Jerry Jeff is amazing and this is my favorite song of his. Outstanding, makes me want a fifth of Jack a sixer of Lone Star and a lonely hotel room in San Angelo. Few musicians have his soul. Excellent "cow jazz."

This guy is one of my favourites..he and his band sound as good live as recorded...he wrote 'mr Bojangles' and is mentioned in the words of 'Luckenbach Texas'.....a true Americon icon....a great singer and songwriter....it appears that the band have stayed together for years....which speaks volumes.....thanks for posting this...from England.

Thanks so much for posting this classic beauty - I love JJW and my now defunct band (our lead guitarist passed away in his sleep) used to play this and "Alright Guy"" and "Every Drop of Water" in our repertoire! This song became MY song after my Cinnamon Girl left me! Sigh!

there is so much truth in his words, the first time I heard this I was hooked. especially when he sings with gary p nunn in london homesick blues.

jerry jeff walker has a certain way of singing that only he can give some songs justice like the ones about bums and drunks and what not. i used to think his version of desperados waiting for a train was his best one and still do for sentimental reasons, but this one is just about equal.

When the day comes that Mr. Walker sheds his mortal coil, I pray to god that Nashville doesn't put out a "tribute album". For Christ's sake can you imagine any one of those polished pretty boys that pollute the modern country music pond trying to sing JJW songs? No one puts more soul into a ballad. Wanna hear a great song? The CD is "old dogs" , Bobby Bare, Mel Tillis, Jerry Reed, and Waylon Jennings. (2000 or 2001 I think) The song is called: "Nashville is rough on the living, but she really speaks well of the dead"

That song sums up the way I feel about country music. Its gone from a talent show to a fashion show in the last 15 years.
