  • this woman must not have a bath tub

  • cant swim. but after tonight, I WILL LEARN...ill suck but..IN MY MIND ILL BE A GOD

  • this is really helpful thank you for the video i will try and learn how to swim the best i can and get over the fears

  • this sorta reminds me of porn...

  • i bet she loved to watch Michael Phelps swim in the olympics

  • The most important thing for me was to understand that the reason I could not float was because when tense or prepared for exercise, your muscles become dense/contracted ready to pounce and this higher density makes you sink. Now, I can't sink- my problem is getting down to swim under water.

  • dude i am 13 and i cant swim since i was litte

  • is breaststroke a natural born skill?

  • does that lady take showers then

  • I am 36 and I learnt swimming about 12 weeks back........I underwent an adult course where there just 2 of us adults..classes 4-9 were the most difficult as i started regressing a bit..but by 11 I was able to do 5 laps (with stops at the end) and I went for a 2 week break when I was back I did 3 laps in a row and did 20..my class stopped after that..by the time I was swimming for the 18th time..I was swimming about 50 laps..which I do now..there is an initial mental block when u start late.do it

  • lol my uncle threw me in the pool and thats how i learned

  • @535manbearpig That's how my dad learned as well, except his dad just left him in a pond and said "Save yourself!"

  • I tried to learn swimming at the age of about 11 in a well as I was in a village in India but without success (due to fear of drowning after first attempt at it)

I started learning swimming 2 classes ago and due to my ability to hold breath for about 70 seconds under water, i started belly floating and then flapping my arms and legs. Now, in just 2 classes and 5 days later, I can swim one half lap.

I can't yet bring my face up to take air in, but I'll get there pretty soon.

  • Amazing, wish I can do that! Never learned how to swim, I need to find someone that can teach me as she was taught.

  • When I was a kid the idiot swimming instructor said, "The easiest way to learn how to swim is just throwing the kid in the deep end and he'll figure it out..." After I wee-wee'd in the the pool in terror, he started teaching me with the kickboard.

    - - Now if he wanted to really f*** her up he could do what I used to do at camp... swimming real low, coming up behind kids and pulling them down by their legs... muhahahahahahahah...

  • bad

  • this is more common that ppl think. 1. stick with it. 2. stick with it. #. dont stop! fear of water will hold ppl back from having a great life. just like flying or any other thing.

  • hi, i am a new learner and trying to learn it by myself mostly looking at the video tutorials. I've started with free style. Its been almost one month but still i have problem breathing. In single go holding my breath i can swim so long i can hold. When ever i try to breath i get drowned. Kindly do guide me in this regard. Thanks

  • i have been learning to swim but cannot get over my fear of the water rushing into my nose and mouth but cannot wait to try this

  • nice to see this. i took lessons 20 plus years ago and am attempting it again. funny how old fears can crop up again. a good patient instructor is key. wish me luck!!!!

  • f*k those captions are annoying

  • i can't swim i almost drowned last year but i'm going to keep trying to learn.

  • @202dolphins

I'm 50. I just stopped cycling because its too dangerous in England- the establishment are trying to kill cyclists, because they don't pay any tax.

I could not float nor go underwater. Lying on my back in water or going into deep water terrified me. I took adult lessons where I was the worst of 6 students. A few simple explanations and 10 lessons later I can swim a length in front crawl whilst breathing. I can float on back or front and tread water.

  • 3:06 HAHAHAHAHA

    AHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • as soon as i learned how to hold my breath under water (took 5 minutes of trial and error) i've been swimming like a fish ever since. i can't imaging being afraid of it, but then again most people can't imagine my fear of hunny buckets...

  • I'm a self-taught swimmer....I was terrified of it a month ago, now i'm swimming UNDER water as I prefer it :s

  • I grew up around water, swimming baths, pools and such. I cannot imagine being afraid of water. Quite strange to see this.

  • SOUNDS LIKE SHE NEEDS TLC

  • I KNOW OW TO SWIM

  • I guess this video has gave me soem Hope as well

  • I just joined the local gym with the intention of getting back into the pool after over 25 years. Back then I could swim a mile without a problem with my head underwater. Now I'm afraid again, which is why I'm watching these. It's gratifying to see someone who is as afraid as I am make so much progress in a short period!

  • What a great video and program! I am a wsi certified swim instructor and am continuously shocked at the number of adults that have a phobia of this, but how awesome it is to help them conquer!

To those who have commented below about similar fears or desires to learn to swim-PLEASE consult a professional. Learning to swim is easier than you think but is not a "do it yourself" kind of task! :)

  • Does someone know the name of the song that starts at 3.26 ?

    Thanks chaps!

  • wota rofl

  • I'm 30 and i just started to swim,i have like 1 month, the thing is just to dont be afraid to the water,be confident and realize that just not going to die unless you go in the deep of course, start in the less deep and then progress little by little and also don't be ashamed with what people going to say maybe making fun of you cause you are to old but wtf the thing is that you learn or not.

  • i'm 20 and i have nearly the same problem as Jill does. Lately i've been going to the swimming pool, trying to wean myself off of floating noodles. i use the board with flippers, though i'm still trying to get over my fear of the deep end (i'm not afraid of the deep end if i swim with a floating noodle). i still can't use the board without flippers :( i should try the face dunking exercises lol :)

  • Well done Jill !

  • This is a great video, i don't swim very well, i never learned by lessons, and i managed to learn a little bit on my own, i advice to anyone to go to the pool and try to do basic stuff a nd get confidence around the water, you just have tou go with confidence :)

  • can someone help me, i cant swim and i get afraid to ask, the omen in there are nice but i am skared to ask!

  • You can try to take the swimming lesson to learn to swim. First take a deep breath and try to tuck the head inside the water and release the air from you noise. Then learn how to kick and how to move your arm. You can try by using a floation device that won't restrict you arm and leg movement so you can partice the swimming stroke technique without worrying afloat. Then, you can deflat the floation bit by bit until you won't need it anymore

  • i feel like a puss. i freak out when i try to back float.

  • This looks fake,IMO.

  • You're only 9? Join a swimming club you'll be fine in no time :) When swimming just relax and let it come naturally. Nothing bad can happen, and people are always helpful.

  • u don't want to put ur address online EVER.

  • don't put your address online, no good. It's better to join a community swimming lesson. There are real swimming teacher there

  • people, ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS HOW TO FLOAT STRAIGHT UP IN A BODY OF WATER!

I like swimming but nobody ever taught me how to swim.. in the middle of an area of water without actually traveling anywhere.

  • you are right so do i my name is nychelle i want to learn to do the same as u

     nychelle age,9 californania

  • i want to learn to swim can u give me so tips nychelle age ,9 :] :p

  • not everyone can just float. I myself can swim the strokes although without "fat" you won't be able to float. You just need to relax and keep your legs up.

Breathing in more not taking shallow breathes would mean more buoyancy. As less air volume = less buoyancy.

  • I don't know if this will work for you but it worked for me. try wearing a pair of slippers in each of your hands and when you're in the water try using them as a kicker to keep you lift up in the water. because they create more drag in the water it's easier to float in the water. When you become better at it then let go of the slippers and use just your hands. It might work for you. Just don't try it by yourself ok? hehe

  • somtimes i fall over on the beach when i going diving down... but the trick not to get water in ur nose is blow air in out of ur nose so it wouldn't go in

  • I can't float I used to float acually only once but I can't do it again why

  • the same thing happens to that happens to MapleStorylovera

  • i'm 18 and im terribly afraid of putting my face or head in the water. when i get in the water i dont go any deeper than pass my neck.

  • same here but i am 14

  • i don't get why i can't float. I move my arms and legs at the same time and the correct movements for the freestyle... I just always end up underwater swimming and then i run out of air and when i turn to the side, im still underwater. why is this happening to me?

  • me to. i don't know why

  • maybe cuz i'm overweight T_T

  • That's not true. I'm overweight and I'm learning how to swim and I'm floating just fine.

Actually overweight people float better than thin people because fat is less dense than muscle.

  • i want to learn to float to but im just to scaed to try it because i can't swim

i want to learn to swim

nychelle age,9 california mail me tips at :37861 Crest del reyo murrita

    thanks bye

  • that is sooo true! About 7 out of every 10 swimmers I have to teach (especially adults) are terified of getting their face submerged.

  • wow, maybe i should teach my friend that becuase she is afraid of water too.

  • congrats on your major accomplishment.
