This was shot in highest quality (I believe). It's only about 35 minutes of material. The original battery has pretty good recording life, but leaves a bit to be desired. I purchased the "middle" capacity battery which is much better. I wanted the largest capacity battery, but it isn't available at Worst Buy where I had store credit. The video quality could be better with improved light, but it was shot at sunset.
I assumed the camera had SD (standard definition) capability--it does not. HD only. SD is very desirable when your target is 4:3 or you are simply documenting as the file size is much smaller and you don't have to down-convert.
The name of the song is "Laudate Dominum" by Mozart; and, yes, it is in Latin. It is not opera. It is a Roman Catholic hymn which starts with the first two sentences of Psalm 117: "Laudate Dominum omnes gentes (Praise the Lord, all nations); Laudate eum, omnes populi (Praise Him, all people)." The rest of the hymn is the Gloria Patri. In a Roman Catholic Mass, the hymn may be sung after the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
Thanks so much for these beautiful videos. I was in Australia when the fires broke out, just got home yesterday. Finding news coverage to get caught up sucks. Thanks again.
Way cool! It's really weird that I totally recognise each one of those clouds since i shot the very same ones - even at about the same zoom level! :-)
Yep - I was out shooting all afternoon and evening (until after dark) that same day! Great views eh? :-)
I'm using a Canon SX10-is (digital still camera) for time lapse, and a Canon HF100 HD Camcorder for the realtime stuff. I must have shot 20 gigs-worth of files! ...lots more to post yet. I'm gonna need another 1TB backup HDD soon! hahahaha XD
Oh one other note - you can only post your vid as a response to one other vid at a time (YT rules). So whichever other one you posted it to after mine is still awaiting owner approval. If you post it back to mine it will appear right away since I have it set to allow all posts without approval. ;-)
I'm still trying to figure the vid response rules out. Right now it's showing on two videos, but maybe one will go away. I'll probably move it back to yours due to similarity.
I see you are shooting for stock. My vid uses heavy effects (sharpening and bright/contrast). Also, I'm not pleased with the zoom quality of the S10 lens. Whaddya expect for cheap-o consumer, right?

Best time lapse of the smoke plumes that I've seen. Guess you had the best lighting from the santa clarita view. Thanks for sharing.

Great video. I just bought the same camera assuming it had a time lapse function. Nope.
For this did you use LP? How long did your battery last for?

very cool vid. How long did you have to film the clouds to be able to speed it up and get this much on video?
chanderson1 2 years ago
Like it says, it is sped up about 6.5x. About 25 minutes of raw footage total. Thanks for the comment!

Are these just a bunch of still pictures put together or video?

Video. It's only at about 6.5x normal speed. The air currents were moving pretty fast.

Shot between 1840 and 1900 from Sand/Placerita. What kind of rig are you shooting with?
