Guys...Disney really didn't lose the magic in its animated films. Princess and the Frog and Rapunzel were both spectacular, among other works. It's just Disney Channel that's gone to pieces. :I
@quiktymevideo >> Same here. If there were ever a classic movie I want to come to IMAX, it's this movie just to see that whole flying scene on that huge IMAX screen.
GREAT SEQUEL! I LOVE IT! Why didn't they have interviews with any of the voice actors? It would of been nice to hear the late George C. Scott talk about his role as McLeach!
@carlinj832000 Yeah! It would of been nice to see John Candy talk about his role as Wilbur the Albertross Airliner! He was a good choice to voice that character!
so you remember the movies like uncle buck or the great outdoors? which was the 1st movie that i ever saw as a child so that;s why i like john candy so much.
and i totally respect him to this day, but john candy didnt follow an icon like chris farley did, and wasnt into doing drugs, candy was more of a family man and was just over weight.
who glen keane? well from an eagle, mermaid, the beast or tarzan he said it himself just like an actor the animator is assigned to a character, but than again we have the actors voicing the character, that's how we make the character.
I was really happy when I learned both Rescuers films were out on DVD (and available on Netflix). I liked both a lot: the first Rescuers film was the confirmation of Disney's extreme skill in dramatic art, and the second was the pioneer film for Disney's foray into computer imaging in animated features.
Loved the movies, loved the characters, loved the art, loved the music, and always will.
Marahutay is one of the most fantastically animated creatures in all of Disney history. As a child I could feel myself in flight, watching her. Now older, I can even appreciate the attention paid to the detail in her wings; the imperfections that make her seem so real. Beautiful!
yeah evinrude was his name; i remembered when my parents were looking at boat engines; my mother goes what do you know the named the engine after that character, like nope other way around.lol
It seems that animators back in those days used to aim for authenticity for their films. I don't know if that it still done today but if you want to capture the look and feel if a country or animals do some research. Very interesting stuff to hear but sometimes they go off to much on how great the animation really is that they don't mention the other parts of the production; like the new CAPS system. I'll give them 5 stars for effort, 4 stars for the film & 4 stars for this documentary.
I hope there are still enough of these insanely dedicated, disciplined, and freakishly intuitive people left to create another timeless epic adventure such as The Rescuers Down Under.
To put your statement in perspective, The Rescuers Down Under is a more entertaining and more immersive movie than Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Yes. I meant what I said in a good way. All the animated/3d movies just don't have the same level of effort put in. You use to have to hand draw every frame... now you spend a couple seconds in flash and bam... a million dollars. I can't even watch today's animated stuff...
@ colinstu: Well, we can't go off putting all CG animation in the same bucket. Don't forget that it was also cause of advances that the spectacular scenes in the Rescuers Down Under could be made. I think it's all a matter of heart and vision. Pixar's movies still move me regardless of not being hand-drawn and I think it's more of a matter of feeling that's missing now a days. It really feels like it's all become solely to entertain instead of teaching and caring.
Isn't it about time we had another adventure with the Rescue Aid Society? I know I'm ready for one. What say we head deep into the Amazon rainforrest for the third one. Who's with me?
Good dramatic potential and would require a good script but it could work. All we have to do is convince Bob Newhart that accept a new co-star, find a good cast of characters and we may have a good score here. I'm in but Disney won't be in since Eva Gabor is no longer with us.
Yes! They're actually a kind of rat, so basically a slightly longer face and a very substantial tail modified for balance and jumping. So... Jake's character design was a bit flawed, but most people think mice are cuter than rats, so they stuck with the mouse idea instead.
I totally agree with you ChristiansHoune. My mom and I were discussing it as well. Children don't have these characters to grow up like we did. It isn't as magical.
I wish they showed the old cartoons.I hope disney will get back to animation,I mean in the 90's(I was born in 94)they made good animations, but when 2000 came, animations became dull
Well, they ARE working on a new old-school-style animated movie now, "The Princess and the Frog" -- directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, the same duo behind "The Little Mermaid", "Aladdin", and "Treasure Planet".
I have this movie recorded on Disney Channel in 1997 when it was good, on video tape. The problem is, I can't transfer the movie to DVD because the video tape is warped!
Yes, I will try to put some up tonite (depending on how busy I am), but I will put the making of films such as Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Lady and the Tramp!
This was a cool movie, but all those creepy mice with their needles made me scared about going to the doctor, that they were always going to stick me. ;-;
I always wondered about the eagle though....I mean....even if he's a young boy isn't the eagle really huge? I guess they had to exaggerate the size to make their story work. Thanks for uploading this :3
