  • People who disliked probably own a Cycle :D

  • That's the way. If something comes along that's so ahead of it's time and makes the opposition look feable and have to work for it's bread and cheese, ban it !!!

  • Wow...Him, The TZ, Valentino....beautiful...

  • King Kenny!!! Greeting from Athens Greece

  • This video is abolutely emotional. Like Edwards said, "Kenny is the godfather of motorcycle racing".

From Europe i say: Long Live the King Kenny. My greatest respects to him.

    Unrepeatable.

  • バイク乗った後の表情は活き活きしてるね。

  • God Save the 2 strokes !

  • that comment about the AMA is spot on, couldn't agree more. What are HD anyway, slow and sound like wet farts, by the time you get there you are either too late or too old to remember why you went in the first place.

  • Thanks for posting this video Yamaha.

  • I just got a boner

  • This is epic. He is like 40 years older and still rides twice as fast as me. Great sounding bike.

  • Wow!!! That old guy can ride!!!!

  • 3:05 Rossi's face telling everything

  • And likewise, very, very moving for me to. Fantastic in fact. I wish there was more audio and video of the actual laps though as some of the other folks here have shown it was simply spine chilling to hear the combo in action.

    A true living Legend.

  • BALLS OF FUCKING BRASS. It doesnt bother me one bit to admit i'm not a pimple on this guy's ass.

  • Egy legendás versenyző,és egy legendával övezett motor visszatérése!Ennyi év után sem kell szégyenkezni a Yamahának,és Természetesen Kenny Robertsnek sem!Kenny's the KING!!!!!!

  • who's the 3 turds who thumbed this down?

    really?

  • @TheAltron5000 They need to be flushed dude....! down the pan. This is pure class.

  • This makes my day :p the sound of that thing is unbelievable I love two strokes soo much :) I'm only 14 but I appreciate like hell Kenny wowwiiee that's all I can say

  • Amazing 2T sound.

  • Wow.....that chokes me up........what can I say.

  • "I had My Bone Dr. on standby" EPIC ! (and smart !) Kenny is one of the coolest. an everyday Joe with an exceptional career and Life! He never put on aires or talks down to fans.

  • listen to that wonderful engine. A most beautiful sound. Far better than the wet fart sound of an hd. I was a fan of kr before he ever came to race in Europe and ever since. The King indeed.

  • How can a clip of a guy riding a motorcycle make an adult male misty eyed.......

  • Holy Cow!!

Kel Carruthers is also there!!! (00:30 white hair yellow shirt guy)

And Steve Baker is in the vintage pics ...

    TWO STROKES FOR EVER!! DAMN!!!

  • This is amazing! I was 3 years old when the original race happened... I remember watching stuff like this on "World of Sport" on ITV, presented by Dickie Davis... haha! My hero is Joey Dunlop, but Kenny Roberts would be my equal Trans Atlantic hero! I've been inspired so much that I'm converting my Jap import Honda CB400 Super Four into a flat track race rep... Watch this space. Should have it finished by mid May... Just in time for the North West 200 road races

  • All the kings horses!

  • Wow what an excellent video!!! Thanks alot!!

  • Kenny was a three time World Champion for many reasons. One of them obviously was because he had big balls. Evidently he still has them. Long live the King

  • I was there that night,,,, and every time i see this video, my eyes water with excitement. I would have paid 100.00 just to watch him run 3 laps.. Best part of the whole race weekend !!!!

  • All I can say is Kenny ROCKS. There is only 1 King Kenny.. End of story..

  • King Kenny. I had the good fortune to see him in a few races, including on the TZ at Sears Point in his last AMA race before he went to Europe. Seeing him take turns 4-6 was hair raising. The guy was just fearless.

  • Kenny still has what it takes

  • Kenny Roberts = Heart

  • mean!

  • They should put a turbo on that thing, see if it can fly?

  • Surreal

  • Kenny Roberts has always been my idol, and eversince I saw Take It To The Limit as a kid, that Champion framed TZ750 blew my freakin' mind. Those two together are the most godly things in racing, PERIOD. The ripping raspy tone of the stinger style expansion chambers and it's capability of going +150mph on a mile, would put ANY racer in serious questioning. Kenny Roberts is the one and only King, And the big TZ, is purely a freak of engineering. Seeing both of them return to the Mile, EPIC.

  • is a great tribute to a legend, a Martian, The King Kenny

  • The pros were entering turn 1 at 103-104mph. Kenny was entering at 100 on a bike that hasnt been run there in 34 years, gets off the bike and says "I wanted to go faster." If thats not enough to make your heart skip a beat, i dont know what is.

  • Kenny Roberts is a man without fear, most good riders now would piss their pants if they rode that bike. The TZ 750 was an absolute monster that could throw you off in the blink of an eye. I loved those dangerous old 2 stroke streetbikes because they were fast and unpredictable, like going on a date with a crazy girl.

  • saw this on a on a old super 8 (before video ) great to see him doing it again what a awsom ride

  • I am still tingling. Way to go King Kenny!

  • I love how Valentino Rossi looks so jazzed to meet the King. I used to race against KRJR when he was very young & moving up the ranks. His grandfather used to take him to the races & I got to know the 2. So once @ Willow Springs his dad took him to the races for the entire weekend & I had an opportunity to not only meet him, but actually sit down & have a conversation with the man. I actually drove home 2 1/2 hours each way to the OC on Saturday to get my KR book & T-Shirt to have him sign. LOL

  • I was there (in the video too :) and it was the greatest day I've personally experienced around motorcycles.

  • @MiniBikeOutlaws

Robin Trower - Bridge Of Sighs

    Long live KR!!!!!!!!

  • a true lagend..

  • The Man....

  • hell yea kenny

  • This video brought me to tears! awesome video!

  • The Doctor @ 3:00 is priceless...

  • I was at the race the night he won. It was the coolest thing I ever saw. The way I remember it, after starting either last or at least at the very back and working his way up through the pack using every inch of the track, he came out of the West turn slightly behind Springsteen and Keener. I remember him squaring the bike and nailing the throttle. He couldn't have beat them by more than 3 or 4 feet.

This tribute is awesome! Thank you Kenny and thank you Yamaha. What great memories.

  • anybody that says that kenny roberts sucks at riding or that 2 strokes blow... can fuck off

  • Kenny will always be a god of the sport and the Yamaha TZ-750 is proof that 2 strokes will RULE FOREVER, PERIOD !!! MotoGP has never been as exciting since they switched to 4 strokes. It takes a special breed to race and win on a 2 stroke. From Sheene, to Roberts to Spencer, to Lawson, to Gardner, to Rainey, to Schwantz, to Doohan and to Rossi; only the very best of the best have been able to master the 2 strokes.

  • The ORIGINAL Man Of Steel. That seat isn't big enough for the stones you possess. Long live the TZ and all of it's hell born fury.

  • You sir Kenny, Are a fucking legend.

Really takes some balls and skills to perform like that at that age after being out of the game like that. Hands down one of the coolest guys ever to grace motorcycle racing.

  • Kenny is a legend... a superman...

    Godpeed Kenny !

  • Ha ha! How good was that?

  • Awesome!!!! All hail the King!!!

  • This bike would still win at any track. This bike is really fast. And Kenny is still the king.

  • this shit makes me tear up. very cool

  • Kenny Roberts is THE american racing hero. One of the baddest men to ever put a leg over a motorcycle.

  • I think I came a little bit...

I mean the look on Rossi's face was aw inspiring.

Like that bike is 2 of my bikes strapped together running off the same crank.

  • 100 times to look an still the same emotion!!!

  • 2 Stroke POWER!!

  • ((( Fantastic )))

  • I get emotional watching this re-enactment of the greatest event in motorcycle racing history. The motorcycle, the colors, the greatest racer of all time being watched by the second greatest. The Legend that is the king, KING KENNY.

  • WOW, like the old days when i rode. days of bubba shobert, mike kidd and the army sponser, and criss carr was a rookie, back when houston asrtodome held alot of events, the history, thanks so much kenny. i will never forget when we met. you are always a hero and an icon for flat track and road racing. I took the route of trials riding. thank you my friend

  • wow such appreciation he gets...

  • Love ya Kenny.....got a couple of shots of you coming off of turn 2 at Laguna Seca....#2 Yamaha.

  • Holy FOOK ... he went for it as soon as he set off...no such thing as getting into the swing of things for a lap or two

  • That was awesome Kenny your are one of the greatest!!!

  • Grab a copy of Moto Retro Illustrated to read the full story behind this event—it's riveting stuff.

  • is exciting to see again ride the yamaha king kenny

  • Great to see kel still alive and kicking. KR For Ever!

  • The look on Valentino Rossi's face as they come past at 3.08 tells you just how unreal it must be to watch.

  • just plain amazaing!

  • KING KENNY!

    LONG LIVE THE KING!

  • Hey , back in the good ole days we had Americans with BALLS......now all we've got Obama sissys.....

  • Probably one of the best videos of motoracing history.Great stuff...

  • We reposted the video on our site Bikeskills . com One of Kenny's main rivals was Mert Lawwill who qualified 2nd at the1975 Indy Mile and came in 5th. Mert's son, Joe Lawwill, is a former mountain bike World Champion and instructor at Bikeskills. And like all of us, a huge King Kenny fan. What a great, inspiring video!

  • The AMA was and is owned by HD.....the AMA banned this bike and writes the rule book for Harley. They used the rule book in the mid 80's to effectively stop the Great RS 750 Honda from racing. Harley has the same option to build a better motorcycle as everyone ...but they choose to run the obsolete junk and keep winning by crying and writing the rules. Harley you SUCK,, go broke soon. Flat track should be for the winners not loser cry babies. Compete fairly or get out and stick to your T-shirts

  • Could only imagine what would have happened if Maico decided to build a flat tracker...

  • @sliderman4u I cant agree most! Great machines to Great Pilots! HD is for posers!

  • @sliderman4u You're a fucking idiot. It had twice the horseower....

  • @MrMikehoncho44 Hey Mr HonchoThank you, coming from you I'll consider that as a compliment. Of course it had twice the HP....my lawn mower does too. Harley uses about 80% of its HP making noise.....the other 20% is used pumping oil out all over the road. Pull your head out of your ass and take a breath the fumes are making you goofy.

  • If your panties get so wet by watching the rice burners, the stick to MOTO GP, and leave the real racing to the men. If Harley cheated in the 80's to stop Honda, how did Honda win 4 consecutive GNC championships from 84-88, and again in 93? You're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts.

  • @MrMikehoncho44 .....I'm sorry but you just don't get it do you? Why do you think after all the consecutive championships they suddenly stop......I suppose you think Harley did something different.....well,,, the only thing that they ever do is change colors and I,m sure that wouldn't work. Honda pulled out of flattrack after the rule change....thus very few wins. Poovey stuck with the RS longer that anyone...but the parts supply dried up and finally even he had to go back to Harley.

  • @sliderman4u

    Thank you,

I've been telling people this for years. It's nice to see somebody gets it.

  • @sliderman4u Interesting. Funny because the AMA is owned by Honda in motocross racing.

  • There was a Kawasaki flet tracker with a H2R engine fitted by a dude called Erv Kanamoto ! Was just reading about it in this magazine ! Aparently it was super fast and won a few races, but Kawasaki wouldn`t supply any cash to develop it further : ( ! Looks awesome in the picture !! Mean Grean and White ! Rossi was supposed to have a shot of the TZ but changed his mind ! Cant blame him really,He had a race the next day ! Peace Ye`all !

  • I had a bunch of Yamahas in the 70's and 80's.

    I had a 1979 YZ250 (fastest thing on the planet), 1978 IT175, RD350 etc...

    Kenny Roberts is the hero.

    I

  • the best thing ive seen on youtube for a while

  • I owned a few 2 stroke Yamahas

    RD350

    yz250 f

    IT175

The YZ was pure excitement for me. Nothing was crazy lightweight before this. It had magnesium hubs. I dreamed about TZ125's, 250's, Holy hell, there were TZ750 out there!

  • what a sound, pity there was music playing while the bike was running

  • Kenny Roberts and Barry Sheene were my heroes as a kid !! Had this big poster of KR leaned over on the yellow Yamaha ! Wish Bazza was still with us though ! What a personality he was! The Rossi of his day ! Awesome rider also ! Cant wait for the WSB and Moto GP to start ! Peace Ye`all !

  • Why did you have to say anything about Barry Sheene? My heart breaks everytime I think about him. The greatest moment in my life was getting him to autograph my helmet in......jeeze..... 1982 maybe? Kenny was awesome. Cant take anything away from him. But Barry actually talked to me for a few and I will never forget that.

    GSX 1000 R

    RGV 500 Pumped.

    Pax.

  • I totally get you bro` ! Bazza still had so much still to give ! Shame he had to move to Australia ! Who knows / He might have got the job commentating on Moto GP for the BBC ! Now that would have been AWESOME ! Gonna build me a RG500 Sheene replica soon ! Peace Ye`all !

  • Thanks Auto,

I raced flat track and road back in the middle to late '70s. You used to be able to go to damn near any fairground in mid west USA and race flat. Not anymore. A shame really. I started road racing hard in 1979 everyone was into Kenny. I never met him. Heard he was a dick though. Dont really know. I was living in California at the time and I think it was '81and I went to Laguna Seca and Barry signed my helmet. He was a genuinely decent guy. I still have it. Priceless. Peace man.

  • Yo Sonny ! Ye heard of a racer called Steve Hislop ! Won 11 TTs and 2 BSB championships ! Lapped Donnington on a custumer Ducati 998 faster than Rossi on the RC211V Honda back in 2002 ! Died in a helicopter crash ! A great scottish racer ! Sadly missed ! Take it easy out there bro` ! Auto

  • I didn`t die-lol!

  • I have the kenny roberts aerox special edition:D

  • HERO!

  • he's the 'king' for a reason. speed and class. nice to see valentino giving respect. thnx for the vid.

  • king kenny el marciano!

  • The Man

  • WOW !!!

  • kenny is the godfather... biggest hero to any person who rides a motorcycle. without a doubt

  • i read about the original race, he had to go wide cuz the tires sucked and the engine was ridiculously huge. so he kept going wider and wider and finally built up a large enough mound of dirt at the top that he could gun it and start flyin. Bad ass ride.

  • A BIG STICK.....ah the good ole days...

  • that man has STICK!

  • I'm either gonna make or not gonna make it xD -_-

  • KENNY ROBERTS' HAS BALLS

  • He was around way before I was able to talk...but for me will always be the king!

  • Look Colin and Vale, i think your great but would you both clear off as this is not your stage.

    King Kenny.................

  • actually rossi was slated to each do a lap of his own, on a pavement track I think, but after King Kenny did his thing they told him it was his day and didnt go.

  • Thats not so bad then. I like Rossi and Edwards but prefer the real hard men of road racing...

  • King - period!

  • It's my God... Legend...

Guys are you know music theme from 3:44 to end of this movie? thx

  • Kenny, you have always been an American hero to the motorcycle world. Thanks for one more great ride.....

  • Kenny you're an inspiration... period!

  • Kenny never hid is light under a bushel basket......he needed to use it for a jock strap .

  • Absolutely inspiring for any middle-aged man who knows the story.

The original bike was a denial of the impossible, the race win was a denial of the impossible and these post script comeback laps also outstripped what is supposed to be possible by someone who is nearly 60 years of age.

The aggression at 4.05 takes my breath away.

Americans need to tap back into this stuff and make shit happen like they used to.

  • @PaDad1927 You said it! I've got pics of him at Laguna Seca 1984 with Lawson and the kids.

  • I'm in awe that he still threw her into the corner sideways at his age. Awesome.

  • Rahhhgg ste bruit du TZ !

    Kenny Roberts ,respect !

  • Kenny..., the king...

Tz 750,...best of the best Dirt Bykes...

    Yamaha...forever machines...

    By Brazil....

  • LEGEND..............The bikes awsome aswell....

  • King Kenny,The Doctor,and Yamaha.This is speed culture.Try to keep up,please.

  • Good to see him again. Worked and met him in his shop early 80s in San Jose. I couldnt belive his kid was his, which way does the arrow on the tire go? Whos kid are you?

  • Hearing that 2 stroke scream is like 50 Stihl chain saws WFO. I'm sorry my H-2 750 Kawi is gone, the stinger pipes screaming at 5000 RPM is terror you never forget.

  • brings back memories of my old yamaha although Kennys is faster than mine was...

  • Holy crap, to make Valentino Rossi put a face like 0_o you really have to impress him, that bike is an absolute beast, and this shows that when you really love a sport skills don't vanish. Still have goosebumps after hearing that engine

  • When I was young, every day after school, I was King Kenny Roberts on my old Yamaha GT80 going around our barn as fast as I could! Great memories!

  • that bike sounds like a animal

  • dam near a tear to my eye...

  • Damm now thats some skill

  • Awesome! I remember I quit being an AMA member when the AMA outlawed it and I've never been a member since!

  • I know the feeling. I did the same thing. Drove to Syracuse the next week to see them again. When they banned the bike they took out Kanemoto's Kawi triples too. Kanemoto had been running them for a few years and they weren't banned as of yet. Of course they hadn't won a national either. Had they, they would of been banned sooner. Just more AMA/HD Bullshit.

  • Brilliant Minds think Alike! AMA lost a member for life. I never will forgive them or forget!

  • I got goosebumps watching KR racing that beast! WOW!!!! Thanks for the memories!

  • if you want to see famous riders go to the goodwood revival 2010

  • i was there it was awsome that bike is insane, also my buddy doug had some duck sausage @ the indy mile

  • KING

  • hes still got it!!

  • where do I get one of those t shirts?

  • Dayum!!!

  • well done mister class

  • This was awesome to see in person. KR at his age was flying around the track. I figured he'd give it 1/2 or 3/4 but he was giving it everything he could, simply amazing. By far the best part of the night.

  • Great, the best KING KENNY ROBERTS

  • KR A true American Motorcycle racing Icon

  • Se dice que quien tuvo retuvo, pero mas bien es el que nace con moto, vive para moto, sera siempre "Keni"

  • Fantastic vid Kool to see Kel, Colin & then Val grinning when the bikes blew by and sucked his eyes out! Flash back Seca 1983, 3 abreast, The crest towards turn one KR, Spencer, Mamola on their back wheels no traction control then baby) then passing Spencer in the dirt heading up the hill (old track) Nothing sounds like a 500cc 2 stroke at song.

Great rider great team manager & total kick in the ass guy to party with.

    KR Thanks for the memories.

    Dangerous Dave32

  • almost brought a tear to the eyes...KR is the hero of 2 strokes!

  • Simply the man KR the best and coolest thing i have ever watched on YT

  • damn that was amazing!!

  • Sumbeaatch.

  • This is an absolutely amazing video of Kenny Roberts riding the TZ750. He rode from last to first on the that beast. He had to ride off the line throuhout the whole race. Watch his line in the historical film clip! Simply amazing and frightening!

  • Great clip here, do you know where I can find/view the historical film clip you're talking about?

  • Always loved the TZ750. But having just finished my 1st season of flattrack racing in the UK, I'm now in awe of KR and what he did in 75. And as I sit here nursing a shattered collarbone from a crash in October, I can appreciate the risk he took riding that thing this year. Kenny was the Rossi of that era. Come on Valentino, show us your flat track skills, Your dad is.

  • great footage...he didnt hold back he powered into those corners like a star...i think valentino would have loved a go..!

  • BTW, if you want to skip the interview go to 3:29 when he starts the bike.

  • "Although it initially displaced 700cc, the machine was called the TZ750 because it had been designed for the Formula 750 class in Europe. The FIM had banned it before the TZ ever turned a wheel, but the machine remained AMA-legal."

AMA banned it after 3 races.

"With the bike capable of hitting 240kmph, AMA thought that it was outright dangerous to have a bike like this and so new rules were set and the TZ750 was banned."

  • King Kenny.

He won the Indy Mile on the TZ the year I graduated high school.

He's older than I am by a few years, and knew the risk he was taking.

A crash in your 20's that you wouldn't really notice, will hurt for weeks in your 50's

A crash that would bung you up good in your 20's, will be life threatening in your 50's.

My hat's off to a very talented and brave man.
