  • hello there again , since i watched this video im wonderin how can i get to fully understand the diferent rithmic metrics you use so the grub is generated and gives you the possibilitie to work with the sustain and armonics etc. i think that im not a person with out any kind of musical ear etc , so i think there must be a memotecnic sistem or something to be able to caunt the diferent beats one by one cause i cant. would afro percucionist now how to caunt this? cause i asked a lot of djs...

  • LOVES!

  • thanks to this video i ended up learning what polyrithm and polimetry was all about...always thought i knew but i actually didnt :D

  • ENVY

  • by the way, you could not make these sounds only on a laptop. sorry.....

  • Finally a good vid of the Macbeth! Love the Roland seq and Space Echo too. Overall a very good and professional job, both musically and visually. Thumbs up!

  • Heard some dj spooky on Pandora the other!

    SO GOOD

  • @XYtoTheDoubleG this is a different artist. dj spooky aka paul d. miller does go under "that subliminal kid". i mistook the name at first too, peder mannerfelt aka the subliminal kid did some work on fever ray's debut album, a bunch of 12"s. he's more techno than dj spooky

  • I dig this!

  • You don't know ableton....Qbase....Flstudio....ahahahahah MAGIK!

  • what a waste of a 909

  • nice groove..

  • ISN'T DJ SPOOKY THE SUBLIMINAL KID??

  • H.O.U.S.E

  • such a young man, such a heavy beard.. i am agog..

  • THIS IS AWESOME, GREAT VIDEO MAN !

  • best modular jam on youtube!

  • @oooonek best mniml jam on you tube!

    i think....

  • that is pure heartbeat

  • Ik kan make nicer things with my gameboy only.

  • Show us your skills......

  • @boswachtersrule I am sure you dont know the difference between analog and digital.

  • @ArthurElectric You are right, i own about 120 Vintage Synths, so spot on.

  • @boswachtersrule

ik geloof er niks van, anders zou je wel wat chillers maken/uploaden dan joran van der sloot bullshit. bulliebopper

  • your synths are nice.

  • sojust for the macbeth and tr you deserve 100 stars...

    that rythm is tight!

  • STOOOOPPPPPP! Please your are hurting us humans with these insane grooves.

  • minkia ke studio

  • what a jam!

  • OMG ! wonderful =)

  • Fantastic!!!!!

  • Snygg klocka också.

  • It's always like this. Either a nice 4000 euro synth is being really manipulated by someone and it comes up with bleeps. Or you see some musician playing melodies with it, but never touches the sliders or knobs. Both could probably do their thing on less expensive stuff, but where's the fun in that? :)

Best M5N video so far. Thanks!

  • Wow, what a setup. LOL .

  • great vid bud.

  • крутая аппаратура. на ней такое загибать можно.. а чувак однообразно както играет. (

  • Good shit Kid, keep it up man. Wish I could afford a M 5 myself but hopefully will cop one in the future. Do you gig with this setup?

  • Not saying there aren't others out there waiting to be found, but this is the first vidi I've seen with anyone doing anything useful with the Macbeth. Burns my arse a little when someone's got a nice piece of kit, can't use it well ...but still throws up a "demo" on YouTube.

Hats off to the Kid for sure!

  • Yeah Thats it great Sounds:-)

  • Gud vad vackert.

  • What's the Problem? The Filming was very good. Nice viewing angles. Good Colors. Soundquality good too. The Music is of course a matter of taste in it's minimalism and rawness. But it seems you didn't catch the groove. :) What did you expect or dislike?

  • @lordoid I don't it's that special, but in the way that i could make the same thing with a few eurorack modules and a tr-909 but no one would care because i am not The Subliminal Kid and i am not using a Macbeth. You have to be a bit honest, if it was someone else and with a say Doepfer Dark Energy, you wouldn't give a toss.

  • @lordoid I think its not so much the music, but the 'pretentiousness' of it all. There's something about the 50.000 dollars one spends on the 'celebrity gear', and only this comes out. Some others then complain about how this makes this gear shoot up in price even more. I use gear as well and i know this can be easily made on a laptop alone, but there are people out there who instead just spend money for this gear to act cool. It's a trend. And that's why people hate this vid.

  • @LackOfTolerance maybe there are people out there who like to act cool with some gear....But i don't think you can make this sounds with only a laptop and if you can make this with a laptop alone it shure isn't as much fun as playing with the real deal.

  • @raak35 I'm not saying Subliminal Kid here does it though, but it's absolutely stupid to act cool with some gear, but alas some people love to do it (and they're mostly shit at making music as well). I prefer a bit more creative stuff with that amount of money spend but that's just a matter of opinion. I'll just stick with the ever expandable modular system.

  • @LackOfTolerance Do you know what dance music must sound like? And if you own a modular synth like you say you do then why don't you like other people sharing there stuff with us. Are you jealous? Did your plans of being famous fall in the water and now you cannot stand other people having fun doing it from the heart?

Get a grip and start living and learn help people don't put them down...you only put yourself down.

  • @raak35 Oh get a grip yourself, who can be jealous of this? Jealousy and fame are for the want-to-be's, fun is for the ones who make music just because they want to make music. Do you know what music is? It's art, not a product. So stop sobbing.

  • @raak35 Well said. Good interfaces for making music are not the same interfaces you use for checking your email and downloading pr0n. Ongoing backlash against software in the music business, at all levels, just look at the explosion in boutique hardware makers in the past 5 years.

  • Mixing like a DJ with a synth? That's an awesome way to work! Too many boring vids of people turning knobs slowly.....DANCE!...FEEL THE MUSIC!

  • 1:25 looks like he is having sex with it

  • the video looks great, nice colours!

  • I'm buying a M5 this week! this video helped push me over the edge, I'll have to do a response once I get my tr-909 in a couple weeks. woot!

  • how much does the M5 go for? Thanx ;)

  • like 5,000$ I think

  • very nice jam session!

  • Awesome rig..thanks for the demo. Tweaks on the run and presto...awesome improv!

  • Nice video, well done.

    I like it!

    mex

  • Raw....me like a lot!

  • Lovely!

  • wow very nice groove. i wish i had all this gear :)

  • this is the real minimal sound

    appreciate

  • nice one =D

  • is it possible to have a wav out of this viedo ? i mean not mp3 real wav . i love your sound :)

  • nice.

is the reverb in the end coming from the M5N?

  • roland space echo/chorus echo?

  • There's only one question lingering in my mind;

    What's with the Pinky Ring???

  • I really really like this!

  • I think this video compares in beauty with charle's cohen music easel performance. very, very, very good. This is absolutely great, musically and for the atipical gear association...

  • sorry! the komment below was addressed to chrismaguire! :D

  • fool!

  • That's a great Jam. Nice edgy tones and minimal percussion. Makes me smile! Greetz from Germany!

  • nice video and well made , spot the jealous commentors ;)i quite facnied a arp 2600 for years but the macbeth looks a good option also - nice and tangy.......

  • aha! thats the system 100 seqeuncer with the end cheeks removed patched to a macbeth m5n...crisp!

the 909 is providing support ;-)

  • nice rack ;P

Also super track great progression and tones

    !!

You have a cool friend with a good eye for video too.

    nice focus work.

    Peace

  • didn't expect to see that sys100 module, very interesting mix of gear.

  • when you get into the groove you dont notice you are moving around so much... :P

  • I don't think it's dj spooky=that sublminal kid

This is ' the subliminal kid ' from sweden

  • many kids with synths!

  • Motherfuc*er!! Fuc*ing Great!!

Beatifull pieces of gear, but most amazing of all is the control and music that this guy takes from his babes!! Wonderfull!congratulations!!
