this is one murder where im on the side of the ones who committed the crime. that was just 1 horrible bitch. the husband gets no sympathy either w/ his passive ass. glad shes dead. good riddance to bad rubbish.
What a trip it has been..... at first I was disappointed that everything is so different from the book, but then they have done a great job on this. I find the ending romantic and original. The settings too, are superb. Dr. Gerard remains my fav character to the end :D
My life too was crushed beyond hope until like Poirot telling Ginevra ' Only Almighty God can heal this kind of brokeness, otherwise we would all be mad." I wish more people would believe this and let the Power of the Holy Spirit restore them to wholeness.
@newfypearl (ctd) Also, they already had their plan for Ginny's salvation - the death of her adoptive mother!
But I agree with you that something seems to be missing in the abduction plotline - what are Sister Agnieszka's motives? Is she really a nun, or just a slaver's agent? Was she following Ginny before she 'accidentally' walked into her hotel room near the beginning of the episode?
I thought the best pair of characters were definitely Dr Gerard and Celia Westholme. There was something gloriously, twistedly, tragically sad about them and their revenge, and even though it ended in schmaltzy melodrama, there was something of their end that tugged at me. I felt a bit surreal after this. There was something breathless in it. Water!
@dochokeana Now here is the question...because it was not in the original novel. Was the abduction not planned or was it the parents way of removing the daughter from the clutches of the family. The killing of her was the act of revenge. But I think the description was a direct request made by the mother who found solace among the nuns. I could be wrong...
@newfypearl I don't think so - Dame Celia didn't 'find solace' among the nuns, she was sent to them by force after her baby was taken from her. Which is why she refers to them as 'vultures' feeding on human suffering; she was able to escape and remake herself. (There has been a lot of studies recently on the cruel way in which many 'fallen women' such as unmarried mothers were treated by ostensibly charitable religious orders in the early 20th century).

Wow. This is the BEST Hercule Poirot movie I have ever seen. Deeper and darker than any of the others, but so beautiful and full of hope. The editing-the jumping back and forth from past to present, and the MUSIC, were wonderful. (And, of course, David Suchet was brilliant!) I'm so glad you posted this. I didn't know this movie existed.
@sjmmelrose I doubt this very much. Why? Because the Christie foundation loves suchet's portrayal of Poirot. He has less than 10 stories to film to complete the Poirot catalog. They will back suchet until the final 'Curtain' ... it is part of Agatha's legacy!
@newfypearl They have actually confirmed, due to the huge success of downton Abbey that Poirot has been recommissioned for a final series. They have yet to confirm how many stories, they usually confirm sooner than this as it has been over a year since they filmed the last block of 4. It had nothing to do with the Christie Foundation and everything to do with ITV's money crisis following the recession.
@purpleblueviolet : I know they are having issues, but in all reality there is only 4 or five more books they want to shoot anyway. It would be a shame to not make them, especially since Poirot has such a following. Besides, ITV has a lot of garbage on that deserves to be axed instead of something as great as this.
Poirot seemed more understanding of the murder in Murder on the Orient Express. I feel that this old bitty had it coming to her as well. Anyone else think so?
from out here in iraq, where i have been deprived of any good Poirot (thanks to the Lady A.) ,thank you so very much for this brief escape to joy, sorrow, mystery,& justice (poetic that is)...!!!! <3
@sotticote Now I'd like to see David Suchet star in Agatha Christie's version of Appointment with Death. This is the first time I felt that a Suchet starring movie was altered beyond recognition. However, anytime David Suchet plays Hercule Poirot in such beautifully elaborate productions is well worth watching and this video is no exception.
that was the best death scene I have ever seen. still, I don't think they had to die too.

What was the nun's deal? I never could figure it out (I seriously wish Poirot was subtitled or something, he is SO hard to understand)
lynnfamily4 1 year ago
@lynnfamily4 The nun was in reality an agent of the slave trader sent to find a caucasian female with red hair to be sold into slavery.

you feel really sorry for the killers as they are so wonderfully played and actually did everyone a favour but come to think of it
are they gods to decide who is to live and who is not
wasn't there another way out?

do you know when will they shoot the film of "The curtain"?

@purpleblueviolet it may not, ITV who make Poirot has huge money problems and Poirot is very expensive to make so they may axe it :-(
