  • @judgeofwar They are just being awesome musicians the way it used to be done, with nothing more than their instruments and creative talent.

  • this just shows how much effort they had to put to make this possible. Thx for uploading this.

  • 4:25 yeah buddy! This is so good!

  • you know your music is phenomenal when people listen to it for 30 yrs and tomorrow it will still sound new

  • "This is new music"

    Still it is

  • Creatividad y mucha disciplina entre estos musicos.Gracias por este magnifico documental.

  • george harrison went to india and made an ass of himself. mclaughlin went there and created a new genre. kudos john.

  • If Harrison hadn't gone to india, McLaughlin wouldn't either. They were differt artists, and HArrison's stuff inspired him a lot. He was a fan of them, you know. The Beatles started the whole indian thing in england.

  • And Ravi Shankar.

  • I believe that JM has always be a Searcher. As understand it, a great part of his intro to vedic music was through a percussion shop located in Manhattan (around 1967) when he came to the US at the behest of Tony Williams, Miles Davis and, most directly, Dave Holland (who he had worked with in England).

  • yes, but London radio shows were John's first introduction to indian music

  • Excellent! Gives a glimpse of how hard they worked at it, and the attention to detail in the phrasing and whatnot.

I've been searching for stuff by and/or with L. Shankar for ages. I don't suppose anybody has film/video of him performing any of his Touch Me There pieces?

  • Buy the DVD

  • Just realised this ain't on it. This is great. History right there. What does he say before they laugh?
