Raimondi is an OUTSTANDING actor... i bought Losey's Don Giovanni a few months ago and is really incredible how his acting skills can surpass theatrical performances and be just as right on screen. not to mention the power of his voice... thank you for the post!
Two unbeatable masters!!! Raimondi is as spectacular here as he was in Attila - dark, commanding, fearful. Great singing. Matched by the best vocal Ernani ever. Also check out the superb trio with Mitchell!
Thanks for posting this- am debating buying the dvd these last few weeks- its all great stuff, but one of the lamest endings of any opera I have ever seen.
The music is great though, and the singing is better, Pav in his prime.
oh man...thanks pipeoxide for the post. Please post anymore Pavarotti clips you have from this opera, especially the aria immediately following this scene.
Credo che bodiloto e il mismísimo Raimondi come dr jeckyll and mir hyde...

Mi pare che lei lo conosca benissimo, dato che passa il tempo a parlarne male. Lo disprezza forse senza conoscerlo?
