I remember when I was a kid this alcoholic lady called Lorraine lived across the street from me. She was nice at first, made friends with my mum, and I didn't see a problem. I was around 8 at the time. She turned nasty one day when I gave her 6 year old son the finger (i was 8 and he was an annoying kid) from my bedroom window . She saw me later and said if I ever gave him the finger again she'd cut my hands off. Obviously not emotionally mature, which is one reason someone may be alcoholic.

ps, take your vitemins and eat good, your liver will thank you. remember its a gamble, drink all you want but maintain control dont let the booze tell you what to do. if you get withdrall symptoms its to late. then you have to ween your self off. takes about a week. safe way to detox if you want it. just have enough to stop shaking then eat more take b vitimans decaff coffee is important cause cafeene makes your heart race. drink plenty of fluids by day and get drunk at night.
just keep a go, just drink between 4:00 till 9:00 and go slow, the rest of the time is sleep breakfast work hidrating lunch hydrate work, leave work, stop at the pakkie buy a sixer and a pint of 100 proof drink one can on the way home. by the time you arrive your relaxed then poke the bottle a couple of times chasing with beer one or two cans more then relax and watch tv. by then your ready to sleep and you dont get overly drunk.

@dragonslayerED30 you need to quit- your liver enzymes are all screwed up. you are probably destroying your organs, and additionally, if you have loose stools frequently, you aren't digesting properly and are probably suffering from malnutrition because of this. alcohol dementia is caused partly by a deficiency in nutrients, namely vitamin B. anyway....what you're describing is frightening, and definately a sign that you need to stop, or choose failing health and eventual premature death.

I used a prescription drug called disulfiram (brand name Antabuse) - this drug gave me the time I needed to establish new habits and a different routine. While on this drug, you cannot drink. or you will suffer serious physical consequences. for me, it removed the decision process from my thoughts- it worked

Pretty sure I am an alcoholic and I am pretty sure most of these were the exact OPPOSITE of me. Alcoholics don't have any set time we choose to drink at...we just drink all the time so we don't have to choose the "right time." Alcoholics aren't ashamed or guilty. Some people can naturally hold their alcohol. I am not afraid to dump out part of my alcohol. I can always pour more. I am not afraid to stop drinking for the night. There is always tomorrow. Withdraws are serious, they are horrible ive been an alcoholic for 11 years im 32 i stopped a year ago was in rehab.But i went to my brothers funeral i went on a binge for 8 days,this was a month ago when i came off the alcohol it was horrible i was shaking very bad could hardly walk,my heart was pounding thought i was dying could not sleep was paranoid jumpy hearing noises.Also Bad nightmares hearing music play over and over but there was no music, it was bad thought i was in hell never again!!

Pretty sure I am an alcoholic and I am pretty sure most of these were the exact OPPOSITE of me. Alcoholics don't have any set time we choose to drink at...we just drink all the time so we don't have to choose the "right time." Alcoholics aren't ashamed or guilty. Some people can naturally hold their alcohol. I am not afraid to dump out part of my alcohol. I can always pour more. I am not afraid to stop drinking for the night. There is always tomorrow. The job part was about pointless.

This video, even if it is an infomercial, makes some good points. I'm an Irish/German guy who drinks too much. I don't use my ethnicity as an excuse, but I grew up in a family where alcohol was king. I'm trying to quit now, and if you're anything like me, you know how good you feel when you're off the sauce for a few days. Sobriety is scary (trust me I know), Anyway, use whatever means you need to quit. I'm trying to do the same.

i knew quite a few alcoholics who held down good jobs. They started drinking the minute they got home from work....always a drink at lunch....and totally binged on the weekends. Monday morning rolled around and they dragged themselves out of bed, drank 3 huge cups of coffee and started the cycle all over again. They were all pretty smart people too

Alot of the times all weekend then go back to normal for some reason when i party for a night i have to wake up and have more beer to get rid of my hangover then the cycle starts.Ive been in the hospital for alcohol poisoning,was in there for 8 days i dont remeber it ,the doctors told my mom i had the highest level of alcohol they had ever seen for someone my weight.

Withdraws are serious, they are horrible ive been an alcoholic for 11 years im 32 i stopped a year ago was in rehab.But i went to my brothers funeral i went on a binge for 8 days,this was a month ago when i came off the alcohol it was horrible i was shaking very bad could hardly walk,my heart was pounding thought i was dying could not sleep was paranoid jumpy hearing noises.Also Bad nightmares hearing music play over and over but there was no music, it was bad thought i was in hell never again!!
