Unbelievable how an already incredibly good and fairly unique song by the Temptations can be covered and become even better. I mean, both are great in their own right, but I am very fond of the temptations version, and then I heard this and couldn't stop listening. Good songs can really die an awkward when being covered by musically differing artists, but this one grew wings and flew away, hehe.
Great rendition of the Supremes song. The blue-eyed blues was a wonderful era, Eric Clapton, Rare Earth, Led Zepplin, etc. There aren't many groups of the same genre today.
And TIM BUCKLEY, he covered this version from vanilla fudge on his gig. can be found on the album 'dreamletter'. awesome!!! he was and still is one of the better singers i've ever heard.
Diana Ross & the Supremes crawled under their bed's in shame when this version of their song came out!

Check out the video, "Pictures of Matchstick Men", by Status Quo.
It has a similar sound to, "You keep me hanging on".

Hi mortong83 - did you mean "The Supremes"? I don't think I've heard a version by the Temptations.
But you are dead right - both versions are great, but this one is so different it's almost unrecognisable from the Supremes version. I love it.

Anyone from that time amazed at the reinterpretation, stunned, awed, baffled?
