@railstie Strobe effect of the camera's frame rate....the camera sees the rotor at a certain location, then the next time the camera takes an image, the rotor has spun many times, but is in almost the same orientation. This slight "change" between each camera frame makes it look like it's rotating slowly. If the rotor were spinning at an exact multiple of the camera's frame rate, the rotor would actually look like it's holding still. You can try it with an adjustable strobe light & house fan.

@rionrace WRONG, the Mi-8MT and the Mi-17 are essentially the same, the 17 is just the export designator. The standard Mi-8T had the very inefficient rotor on the aircraft right, not the left like the Mi-8MTV/Mi-17 and had very underpowered engines. This Mi-8MTV in the video has the latter tail rotor. Additionally, the Mi-8T had no APU and uses 6 batteries for DC power to include starting. The Mi-8MTV/Mi-17 has two batteries and an APU. Yes, I fly Mi-8MTV/Mi-17s for a living.
