you so very much

  • @carol7774 God Bless!! Please enjoy Nat King Cole, the best!

  • @tresoul I'm a third grade teacher and I let my class listen to Johnny Hartman and they sat there with their mouths open...They did say Mrs. Salaam that's jazz...I was kinda proud.

  • @carol7774 awwww... i'm sorry for your loss and your words made me think of my mother..

  • @carol7774 that must have been a serene ride....what a day for you.

  • @carol7774 my memory is just quite different, the pain is the same. It's our fault: to love, to miss and to suffer

  • @carol7774 weeping just reading your comment....a superb song, and such a poignant memory for you...

  • @carol7774

Thanks for your post. I know how you feel. I lost my Mom in 2009 to diabetes and this was her favorite Nat King Cole song too. This song will always remind me of her.

  • @carol7774

  • i like his style man

  • Man it's so smooth. I wish i was born in that time, it's in the key of F

  • Does anyone know what key this is in?

  • @scruztkl99

    Mainly G Maj7

  • revivi toda minha infancia enquanto ouvia essa musica, estudei ingles para entender essas e outras belas canções,hoje o milagre da internet torna possível a volta ao passado,. obrigado aqui do Brasil,

  • Although i hardly understand a word of French, i prefer Les Feuilles Mortes sung by Yves Montand. To me, listening to Nat King Cole is like looking out at a calm sea and longing for a ripple that seldom comes. In other words, with the exeption of one or two songs, he is too often predictable and monotonous.

  • @ramqen951 You got a point but... my fiend, that was Nat King Cole, the one and only King of Cool... :))

  • what happened to beautiful music like this?

  • @inspiREDancer2 music like this is still around, just because it is not the majority of peoples taste anymore and isn't publicised doesnt mean it doesnt exist. Look harder
