  • 16 years to the day and it's still great!!!!

  • i'm only 20 years old but fuck, I love this band and I saw them live 2 times in the last year!

  • still so positive...

  • I don't need you to make my choices

  • Next!

  • great band saw them with h20 manchester univesatiy.......great vibe, not quiet as good as the mighty gorilla biscuits but good all the same,2nd lp a bit lame though..!

  • I dont understand why these guys didnt blow up. To this day its still good music or maybe it just makes me think of a better time

  • best show @ groezrock 2011

  • awesome on groezrock yesterday!!!!!!!!!what a great band

  • next month on groezrock fock yeah :p

  • this bring sit back. man, thats so sweet

  • this band kicked ass, saw them twice I think...

  • great summer song!!!! im happy, lets go out to party!!!!!!

  • I like Civ and GB but damn this song sounds gay.

  • most . underrated. band. ever. they rocked so hard live.

  • How the hell did Atlantic Records think that they could make any money with a hardcore band back in 1995?

  • Atlantic took a gamble on an incredible band. They did the same during that period with Sick of it All, and Godspeed. Just because people were too stupid to appreciate good music shouldn't reflect on the bands.

  • Never even knew they made a video for this song. Every track on that CD ruled. Um, did I see that right? This video was directed by MCG? Thats fucked up!

  • What an INSANELY GREAT record!!

  • good. reminds me civ's japan tour 96!

  • Hey...it's the 90s!

  • im catching a bit of Minor Threat at the start....anyone else?

  • takes me back.

  • I dont need Civ to make my choices

  • CIV and Gorilla Biscuits rule!

  • Damn this makes me nostalgic for my teenage years! It was all about Madball, SOIA, Dog Eat Dog, Life of Agony and Biohazard for me back then.

  • Walter was in biscuits not CIV. the bassist from biscuits (arthur) is on this cd. the next cd blew (no arthur... and you can tell)

  • arthus worked at lotus for a bit. haha

  • Gorilla Biscuits: Anthony "Civ" Civorelli - Vocals. Walter Schreifels - Guitar.

  • Civ was the singer for GB, homie. Get it right.

  • chad when i said "not Civ" i ment The Civ album set your goals cd... of corse civ was in biscuits. i ment that "walter" wasn't on the set your goals cd.

  • Not officially as a member, no, but Walter wrote the lions share of the songs actually.

  • @machinesbreathe Quite a few of the songs on the 1st album were actually written before GB broke up. They were originally intended for a GB record that never was. That's the reason the 1st record was so good.

  • @ExUSSailor

Absolutely. Rob Schreifels was a songwriting genius. It's unfortunate that a music loving public was unable to discern these few palm muted chords on CIV's "Cant Wait One Minute More" from one Offspring's socially stunted "Self Esteem" around the same time.

I'll also point out that ALL's solidly written "Million Bucks" single emerged around the same time with hardly any fanfare.

No love for old punks w/ any degree of songcraft it seems.

  • @machinesbreathe Definitely not. It's a damn shame.

  • @machinesbreathe and by rob schreifels you mean walter. :)

  • @renton66 D'oh! How'd I get my wires crossed like that?

  • Civ was, for the most part, the Gorilla Biscuits. I mean, Sam Siegler still bashed the drums, and Walter Schreifels even served as a Brian Wilsonesque ghostwriter for the majority of the songs on the first album.

  • One of the most underrated 90's hardcore records. true, its one radio hit put it "out of the running" in some ways, but set your goals is through and through a fantastic album. even the Kraut cover was great.

  • I couldn't agree more. S.Y.G is an amazing album!

  • civ + sick of it all live in cagliari giugno 1995

  • My second favourite song of this album! Just bought the discography.

  • how in the hell is hardcore dead?

And what do you have against polo's!

  • Hardcore is hardly dead. It's an eternal revolution.

  • Yeh even though civ was a hardcore kid while you were still in diapers.

    go back to south jersey

  • Love it!

  • Didnt Walter Shreifels write all the lyrics and music to this album?

  • I absolutely loved this album, their 2nd one, not so much.

  • haha this is great, I've never seen it before.

Set Your Goals is a flawless album, always puts me in a good mood.

  • Best live band I've ever seen, and they definatly stole the show at the 96 warped tour. Amazing.

  • Shame there are no bands like this anymore....

  • CIV! great stuff

  • CIV are fucking great, reminds me of the 90s when I was playing along to EVERY song in my room!

  • CIV reunion this Saturday at Superbowl Of Hardcore... WOOHOO

  • civ era foda......pena q acabou :(

  • Too bad they fell apart! They rule thou!

  • maybe a fight is what i am looking for

  • I can't believe McG directed this... haha I love CIV. and thats Arthur not Walter.

  • Walter, pre-tattooed arms. Sammy is an amazing drummer. Check out Gorilla Biskets

  • I just discovered this band because my band is covering this song. so much fun.
