This song reminds me of somone. I guess one can call her a touchstone in many ways. Been kicked and picked up in her life so many times now, that it almost seems like time is meaningless. Then again, time does have a tendency to slow when you miss the one that you hold dearest. Anyway, it's like this song fills that hollow space. Took some time getting use to it, for this is not really my type of music. --Farewell for now
fuck i must be getting gay in my old age but i just wept at this song. I remeber this song from the bbc broadcast exactly 1 week after the bomb and as a young teenager i knew my country had serious problems and i hoped that this bomb was the final attrocity that the poeple of N.Ireland would stand for. This is the first time ive heard this song since that bbc transmission. We hoped then and we hope now that these sick fucks will stop this madness. Antrim road last week could have been omagh 2...
@ruperthead i too heard this song in that very same transmission, and like you, found the amazing song on you tube.i sincerely hope and pray that there will not, cannot be a return to those dark days.i saw the news also, very disturbing. i'm pretty sure the good people of omagh must've been horrified to see such scene's.like all of the victims of the past troubles, like all the good and decent people who want peace and dignity, surely there cannot be a wanted return to the dark times.peace be with u.
Although Juliet Turner wasn't the original singer, I will always associate this song with her, even if it is for the saddest of reasons. I love the fact that her Northern Irish accent comes through.
@BluckisLove;;;;;Julie Miller wrote the song, Julie wife of Buddy Miller Texan singer/song writer;;;;;;;; Also check out Lucy Kaplanski's version probably the best of all IMO and I think Juliet Turner is amazing
Wow this song is amazing and has the most romantic lyrics i've ever seen before. It has a wonderful story to it. . .It makes you think. This is definitely a life changing song
I'm always amazed how little known Juliet Turner is, considering how quality she is and how pathetic so much of the dross we have to listen to on TV and radio is.
This is such a wonderful performance. I tried to find an upload without a vulgar username but couldn't. I hope you are so proud and your mother loves the name as well as your daughter. Thanks for posting FUCKABILITY.
@lugh100 What a refreshing thought. That made my day. I am Scottish and although it is not quite the same, I hate the whole anti-English thing. Wish there were more folks with hearts like ours. Beautiful post !!!!
this ws to remember de omagh bomb 15.08.98 de day of my birthday i ws 4 an i ws in de town cuz i live in omagh it destroyed our little town de IRA r terrosists an murderers why would anyone support them?? beautiful song
I was in the bomb, I was 16, it was mad, i love where I grew up, but for the last five years I have been living in England. It was a horrible thing they did, how can they live with themselves? And they say this is for a united ireland, I dont think killing and hurting innocent people will bring that
i agree, i went to school in Omagh for 7 years, and to think such scumbags can get away with such a terrible act makes me sick! no one deserves to go through what that town has suffered. god bless
I first saw Juliet sing this song on stage in Omagh not long after the awful bomb, She has an amazing voice and i`ve been to see her many times in dublin from 1999 to 2002, i am so disappointed she did not go on to be a huge international success as i always thought she was capable of doing so, but maybe down to poor management etc. But i rate her amongst the best in music, such an original sound and to hear her live makes the hair stand on yer neck.
Juliet does not sing for the glory or the fame. She loves to write songs and sing them. I know her and she is not bigger than she is by choice. She is at Uni in Dublin doing a degree. She is perfectly happy with her status at present. Maybe when her studies finish, she may have more time to concentrate on a full time musical career. She was asked after the bombing to release Broken Things as a single and she refused as she did not want to cash in on Omagh. She did put it on the Omagh fund album.
can anyone help me find this song on a album??? Or a site to download it is so beautiful, my friend has bought several of her albums trying to find it with no success. Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks Gil xox
i couldn't get it anywhere myself so i used intellectual property theft instead. install realplayer and you can download any you tube video then burn the audio to disc.
Being from Omagh this song has a place in all our hearts, especially the people of Omagh & our friends. The world was given "Imagine" by John Lennon, we were given "Broken Things" by Juliet Turner & such a beautiful song that chokes me up everytime. Every day since l heard this song for the 1st time 10 yrs ago l find each day l sing a little of it in my head...Never forget!!!!
im from donegal,i was 17 when i heard on the news that day that it was a bomb in omagh, i just said to a client "another bomb" i dident realise the extent...when i got home and watched the news the reader was crying,i will never forget that day,my love and sympathy are with all the people from omagh, this song and all its meaning is so heart felt
this song is the perfect tribute song if there ever was one.heard this for the very first time shortly after the bombing, she sang it to the brave, dignified people of omagh from balcony of civil building i think it was. may you,the people of omagh and the victims of that terrible day find peace and healing. respect for you all,and to ms miller. truckbreaker

just finished watching the film 'Omagh,' and by using Google found she sang this at the Omagh memorial service.
I hope people will understand the song, and why it was used, and watch the film.
Very hard to watch.
But excellent.
Peace and healing to all who read this.
