Proper gun education is important in societies where video games glorify killing. If guns are readily available, the educational system is shit and people aren't being properly educated about proper gun use then this happens. My guess is the kid fought the mom for the gun, he shot thinking it wouldn't do anything to her like in a game but when the blood spattered his face and she fell, he knew the reality.

I used to have a 9mm that was always out and about when he was a baby up to about the age of 5, Then I had to put that gun up and away from anywhere a kid could go and put a trigger lock on it. from about 5-7 he was really motivated by the idea that guns are just toys. Showing him the difference between a toy and the real thing and what the real thing can do to him if he plays around with it. He respects guns now
