I hate to break it to you Australians, but VB is still fucking pisswater. It's just slightly less disgusting than Miller or Foster's. If you want real beer, come to America and try a Russian imperial or IPA from Founder's, Russian River, Three Floyds, Stone, or any of the other amazing microbreweries we have here. Hell, even Samuel Adams(a mainstream brewery) makes way better beer than anything mainstream in Australia or Canadia.

If we do drink Australian beer it's generally Toohey's New. However generally speaking in terms of our major cities we drink imported beer, Stella Atrois, Peroni, Corona etc. not crappy American pisswater or our own.
