@hoehawk99 I'm 26, and I'm fine living right now. Keep in mind, a decade ago internet was still new and cheap broadband wasn't available yet. By living now, we get both the great songs of the past, and the goodies of today.
As for today's music, let's just say I didn't listen to radio since 2006. MTV won't even enter the question, it was out the proverbial door long before that year.
What a wonderful video. As an official member of the old codgers' club, I'll fill in some meanings: "Saving Lucky Stars" came from our notebook paper. The packs had paper wrappers with with a star on them. We saved the stars and mailed them in for prizes. "Sat. morning serials" were short stories we saw at the movies, Each week we saw another installment i.e."chapters 1-15". Movies were $.25 + $.10 coke & $.15 popcorn! "Mum's the word" meant you mustn't tell something you knew.

Sadly, I missed my chance to to see the golden days that once were. I am 14 years old, and I love the past; the Legends of music like Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra, the clothes like the fedora and the three-piece suit, the magnificent cars like the Hudson Hornet, the famed passenger trains such as the Milwaulkee Road's Hiawatha or the Southern Pacific's Coast Daylight; how I wish I could have been there, the days when people had morals and didn't need everything to be happy. Must have been fun
1.) “Pegging ones pants” was done by ripping open the inseams, removing a long triangular piece of material and re-stitching the seam to make the trouser legs fit tighter to the skin. It was not a folded and rolled cuff as done by kids in the Eighties.
2.) “White Bucks” were dyed white buckskin leather lace up crepe soled shoes.
i am to young to remember this but i really like this song
the country on the radio now is country this is way better most kid my age i have no idea who the stater brother are but i do and i am only 16 the best music ever
Love it. My mom and dad grew up in the 40's and 50's and I was/am so jealous. Now, my kids have to grow up in this world of entitlement and amnesty for all.
I was driving back to work today and heard this song on the radio. I thought somebody must have this on Youtube. This was incredibly fantastic, brought back a lot of memories, thanks
This is one of my favorites, good song. I have always liked the Statler Bros. I like classic country music, and the Statlers are part of the reason. They are a surefire talented group. Retired now, but their music will always played and listened to by countless fans.
well the hippies from the 60s, a focuson tv in the 70s to "show it like it is" with shows like ALL IN THE FAMILY, GOOD TIMES, CHICO AND THE MAN, electing morons for president like George W. and Obama--those are the liberal destructive freaks who destroyed the innosence and nice-ities of life. This song brings back good times and good memories--remember show like Beaver, Dennis the menace, Green Acres--none of this relaity tv crap.
Great video! This song was played over and over during my childhood as my dad was a huge Statler fan. I like the interesting choice to put WWE wrestler The Boogeyman in the video. GREAT JOB!
That was a great song with super Vid. Got a hand it to you - I love all types of music This was one of the best.

@Sgtrambom60 You may recognize them, but you can't remember them (from your childhood), because the song is about being young in the 1950's :)

Two visuals that were not right:
1.) “Pegging ones pants” was done by ripping open the inseams, removing a long triangular piece of material and re-stitching the seam to make the trouser legs fit tighter to the skin. It was not a folded and rolled cuff as done by kids in the Eighties.
2.) “White Bucks” were dyed white buckskin leather lace up crepe soled shoes.

The lyrics are "Styx nose plugs" not schticks snow globes--the shet music is wrong. Styx was a brand of nose plugs you used fro swimming
