Everyone having trouble with the little house folds:

I had the same problem, but I figured it out. look for the little triangle creases that already exist. See them? Good. That is what he's folding at 0:38. Fold the triangle in half like he's doing and then go back to pop out the fold from 0:23. It should be clearer to you now.

Some places that sell gardening equipment also sell pipe-cleaner like wire that is used to hold plants to stakes to steady them. It is wire covered in green foam. I use this wire as stems, folding leaves into it and then folding a hook at the top so that it will stay inside the rose. I used this technique to make a whole bouquet for my girlfriend.

Congratulations for such easy-to-follow instructions. Also, the quality of the video makes each pleat very clear. There camera is always on focus, and closes up right into the folding while it's being created. I was able to follow the instructions and create the rose in a bit. Many thanks!

This is the best instructional I've found for the kawasaki rose. Best folding pattern so far. (I am still trying to finish one, she says sheepishly.) What blows me away is that the instructor is folding toward the audience and not toward herself. Wow!

Hey I plan on making a few of these just for a bit of fun. But since I plan on making a fair few is there a way to preserve them when I finish? To prevent wear and air damage (e.g. if high moisture in the air causes water damage etc.).

I was thinking of coating the paper before starting with a thin layer of PVA glue to do this.

Any suggestions at all?

@XboxLiveBarboron I haven't done that with any of my roses, but I know that some origami folders do spray their models with something to protect them. I hope you can find that on an Internet search, I live in a pretty humid place and although other models have "unfolded" themselves, my roses have held together well. I clean them with the canned air I use to clean my computer.

@XboxLiveBarboron As an origamist on Etsy (link to my shop on my profile), I can tell you that some crafters use "clear" acrylic spray - you can get this at craft shops. They come in a shiny or a matte finish, I personally would recommend matte to preserve the original look of the paper.

@BIGBOARUFF No, I don't think there is a way to round it out more with this model. But after you shape the petals out and downwards, the bottom doesn't really stand out as a square...
