Mr. Campbell, Sir you have done it all. From Delight Arkansas to hollywood, John Wayne to your own T.V. show. You are an American icon. Job well done . God Bless you. You made the world a better place. From a Rhinstone Cowboy to Southern Nights. My childhood in Arkansas was filled with your voice. I was born and raised just about in the middle between yourself and Mr. Johnny Cash. You to the west.Cash to the east. So I got lucky also. God bless from the Great State of TEXAS!!!
I remember back in the late 70's when my friend Billy Smith was dating Mr. Campbell's daughter, We went up to the Campbell's Mulholland home and played video games (pong!) all day. What a house. Never met Mr. Campbell, but what a home.
ONE OF THE BEST PERFORMERS TO COME DOWN THE PIKE IN A LONG TIME ..A BEACH BOY ..A VENTURE ..A BYRD ..WRECKING CREW ..PLAYED WITH SINATRA ; DEAN MARTIN ..ETC ...AND MANY MORE ..WHAT A LIFE ..
almost reminds you of johnny cash trying to ''hang on ''at the last ..going into the studio when he could hardly go ..he sung right up until he died ..same with carl wilson ..real showmen all three ..bravo ..go out a kickin '
I'm guessing he has better and worser(sic) days as I saw him a couple weeks before this and he was forgetting lyrics, notes and had to be helped around stage. Don't get me wrong, he was still awesome but it was showing strongly this day. His children were pretty good too. Thank-you Glen for MUCH great music and many memories.
I saw him about a month after this was done. He stumbled over a word or 2 twice in and hour and 20 minutes and NEVER missed a note on the guitar, He wasn't playing it here just cause that's the way the perform these songs.
I love you Glenn for being the kind of entertainer that you have shown through the years, God Bless you guy... Forever... Karen Dee yodeler of Colorado. This video is fantastic, and thank God for kids. It's soooo beautiful to know that your family is behind you......
Bobbi Gentry-duet album is my favorite of his going away. I could listen to Good Morning, Morning Glory every morning of my life and never tire of it!!
When my dad first bought the album with Gentle on my Mind us kids were introduced to Glen Campbell.....with his album That Christmas Feeling playing all during Christmas each year and all the other great songs it seems that Glen has been a part of my life from the start...if I didn't have his songs and music in my life there would be an empty hole...I am very thankful to have lived during this time...Thanks Glen for all the good music and memories..
Hi,grew up with Glen Campbell's music,my favourite song ,his lesser known ,Too Many Mornings Coming Down.
That song is country but never really thought of him as a country singer, more middle of the road. But Glen was far more country than some of the so called country stars that win all the awards today .
Would have liked to see an interview with Glen -- he is accepting his journey with grace and dignity; so is his loving family. May his openness and warmth inspire and teach his audience compassion, care, and love. As Alzheimer's and dementia continues to increase exponentially, may our loved ones and ourselves be also treated with dignity and respect.
Thanks for the great music and inspiring lessons, Glen!

God bless and keep you Glen. Through the amazing gift of musical talent God has given you, you have been a blessing to so many people all around the world for so many years.
he was my 1st concert August 1969 CNE Grandstand where he played to a sold out stadium - throughout my life we watched Glen everytime he came to Toronto - now 42 years after that first show and almost to the day we watched his final show CNE bandshell standing room only - as the sun set to our left what a beautiful night - what a legend! Thanks for the memories Glen!
It's this simple: Like all the members of "The Wrecking Crew," if you take away all of Glen Campbell's contributions to the music world, there will be a hole left behind that, in all likelihood, could not be filled by one man. If all you know about Glen is his work as a country legend, you have only scratched the surface. Do your homework about The Wrecking Crew, and only THEN will you fully understand what this man represents to the world of Popular Music in the second half of the 20th century.
@BigChiefLtd1 There's a new book coming out soon by Kent Hartman titled "The Wrecking Crew: The Inside Story of Rock and Roll's Best-Kept Secret" which features a lot of anecdotes about these extremely hard-working and talented musicians. Anyway, is there anybody today that can sing as well as Glen? I grew up listening to him too, and am feeling exceptionally nostalgic right now about the 60's and 70's.
My husband and my son are his big fans,it saddens us to know about it,but he will remain in our hearts and his wonderful music forever! A great talent lives forever..
From the time that this little black kid first heard "By the time I get to Phoenix," you have always had a place in my spirit. I watched your musical skills and they inspire many. No matter what you went through, I was pulling for you. I refuse to believe you cannot make more contributions. Love from Denver Colorado. Glad your kids are wtih you.
I saw the great man 3 nights ago in Glasgow. He's still a legend, and will remain so. So many negative comments and the man is still with us...no sensitivity all, disgraceful! Wonderful to see his 3 offspring playing too, and they were excellent as was the rest of the band.
Having been a professional musician for 30 plus years myself I give Glen a huge thank you. He is one of the most recorded guitarists of all time. And a nice guy! Can't wait to see him on tour in 2012. Glen, I'll see you in heaven someday my friend. You inspire so many!
I am truly blessed to have lived while Glenn Campbell was recording and performing. Unfortunately, I never got to see him perform in person but oh the tracks that this man has laid down from studio sessions for the Monkees to the Beach Boys and so many countless others. Thank you Glenn Campbell. I have truly lived in a magical musical era!
All I can say is I have always thought Glen C was the "voice" of talent and to hear his new material w/ new tech is awesome and heartbreaking. Yet the new album is a insight on how alzheimers affects ones thoughts and those around him.. I thank you Glen for a lifetime of great "signature guitar licks"
I've seen him 2 times at Silver Springs theme park in Ocala, FL I got to meet him from the stage. He's cool he's never been one of those stars that thinks they're better than everybody else.
I love this guy. 76 years old and just a treasure. I wish I could shake his hand or maybe a hug. I'm so glad his kids surround him during this period in his life. Thankyou Glen for being so wonderful and for sharing your life with us. You keep rocking big guy! Don't stop performing for us ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These 'sad farewells' are a bit premature, the guy has only a mild loss of short-term memory-his music is firmly locked into his long-term memory, Glen Campbell 'aint finished by a long shot.....
@GalaxyHorse Sounds like you don't now much about Alzheimer's ... you are right that he has a "mild loss of short-term memory." However, he will slowly get worse over a period of months and years. And that's even with the best of medications. There is no cure for this disease.
How do I know this? My family has been thru it three times ... both my maternal grandparents and my uncle on my mother's side.
A very talented man who has given us such beautiful music that will last forever. Glenn may have a sickness that makes him forget but we can never forget him. God is with him and may he continue to sing forever. Thanks for sharing. I still believe he has a lot to offer us still.
You're absolutely right that the staging for this was weak. He should've been sitting on a stool or high chair, WITH a guitar for sure. Plus I don't think they needed so much space. They could've made this a much more intimate performance. You can see Glen moving his fingers as if he's strumming a guitar. Not a bad performance but not what it could have been.
