"Bhava shankara desikame sharanam" clearly shows that this praises Lord Shiva. Suprabhatham praises and awakes Lord Venkateshwara.

Guys, This is NOT SUPRABHATAM.. It is in fact TOTAKAASHTAKAMm sung in praise of Guru Sri Aadi Shankara, written by his disciple TOtakacharya.

Notice the phrase, 'Shankara Deshika Me Sharanam" at the end of each line. The meter of the song is the same as that of one part of Suprabhatam (Kamalaa-kucha-choochuka-kumku­mathO)!

This is the tune in which Totakashtakam is sung.. You can't call it a remix.. except that the orchestration is trendy.

Thanks for pointing out the flaw. The author has made two big erroneous asssumptions: 1) that it is Venkatesha Suprabhatam and 2) It's set to music by A. R. Rahman. Both are false.

He has made a video with still pictures taken from Tirupathi temple rituals, which have nothing to do with TOtakaashtakam!

This shows how many of us have half-baked ideas about our culture and the sacred texts...

One thing's for sure. By using such a title, he sure has achieved a lot of hits!

this shows music is just music regardless of the feel the percussion used in the song brings. Just using drums and guitar for the interludes doesn't make the song less pious. Aptly composed guitar interludes preserves the ethnicity of the suprabhatam. Kudos
