  • Freakin arrogant idiots...if you listened this was what Ryan tried first...dumb asses

  • The Bears 46 defense was usually a 6-man front, with Otis Wilson and Wilbur Marshall as the rushing linebackers. But the success of the 46 wasn't this necessarily. Instead, it was the shifting, athletic players and brilliant changing formations that confused and demoralized opponents.

  • Ryan cost us our perfect season. He blitzed and blitzed just to piss off Ditka.

  • worst... video... ever...

  • That's what they did on several major attempts at drives by the Patriots. The thing about Ryan's 46 was that it could be tailored to what the enemy was trying to do, because the players basically played multiple positions. The SS was often a surrogate LB, but sometimes it was the FS instead. The LBs could play coverage, vice versa. Sometimes the CBs rushed, and the DLs covered. As the first defense to really do that en masse, they were indeed a quantum leap in strategy, those early years.

  • ummm....what he diagrammed was NOT the base formantion in the 46.

  • @Torretta13 Agreed. That's not the base 46 of the 80's.
