Does anyone know whether the band is Willie's band or actors? Specifically, I wonder if the bass player is the band member who recently died of exposure to cold after a fall or simply an actor in the movie.
Just wondering if you all know the true origin of this song.....It seems, a Hells Angels rider speeding along a highway , crashed .....and willie took him under his wing until he mended and fixed his bike , and was on his way again.
My younger brother's wife a -mother of a 4yr and 2 yr old daughters was killed outright by a foolish young drunk driver driving the wrong way on a divided hiway at 100mph on a bet. She lost her life and he lost his bet (THANK GOD). This Willie Nelson song was played several times during her funeral and it is how I remember one of God's angels who was a Nurse on a childrens floor at a local hospital. Each time I hear it Kathy visits my heart and says SHE IS OK GOD LOVES HER.....THANKS WILLIE

Willie is a free spirit. Living life on life's terms! A lot of the stress today is what kills us. Yes his activity of choice keeps him young, because a person has to have something to smooth off the edges of life. Only Willie does not abuse himself, yet he still enjoys the release of a stimulant. I think folks should learn from Willie instead of trying to make his life more like theirs! It is the drama in life that kills people, loosen up , have some fun! She used to share stories with us her mother told her about after the battle of Gettysburg of Confederate troops passing through her home town here in Fairfield Pa. She said her mother told her the Confederate Army was very polite, the Union was not. She outlived all her sons but 1. She could remember the Wright brothers, WW1, Titanic, etc.

I went down to Texas from here in Missouri a few years ago to meet a friend of mine from California. And i said it was good to be back in the land of Bob Wills. This song will forever remind me of my ex-girlfriend. She was mentally unstable when I met her but I stayed with her anyways, always kinda knowing it couldn't last. She broke it off in the end and she's with another guy now. I miss her sometimes but this song helps me cope.

I went down to Texas from here in Missouri a few years ago to meet a friend of mine from California. And i said it was good to be back in the land of Bob Wills. And he didn't know who i was talking about. I told him to ask his Aunt Lucy (91 years old) and he said awww she wouldn't know who he is. And I said "Aunt Lucy have you heard of Bob Wills ?" And she said "Well Yes ! I've still got all his records, did you want to hear one?" No real point i'm making except My friend always knew everything.

Beautiful song. The movie doesn't get much acknowledgement, but it's one my favorite "musicals". I've seen it many times, and enjoy it and the music in it just as many times. Thank you for posting this song.

Willie is indeed a genious! To anyone who thinks this band is lame, You have NO BRAIN! Willie would not perform as well as he does if his band wasn't competent. These gents fully understand Willies unique style and support it well. This happens to be a timeless, very famous performance by the way. Th
