His was more dramatic at the expense of refined singing. Werrenrath was no Titta Ruffo but why couldn't Werrenrath be Werrenrath? There's nothing wrong with lyrical voices such as his. I have alot of Werrenrath holdings including Tu Se Morta by Monteverde (Orfeo)
What a vivid, marvellous performance! Such gusto! I must say I do not hear deterioration, though perhaps the electrical system shows that it was a farly light voice, in spite of the manly timbre.

I have several of his electrics and its the others that show more deterioration. Not so much here. But you're right about the electrical process.

Thanks for posting. Even the recording quality was improved, the voice, like you said, became weak. But, still nice performance.
