me to but sadly i was to yound im now 15 but ill all was love his hits like big iorn, elpaso, cool water, and many many others. so may marty robbins rest in pease. but his music will live in our harts foever
i saw him in nashville 1968, he was the last singer to come out on the stage that night, thank God ! they could not get the people to set down, the upper balcony they were stomping so hard dirt from the rafter were shifting down on us at the bottom. after 3 times coming back out on stage, he finally told the crowd to meet cross the street he would finish the show there.. we did go, but heard it went until 4 am....
The greatest singer that ever lived. I miss him so much & love watching these videos. Thanks for posting them. btw..does anyone know why Marty would put his head on the microphone from time to time while he was singing?
its the first time i hear him and WOW great voice great music and the best part is that each song ive heard from him makes me feel happy or sad, he really gave it his all on every song i hope all the new songs from today were like that
I recognize the Opry stage in this video. I remember back in the late 70's there was a weekly show from the Opry. The whole family sat around watching. Marty was great, as usual. We were out of state at the time. At the end of the show Marty came back on stage - announced no one could go home yet because of terrible snow storm in Nashville. He continued to perform - and the TV station extended the air time too!! Great singer - great show man - Great man.
@Whodogtx So true- the junk they have on American Idol and Canadian Idol(I live at Newfoundland) is so less talented than the singers of long ago. KIds drive around here with car stereos full blast-Bonk, bonk, bonk beat-oh my- bring back the oldies.
Mr Robbins' s is what the ultimate performer is all about. Appeal, great voice, delivery, appearence and REAL. He had it all. He drove the OPry crazy. He would come from the Nashville Racetrack and perform on stage. He would always go over the time. He loved the people and his fans. Mr Robbins, You Climbed that Mountain. Love you and still enjoy your music.
Well..it's amazing.I am german boy, born in 1970 and I have rediscovered here Marty Robbins. First and last time I saw him on german Tv ,perhaps 1984,..in a german Country Festival in Frankfurt, presented by Freddy Quinn.
Great Performer and a great Band- Arrangement with some happy musicians, caused by his happy attitude,..I don't know. Thank you. Where can I get this CD..??
What an amazing live performance, will see his like no more.
He said ballads are his favourites, mine too.
The so called country singers of today have reasonable voices, but lack the tone that makes you really feel the words, and most of their songs the words aren't worth listening to anyway, you hear them once, and it's gone right out of your head.I remember the first time I heard my favourite song of Marty's,Fly Butterfly Fly,I knew the story and remembered the chorus. His voice stays in your memory.
Marty Robbins was, with out a doubt, one of the best perfomers in country music that ever lived. His concerts were the best I ever saw. From the time he walked on the stage until the time he walked off (which it wasnt unusual for him to sing for 2 1/2 to 3 hrs.) he gave his all to make you feel good. He never failed to succeed with me and I must have seen him more than a dozen times. I will forever more miss this man.
Absolutely right, lav3110, CLASS!!!! I wish I could've either known Marty, or seen him live, or both. I would've loved it in his inner circle, I reckon!!
i can still remember driving around with my dad in his 1971 cortina listening to el paso, i told my dad i liked marty just to go out for a spin in the car,i hated him really lol ,only now realising what a legend the man is,what a voice -him and my dad -they are my 2 hero's r.i.p both of you
i love the later clips of marty.he was funny in his performances and always had such a great voice singing any kind of music.thank you for these great clips.they are even better with earphones.what an entertainer.i miss him very much.
