@Astrotama I do believe it was Rutseys song yea? there is an old old vid of just Ged, alex and John playing, well before fly by night, eh I may be wrong
@IslandWreck Indeed, that song was created and played before Neil joined the band. I don't know why they never put it on the 1st album and waited instead to put it on Fly By Night. That is the version I play on the video.
@braincrisp1 Haha, well Im not sure if I have ever found any of the comments like 'thumbs up if Justin Beiber's death would prevent the anti-christ from being born' but nice assimilation of red barchetta, enjoyed it
@philsrh0809 By listening! I usually listen to a song over and over again, learning the drumming parts visually in my head. I never learn a song by first sitting on the kit; that would be too frustrating for me. After I get a good idea on how to play it, then I sit down at the kit and just rehearse it until it becomes automatic and I can play it without any background music, just by playing the song in my head. For some fills, I need to stop and figure out the sticking on the kit. That's all!
I loved playing along to all the early Rush albums. I cut my teeth and built my chops on them. Most of the bands I play with don't require me keep up with this kind of technical prowess. I'm still tasteful but watching this reminds of the passion I had when all I wanted to do was play drums all day! You've got something the rest of the guys who try to play his stuff don't and that's some of Neil's feel! Good work.
Great job man! Out of every Rush song ever recorded, this has always been and always will be, my favorite Rush "drum" song! I don't care that Neil's kit and technique is light years better now, this is what kick-ass rock drumming is all about to me! Awesome! Now do 'Beneath Between Behind!' :-)
Yes, but I've never been too happy with racks. They are lighter for sure but I still think individual stands and clamps provide more flexibility. I have a rack of course for the V-drums...
Thank you! I'm not a huge fan of By-Tor but since it seems I'm doomed to cover the entire Rush catalog, I guess it might show up here at some point... ;)
try the all the worlds a stage version. it has random time changes and the psychidelia part could definitely be a place to use the v-drums for some percussion(neil doesn't play any, but it probably sound really cool)
I tried to find some vids on YT of signals your cover band, any up?
also, 2112 - cover band has a pretty good vocalist - hint hint :)

The 3 people who gave this a dislike will hopefully get run over by Red Barchettas.

The drumming on the earlier stuff seems to "swing" a bit more than the metronomic style Neil is known for on the later albums. Great work!

you're definitely neil's right hand man. If RUSH ever needs a replacement, you're more qualified than anyone in the universe.
