  • 00:50-1:14 is what my brain feels like on pot

  • interesting

  • keep trying

  • I knew I wasn't crazy. Thanks Science!

  • i love simelations

  • I'm in neuroscience and all of this crap.

you can't localize any of these 'brain waves' inside the brain, and we have no idea how anything is representented/processed in the brain.

those are just pretty pictures, they don't answer any questions

  • @bullbunnies

There's absolutely no way we can truly understand the power of the human brain, but unfortunately, this is all we have right now to study its behavior in depth. I don't think this answers questions, but it helps paint a picture (a very vague and simple one compared to the actual brain) of what it does and how it does it. I don't think we should discredit this entirely or anything

  • wut.

  • I just heard if you've ever wondered and then i turned it off because i hadn't

  • What a beautiful discovery.

  • is this why i imagine a giant hammer smashing a nail when i see fast moving colors?

  • hello! where can I get more detailed info on this???

  • Comment removed

  • Go learn?

  • lalalalala, oh ice-cream

  • Creationists' brains are very light blue all of the time.

  • Oh I dunno... "relaxed" is not a word I'd use to describe 'em.

  • @ftwsmp Creationists have brains!?

  • @ftwsmp haters gunna hate

  • thats y she said 3d moving shapes represents...

  • I heard they died later that day tomorrow

  • it doesnt matter what the shape is... they are just looking for patterns...

  • thnx :)

  • Modern brain science meets ancient Buddhist wisdom. Buddhists have compared the mind to the behavior of a monkey jumping around randomly in a cage. They should test and compare the brains of trained Buddhist monks during single-minded meditation.

  • all this shows is brain activity they cant measure your thoughts. correct me if im wrong

  • Oh !

  • Apparently they havent read "How We Think" by John Dewey. All thoughts follow a logistic flow, because the thing you think of next came from a previous thought if you think about it. I think about how i plan to go through my day and then i begin to think about how stuffy the room im in is, because my prev. thoughts were about working and movement which cause heat and the subtle thought of heat brought me to the room.

  • I see the same patterns on LSD. cool

  • The illuminati is watching you.

We don't appreciate you speaking about us

  • deagla, STFU!

  • Thoughts arise like flying fish jumping out of the sea. They are unpredictable. Intention brings thoughts into manefestation. There is no "Cause" Just the unfoldment of potentialiety coming into actualiety.

  • random sex ........... thought's

  • I'd like to see them test brain activity on someone who recently died to find out just how long it takes for the brain to die.

  • when your brain dies that's where you die.

the brain can't live when your dead, and you can't live when your brain is dead.

the heart stopping does not meen you're dead.

  • "The body cannot live with out the mind". Yep I have the most random thoughts like; what if the Queen fancied people.. like had a crush on Enrique Englasias.. like how weird that would be.. lol.

  • lol, that's weird

  • Why are so many people negative here? What's with it?

  • the voice makes me want to kill myself. the video is so much more annoying

  • increible, aunque comparto la idea de que no viajan las ondas en total caos.

  • looks like lava lamps

  • ...confusing for a 12 yr old

  • what kind of accent is this?

  • god damned annoying

  • American?

  • I wish my IQ was 70 or lower, then I wouldn't be able to read these idiotic comments.

  • i can help you with that :D

  • fuck you and your pride in your IQ. Fucking smug people talking about IQ & shit.

  • well, being intelligent is important..

  • and you consider "intelligent" is how high intelligence quotient you have?

You're what fucks up this world. People who claim they're intelligent because of some fucking score and don't try to improve themselves in any way, cause they've got their fucking numbers

  • Why does she speak like a retard?

  • who knows lol

aahh her voice makes me wanna kill myself!!!

  • same

  • There is no chaos, only lack of knowledge.

  • me gustaria ver una comparacion al respecto, entre un psicopata o criminal y una persona normal! eso seria interesante de ver......

  • AND ANDREW..... what would u say my IQ is if u were to go by my favorites?? I m curios after reading thru these comments hehe :P

  • Without wisdom, intelligence is useless.

  • @askhan10: wisdom and intelligence are the same thing.

  • You cannot interpret your thoughts clearly if you have no wisdom. Thus your intelligence becomes useless if you have no wisdom to put it into a true path..

I am sure that Napoleon was very intelligent. But I don't think he made his choices with wisdom.

  • @unknownkhan2

Well, there are many ways to measure intelligence. But wisdom is totally subjective and not measurable. Wisdom is not the same in different cultures or even to different people of the same culture.

  • @2008marian not necesserly,wisdom-from experience,intelligence-could be from more than that...someone please correct me if im wrong ^_^

  • iq tests are quite useless. they show a very small part of intelligence. there are so many forms of intelligence and all intelligence is worth nothing if you're narrow minded and mentally imprisoned by the small world the system has created for you.

if someone's got an iq of 150 and is unable of critical thinking he remains a moron.

  • she has the same speech quality as lil' cease of Bad Boy fame

  • I have an IQ of 148 and I'm a very aloof person, this must have something to do with it. It took me about 5 minutes to write this because I was thinking about pizzas and turtles for some reason.

  • Actually, your IQ is closer to 95 judging by your favorites.

  • How can you judge someone's IQ by their YouTube favourites when Stephen Hawking is an avid fan of the Simpsons?

  • actually, IQ tests are generally useless for determining intelligence. They base those tests primarily on things you learn in school and everyday life. You could technically have an IQ of 70 somthing(what is considered to be retarded), and still out wit a technical genius. Its all in what you learn, and process in how you think about it. Given time most anyone can learn anything they want, or be as smart as necessary to suit their surroundings. Memory plays a vast part too.

  • Yeah, you're right. I'm pretty sure I'm not mentally retarded but I don't consider myself a genius, seeing as how I often have great flashes of pure stupidity (Usually in social situations) which might be saying that I have "book smarts" but am scoially retarded.

  • Or perhaps you have a more of a subjective (creative) brain than a objective (logical) one. I'm pretty much the same way, lol very aloof. Some people have a strong tendency to think beyond the physical scope of the world (so thinking random thoughts, a gift in the arts, etc.) while others try to grasp an understanding of the surroundings of the environment.

  • That's the thing, I am extremely good at scholarly applications, and only remedial in the arts. I guess thinking random thoughts just helps me make connections about the things I'm thinking about.

  • denoded

  • she cant say the t in activity it sounds more like acdividy

  • Chaos has no edges.

  • It almost seems like she is saying chaos because she does not want to say,"We don't understand". I am guessing that her mentioning of Chaos relavant to the patterns we saw have something to do with Chaos theory patterns-(bit of a oxymoron isn't it). Just goes to show that we have alot to learn still.

  • FUCK HER VOICE.. FUCK

  • and why are she saying brain stuff about my screensaver

  • she cant pronounce T..

  • fuckkkk Off Ya Prick

  • that voice is reallly annoying.

  • very interesting especially the last one

  • get a new narrator

  • this is great idea

  • very annoying

  • Nice video

  • she is not annoying

    i dont understand u guys

  • personally i kinda like her voice :)

  • i agree

  • lol you made my day

If you hated the narrator's voice so much, then why did you subscribe in the first place. If you find the narrator's voice to be that annoying for some strange reason, then read the text post on their website and stop complaining.

  • Want to know what I find annoying? Over the top "intellectuals" like you. We don't need to read about your grievances or know your opinions on accessing web content. Just stay away from the comment button and save other subscribers from encountering your drivel.

If you hated that last blokes comment so much, then why did you read it in the first place. If you find the poster's comments to be that annoying for some strange reason, then look at something else on the website and stop complaining.

  • i wonder how they found these models and if they were able to test for their validity w.r.t reality

  • If we can do this, we should be able to make music out of it. Which would be pretty badass.

  • Oh, they already did. I watched this video before the one where they did.

  • fascinating! we want more! we want more! lol

  • I don't see it explains the random thought.

  • It will look random until they find a pattern

  • Well thats not a "new", chaos dominates the whole universe... why the brain would be different from the rest of the universe?

the chaos in the brain was always there...

  • what are you talking about faustolg?

  • I don't think you understand science, Faustolg. When someone makes a scientific discovery, nobody ever claims that the phenomenon is new to the universe, just new to us.

  • do you live in a cave? since the hole universe is ruled by mathematics, why this "discovery" is "new" to you?

you call this "scientific discovery", when they discover the "flu vaccine" (sarcasm implied), maybe you will treat that as "white magic".

Knowing that the brain works at random, it's only one more piece of evidence that chaos and maths are the rulers of the universe, not magic or deities.

  • I don't think you're even arguing anything, it just seems you want to shout.

  • brain=art

  • This is some of the COOLEST modeling and visual representation of the brain I have ever seen. Marion C. Diamond would be proud. Never have I seen brain activity of the convoluted surface represented in a linear/ spacial dimention and the interaction between surface and and the mathematics that have to morph to make that activity visually understandable done so well. It's almost too hard to believe. But that would be a naive belief. There it is.

  • Well i was right we're all fucking crazy .

  • And..

    Yay?? =)

  • similations :0

  • its only 'random' because they don't understand it

  • or maybe it s random

  • It really is random. The basis of every particle and interaction between particles is random in nature. The universe is a giant field of random waves, including our thoughts.

  • Perhaps like a series of cusps being arranged as potentials for action, arising out of an oscillating field from which it draws it's geometry. the wave forms being like logical operands and variables.

interestingly this is like string theories' fundamental category of geometric ratios, or lengths.

  • marsCubed

I like the connection your making with action potentials. I bet if you broke the waves down into different variables with your potentials for action in mind the waves make more sense.

  • Awesome!

  • beautiful...

  • Check out "Fractals the colors of infinity". Its a movie. watch it on youtube

  • Once humans are able to enlage their neuronal capacity by larger brains and cyber components they will have a chance to overcome their mostly helpless attempts to grasp the straight thought within an chaotic awakening.

But before that we have to overcome our stone age ethics.

  • and bronze age traditions

  • trakkaton

What is the neuronal capacity in an orca relative to ours? If their brains are much bigger could they have higher reason?

  • Brain size is measured by the percentage of the overall body mass.

  • that means humans as a race are of chaotic alignment.

  • Pause at 0:07

....Does anyone else see the question mark highlighted in yellow in that guys brain?

  • You've come upon the greatest conspiracy ever played on mankind. You will not live long enough to tell others...

  • acid trip

  • Chaos is confusing...

  • drifting off to sleep before my memory shuts off is my favorite time of day, because I notice and can think of some really cool, really weird shit that I couldn't normally think off. My imagination becomes more powerful as my alert mind starts to turn off. Things like great impossible landscapes and characters. and The best part is I can remember it when I wake up.

  • I totally know what you mean, I also hear songs and they sound so real. I never heard those songs before but they are very well written, then when I realize I hear one or I get more awake the song and the images disappear :( Drowsiness is awesome state to be in!!

  • It improves for a short time after beeing drunk.

    lasting max 2days.

  • But then again its easy for someone to say humans are logical, for the simple fact that we can do complicated mathematics/physics etc... but it wouldn't surprise me if the logical side of the brain is actually a minute proportion of the size we think it is.

  • Modelling streams of conciousness!

0:31 looks like a stream of water with raindrops hitting the surface!

I'd like to see time lapse models of things like someone going into a state of deep meditation, people entering REM sleep states.

  • Maths is something we comprehend very little of... but in retrospect you are right as even if you look at subatomic particles you see that the change in sign only affects one thing, and the rest remains the same...electron/positron pair, and so on... but there are many more links to be made, i just don't think we have quite discovered them yet.

  • what a warped way of thinking.

  • The universe has a fractal nature

  • Damn, looks like an acid trip

  • Wow, I am amazed.

  • It's all waves. Life is waves.

  • o.O that was deep xD

  • Yes, actually all the particles such as electrons, photons etc are waves. So everything, including out thoughts is also waves.
