Good Video. However, there is nothing the UN can do to void the US constitution. The UN is an entirely impotent organization that drains billions of US tax dollars. @morningmayan You make a very good point. Though I, myself, never felt particularily unsafe. I imagine that the places where poverty is prevalent tends to need arms more. This is where helping to give people equal opportunity to a good education, good wages, good medical treatment, and a decent standard of living comes into play, I believe. Well for one there are no absolute guarantees in life! When push comes to shove or the SHTF you are better to defend yourself with a weapon of high potency than harsh words or the thought of loving the person who wishes to destroy you. Well I say how it can be easily minsunderstood, but you have to really understand the English language to fully understand the 2nd Amendment. Arms does NOT mean guns. Never has. Arms means "a combat branch of the military service, as the infantry, cavalry, or field artillery." Look it up in the dictionary. Therefore, the 2nd Amdendment very clearly states that the people have a right to a militia/military, not the right to own guns. Again, "arms" does NOT mean GUNS.

I do believe this to be true. I used to have a gun and I have seen some pretty ugly stuff so I'm not coming at this from a naive point of view. I have to agree with your entire point, including much of the Posters stuff is good but I don't believe guns are the answer. If you really look at the 2nd amendment it does not even guarentee the rights for an individual to own guns. It is for the country to raise a militia.
biz- you don't know what 'shall not be infringed' means? 'The People' is specific and does not refer to a state or agency. The right of the people to form and maintain militias. Laws are on the books *mandating* that citizens within certain age parameters maintain arms and train with their militias on a regular basis. Where were you last week? Your rank and file was empty.

Firstly, Australian's never really were forced to give up their arms, but a very clever move by John Howard (the former PM) saw to the gun ownership of the Australian populace plummet. No one forced them, they were just given incentives to sell their arms from the government. Crime has NOT 'skyrocketed' on the contrary, highly rare gun related violence occurs. Americans (the bad ones, mostly) now have a hypothetical moral highground that promotes gun ownership, through, the Second Amendment.

@morningmayan You make a very good point. Though I, myself, never felt particularily unsafe. I imagine that the places where poverty is prevalent tends to need arms more. This is where helping to give people equal opportunity to a good education, good wages, good medical treatment, and a decent standard of living comes into play, I believe. You know, we can help make it unnecessary for people to join gangs and therefore possess arms. Don't know 100%. Tough call.

Well for one there are no absolute guarantees in life! Whenever I say that Iraqis should be given equal killing capacity as American soldiers so that Iraqis can kill Americans invading their land, then a lot of these pro-Gun folks will say FUCKYOU to me.
Right now, I'm more concerned about arming the Iraqi and the Afghan people so that they can kill Americans invading their land and destroying their civilization.

Well I say how it can be easily minsunderstood, but you have to really understand the English language to fully understand the 2nd Amendment. Arms does NOT mean guns. Never has. Arms means "a combat branch of the military service, as the infantry, cavalry, or field artillery." Look it up in the dictionary. Therefore, the 2nd Amdendment very clearly states that the people have a right to a militia/military, not the right to own guns. Again, "arms" does NOT mean GUNS.

They have a low crime rate, because they all have jobs, money and food in their bellies. If you're jobless and hungry and have no hope of a decent life, you're more likely to steal and kill people. I think solely basing the lower crime rate in Switzerland with the ownership of weapons is incorrect. The US has ownership of weapons and a high crime rate.
The firearms amnesty in Australia has so far stopped another massacre. Crime is due to a number of other social factors (not specifically the availability or lack thereof of weapons).

I do believe this to be true. I used to have a gun and I have seen some pretty ugly stuff so I'm not coming at this from a naive point of view. I know love and compassion sounds a bit silly when somebody has an AK in your face but really we have tried so solve violence with violence for hundreds of years and it hasn't worked because it is not addressing the real problem at that basic level. I have to agree with your entire point, including much of the Posters stuff is good but I don't believe guns are the answer. If you really look at the 2nd amendment it does not even guarentee the rights for an individual to own guns. It is for the country to raise a militia.

biz- you don't know what 'shall not be infringed' means? 'The People' is specific and does not refer to a state or agency. The right of the people to form and maintain militias. Laws are on the books *mandating* that citizens within certain age parameters maintain arms and train with their militias on a regular basis. Where were you last week? Your rank and file was empty.

I know of the case, I didn't say the Supreme Court didn't guarentee our right to own guns. I said the Constitution didn't. The Supreme Court is more powerful than the Constitution. Any ruling they make over rides the Constitution.
