  • And he was talking a lot lol

  • You can't hear the engine when you "step on it" cause it's a generator. Not an engine. It doesn't have anything to do with how fast you're going. Thought they would explain that to drivers?

  • @brentseay He stepped on it when it switched to gas engine power you tard.....hence the title of the video.

  • The lil polar bears cry and go "rawr" when you switch to gasoline. Won't someone think of the polar bears?

  • slow electric car

  • LIAR!!

  • Yeah, great huh? Let's just hope the plug doesn't set your house on fire...

  • Now all they have to do is make good looking electric cars that are affordable.

  • Electric car: Chevrolet Volt

    Base price: $39,145

Fuel economy: 35 miles e-range, then 36 city, 37 HWY

    Projected 5-year retained value: 27%

  • @deepfriedking getting 100+ mpg is soooo worth it

  • @wtl1964 Not really, his stats don't include battery replacement. It's around 5000 installed. I don't drive much so I got a 98 Cutlass for 4000 dollars. It gets 31 mpg highway....now that is soooo worth it. Projected 5 year savings instead of getting a Volt.... Around $25,000.

  • @infinitewobdrahpa hehe got me there but if you had the money the volt would be worth it

  • chevy made a good car...WHATTTT

  • @kiiiro

Thats not a bad idea! But it woud go better with a leaf. A trailer to be lend if needed. equipped with a Generator. If you plan a long trip.

  • @Muhlineks just curious how you plan on powering the generator? oh yea...good old gasoline.

  • @BEANDIP3454

or diesel. natural gas? No matter what, only for range extendment.

  • avg 250+ mpg.. what?

  • Americans won't gravitate to vehicles like this in large numbers in lieu of SUV's and cars/trucks with V8 engines until gas jumps to $5.00/$6.00 per gallon, although more people are buying smaller 4/6 cylinder and hybrid vehicles as opposed to 10 years ago.

This country is spoiled by cheap oil prices compared to other countries, and many prius/volt/leaf owners are middle class environmentalists with extra disposable income trying to make a statement.

  • @kiiiro Yes it does . If you live in Ontario Canada every Volt sold costs the tax payer just over twelve thousand dollars

  • The only hybrid based car i would drive!

  • total gearhead hear. hate toyota prii. but these things are damn cool

  • Cool :-)

  • Nice :-)

  • My Tahoe on 37s, 9 inch lift, 350, 4.56s gears, 10 mpg Daily Driver says hi. and wishes it was the volt :)

  • the car is good but is to expensive

  • @cba1067950, I have been watching AutolineDetroit since before they were on Youtube and they have a strong bias against EVs. They are getting better though.

  • He only jumped from 77 to 79 when he said, "maybe if I really step on it". I don't think he stepped on it long enough to be honest.

  • Volt sucks... only 35 miles on electricity shame

  • @datpimpinboy I really don't think that sucks to be truthful. The gas extender gives you another 300+ miles of range which is great if the Volt is your only vehicle. If you want to go on a vacation trip, at least you will not need to rent another car to do that. With the Nissan Leaf, you could not even think of making a trip greater 100 miles without an extended recharge time.

  • @shoelover10 Well for one thing most people who buy a LEAF use it as a secondary car, meaning that they have a gas car and the LEAF. The LEAF also seats 5 while the Volt seats 4, so if your planning to have the Volt as your only car to take the family on a road trip, then you better rethink that. The Leaf serves the purpose of an electric vehicle better.

  • @shoelover10 You have made some very good points, however, I still think the Volt is a better car. I think the Volt is a great car and a game changer, but I'm personally not interested in getting one because I'm much more into performance cars. As for my family, it only consists of myself and one other adult and we aren't having any kids. Plus, you still can't negate the fact that there has been many reports of the range on the Leaf being falsely reported and stranding it's owners.

  • well done craig!

  • You can tell he really wanted to jump all over the Volt for a bad transition to gas and then was disappointed when it went smoothly. AD's bias against EVs is so obvious. How much is big oil paying you people?

  • @ndyt I know right? We're just raking in the big oil money. You should see our Scrooge McDuck-style money pool we have out behind the studios.

If we were paid by oil companies do you think we would even post this video? Do you think we would have gone down to Nashville to do an entire 30-minute TV show on the Nissan LEAF?

  • @AutolineDetroit Yeah I can't stand how Pete D and Jon get those huge checks every month from Exxon Mobile.....

  • @AutolineDetroit LOL! you're so funny.I love this channel.

  • @AutolineDetroit Your previous video where you claim Jay Leno doesn't like his Volt is all the proof we need of your anti Volt bias. After that piece, and to some extent this one, you'll never be able to claim objectivity again.

  • @ndyt soooo missed the intentions on this video.. what a tool.

  • @WDPlumbing, which was???? What?

  • this car is cool :)

  • Impressive technology. Will I buy one? Not for $42,000 CDN plus 15% sales tax.

  • @jimlasalle i agree,

  • @jimlasalle You're paying for the Volt even if you don't buy one since we are subsidizing them with our tax $
