  • Unknown sports car at 2:09, could someone please enlighten me. I think it is British, but could not find make.

  • A normal day on Gloucester Road, or as I call it, Frogger Road.

Many days I have cycled up this road at 7:30am playing squeeze-through-the-gap with buses and parked cars.

That first hill, at the Zetland junction is a bloody nightmare for cyclists, followed by the steeper hill at the Texaco petrol station (quite cheap fuel prices)

Going up Frogger-road is a battle against hills, and traffic. Coming down is a battle to stay on the bike and not end up as part of the road surface as red veneer

  • @Someloke8895 I know that everyone, from the Council to the government, wants more people to cycle. There's still a long way to go before Bristol becomes a good environment for cyclists. At the moment, anyone venturing out on a bike ought to be given a medal!

  • @localdriver Haha, boy do I know it. I've had Range Rovers trying to make me part of their integral chassis structure.

  • Nicely done, Dave; it was a lot going on Bristol this day, it seems.

  • @Bryant5493 You should see this road on a Saturday! Thanks for watching.

  • @Bryant5493 Gloucester Road is one of the main roads through Bristol and also forms the Bristol section of the A38, which is approx 470K/Ms long and goes through some 10 counties. It links Bodmin, Cornwall with Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

Bristol is one of most congested cities in Britain, and boy do the Bristolians let you know with their car horns!

  • At :07- I thought ALL yellow cars were banned in the UK in 2009?

At 1:34 What the heck do you buy at a store named, "Scoop Away?" I'm almost afraid to ask.

At 1:53 That's the closest I've seen you to hitting a pedestrian. Good show!

At 3:59 I don't think I'd want to eat at restaurant named, "Fungus"

Most of the bicyclists in this video were wearing gaudy neon colored vests either yellow or green & a few were not. What are the UK rules governing this? What color is your gaudy vest?

  • @safari55 Are you thinking of the 1782 ban on yellow cats, perhaps? Scoopaway is a health food store! (See their website.) Maybe Gloucester Road needs a few more official crossing places for pedestrians... Fungs (not Fungus!) is a Chinese restaurant! The DoT recommends cyclists should wear high-visibility clothing. They should also all get a medal for bravery for cycling in Bristol, if you ask me. Thanks, Tom.

  • I don't mean to knock your videos, but I think they would be infinitely better if you either muted the sound or left the raw audio. Still, good shooting!

  • @CptSchmidt I try to balance the sound between ambient and post-filming. It doesn't always work. I do leave windows partly open on each side of the car. Of course, you could always mute the sound when watching, if you don't share my old-fashioned musical taste! Anyway, thanks for watching!

  • It's very interesting to watch. Thanks!
