  • something very special about this song, so peaceful on hearing.

  • Herds of cows, fields galore, what wonderful memories, hard to find scenes like that anymore, isn't it? They do exist, they aren't gone yet but they are going, going... We were lucky those of us who grew up with songs like these AND the memories. Ohh, sing it, boys!! <3

  • very nice song and photos

  • Everytime this song manage to make me forget the hustle and bustle of life and calm my mind and soul.. the only song which have the ability to do that.. treasure this song deeply..

  • beautiful pictures, beautiful Quebec :)

  • This song has a way of transporting my mind to the land of nowhere where emotions and memories meet; yes, nice to remember. Thank you for sharing this song VideoCapo.

  • Lots of good recordings of this song... but this is the best. Nice pictures too. You have to wonder why a person would dislike it.

  • A very beautiful song done very beautifully. There is no more music like this any more, what a shame.

  • Every once in a while I come across a video set to music that is just perfect. This, is one of those rare occasions. I thank you for all your efforts in uploading. Simply exquisite!

  • this is the song that was used in the Taiwanese drama silence

  • remmber heards on top of heards of milk cows in the feields on the way to the beach. If they where all lying down it ment rain.Hey fiealds gallore too.All those farms are gone.

  • everyone says this song is beautiful, well, i had to sing this in chorus with 50 really anoying kids who cant sing whatsoever and would much rather talk about their top modern warfare kill.

    know my pain...

  • am wondering whether nowadays songs can be like this again xD

  • I was in college during the folk years. I remember going to my girlfriend's apartment, hoping her roommate was away.... That was '62. I graduated in Aug '63, and was told "if we don't get you in Oct. we'll get you in Nov." Hooray for the draft! I volunteered to go to Korea--and discovered that the ones who didn't went to 'Nam [1965]. But the folksongs bring back the time when I was ignorant of what would happen. Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.

  • @jonbocz We appreciate you for your service.

  • This is a beautiful song and every time I hear it, it touches my heart. I love this song and I enjoy this version as well as the ones by Ed Ames, Andy Williams, Patti Page and others.

  • this is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever written and perfected by the Brothers Four

  • Absolutely, CharlesMcGlade! What we need is a resurgence of the folk music spirit. I am doing my fair share, as humble as it it, to accomplish that!

  • You're the sweetheart here.

Your Dad could tell you that when you die, all you take with you is what you gave away. The folk era understood this.

  • Deep in December, it's nice to remember...

  • what a beautiful song, I remember my aunt used to sing me this song as a lullaby

  • Aloha to you sonjaige69 - how good to hear from you - when you can Melbourne is your place. We will have you cruising with fine food, sights and good friends. Would love to correspond - allchins@bigpond.net.au will find me ready for a chat. When I worked for Qantas, many friends went to Hawaii for holidays - nothing but praise. Get on the horn big boy and call - warmest Graham Melb Aus

  • Ah sonjainge69 - same here although I am 70 - I find it takes me back to those halcyon years where one was 25 and bulletproof. Not so now. Lovely words to break your heart again. Warmest to you Graham-Melb-Aus

  • @23zowie23

aloha from maui, hawaii, mate! australia is one country i have not seen yet but will!!!

  • i am 63, heard this song some 35 years ago for the first time.......

and i am trying sooo hard...

  • Absolutely beautiful song. Songs like this evoke a sense of nostalgia.

  • I heard it on 1991, and now I can hear this beautiful sound again. Thanks bro.

  • One of my most-loved songs. Brings bittersweet memories.

  • Great harmonizing. Thanks for uploading this. Great song.

  • This is lovely. I remember hearing this song on Captain Kangaroo as a little girl in the 1970s. I couldn't have been more than 4 or 5, and it touched me then as it touches me now. Would that song lyrics still had to be creative, clever, and clean. Our standards for good songwriting (and all other types of writing, for that matter) have greatly diminshed. Many thanks to the poster.

  • A Really Stunning version of this tune !! These Brothers could really sing.

But- listen to what the strings do at 1.57 .. it's really ... unUSUal !!! Sounds like

the recording engineer leaned on the Tape reel during the mastering process or

    something!!!

  • SILENCE ♥

  • This song is so sweet, my father love and i like too

This umages is so delicates and beautiful

Thank you foe this great video.

  • Oh My God this is GORGEOUS!

  • My oldest daughter died September 10, 2002. This song makes me cry.

  • THis song is okay for me but to my brother he thinks its awsome

  • to MatMorafAn...can't you acknowledge a beautiful song without making some dumb-ass political statement? Guess not. Take it to a different forum dipshit.

  • I like listening to these old songs, they are really calming and? relaxing

  • It's the song in the drama " Silence ", OMG, I ♥ !

  • It's hard for me to try to remember the lyrics of today music

  • Our country will be turning around this Nov 2nd. And this time, the American people have to make better decision - and Remember: No more far left liberalism ideology ever to be practiced in our country - not ever again! Enough suffering!

  • @MatM0nrofAn ...can't you acknowledge a beautiful song without making some dumb-ass political statement? Guess not. Take it to a different forum dipshit. Or...try to remember the Bush years numbnuts.

  • I used to hear this song from my brother in-law when I was a little boy and now I heard it again. It brings tons of good memories.

  • i've been looking for this song... finally....

  • Is... is... I just don't have enough words to explain how beautiful this song is. I think is one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard. It will be always on my tops. I love it! It makes me a better person, it makes me to dream and finally makes me to love... real love:) Very very very beautiful!

  • Beautifully played aw;):)

  • Has there ever been a song like this that evokes such memories and emotion in all people? I don't think so. This song reminds me of singing around the fire while my brothers played there guitars and everyone sang. It also reminds me of my Grandfather, a very kind old southern gentleman. So sweet, it make you smell the air of summer and see the fireflies and children trying to catch them at the end of a lazy summers day....

  • @jetsetjenny02 what a lovely recall, I envy what you had. You were very lucky. I can just envision it just the way you described it. Thankyou for sharing.

  • I do truly miss those days when songs were expressed with such respect for the hearer, and I also remember when you had to have talent to be on television or on the radio. Of course it's a brave new world now, and any kind of crap goes. I am sorry for you younger folks, I keep telling my way younger brother (by 20yrs) that he missed all the best music. He doesn't think so but you will never miss what you never had. Kinda sad.

  • What a soothing song -- also great to dance to, the slow waltz. It's so nice to remember the days of years gone by where terrorism, car bombs, airline hijacking, etc were still just words and not daily occurences. What has gone wrong with this world?

  • THIS SONG AND VIDEO IS LIKE HOLDING UP A MIRROR TO NATURE. WELL DONE,MON AMI. Take care ADonovan43

  • What a great song, and so pleasant to dance the waltz to this song with perfect tempo/beat. When dancing the waltz to this song, I can almost feel the nostalgia coming from even the women who are merely watching and listening. No current day song can match this one. Other songs like this for dancing are "Today", "Annie's Song", and "Last Waltz".

  • My oldest daughter died in an accident in September of 2002. (She was 10). This song always makes me cry.

  • I love this song. And what beautiful pics!!! Fabulous. Thank you for posting it.

  • one of my all time favorite!!!whenever i hear this song,i get emotional, the song really touches me so much!

  • A feeling of sadness...........".........if you remember...........then follow.........". Featured in the great 1960 musical The Fantasticks. The 1965 version of the Brothers Four.

  • Een echt zomerliedje, ook al gaat het over september. Mooi.

  • My favorite song !!!! Mezmerizes me a lot. Feels like the world is so fresh and green.

  • Memories, memories................

  • Very nice, soothing ....

  • I so LOVE this song, it's like angels singing, of younger, freer days. Remember?

  • to js Please try to remember 4:30 on Fridays

  • I used to think this song was a folk song, but it actually comes from a Broadway musical called The Fantasticks. Love it...it sounds very folky, the way they sing it.

  • My mom remember this song since she was like 7.

  • One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I like this version as well as the one by Ed Ames and the one by Patti Page. This song reminds me of my you many years ago.

  • love this song <33

  • Ed Ames version is classic, his deep baratone voice still echoes in my mind.

  • Very pretty! Thanks for the memory!

  • i love this beautiful song

  • When I was just 2-1/2 my parents moved the family to California on

Old Highway 66. I had the chicken pox and recall the blistering heat of the Mojave Desert blasting through the window of their 1955 Ford station wagon. But I loved the desert, and more than 50 years on I still do. This song takes me back.

  • @Albacorewing LOL! I was 5 when I moved to CA! We moved to Tehachapi in the high desert.I certainly remember the trip, and the signs and hotel's that looked like Wigwams !And the old favorite saying"Are we there yet" Ha,Ha! Those were the days, when a poor person cd, still afford gas! This song does bring it back!

  • This song reminds me of my best time in my life. Now I regret that I did not appreciate those moments. I wish I could stop the time from running and I could go back to those beatiful moments.

  • Cherished and treasured.

  • This, to me, is the DEFINITIVE version!

But, of course, I've never heard a bad version. This is one song that is beautiful, no matter who sings it. The original, by Jerry Orbach, which I also like, was played on local easy listening stations where I live(Charlotte, NC

  • I prefer this than the Harry Belafonte version. If you like this version then you'll like the Korean version. Just enter "Try To Remember Piano" in the search box. See if you like it too.

  • @cmulwee001 No argument from me. This IS the Definitive version! "Try to remember the kind of September

When life was slow and oh, so mellow." Wow, I don't know if I can. I'm teary eyed now. What a beautiful song! I just added it as a favorite. This song helps me remember when music was beautiful "and noone wept except the willow". Does anyone have the sheetmusic for this? I'd really like it. Thanks and God Bless!

  • This fine version ranks up there with the original by the late Jerry Orbach and that of the incomparable Ed Ames.

  • what a great song--makes me think of friends and romanaces from the past

  • and also present and future... I hope

  • @rextex2009 I am in my "December" and I do remember the great years when this kind of real music was popular, now, I fear the music is fading, as I am, but my children, and theirs, carry it on, my thanks to VideoCapo for the beautiful post...

  • This song does bring back a lot of memories. As a Adult I offten think of those "tender"days that have gone. I guess we all reflect back and really cherish those childhood "good ol days"

  • This song does bring back a lot of memories. As a Adult I often think of those "tender"days that have gone. I guess we all reflect back and really cherish those childhood "good ol days"

  • @slombardo101 You got it in one. I still, after all these years , think of all my friends and what happened to them. Long time ago.

  • @slombardo101 No doubt there is sad n sweet memories in our life, this song just makes me so mellow and sad. There is alot of things to think about especially at this christmas eve, when I just spent it in my room facing the computer. Just feeling kinda lonely like no one seems to care. In fact we are not alone cos there are so many friends out there who do care, isn't it? Merry Christmas to u n people out there!! Be Happy!!!

  • perfect !!!

  • My dear old dad is nearing the end of his Journey through this life. He's led a long & happy life. This song so captures the bitter-sweet feelings I'm going through as I remember all the good times we've had along the way, but that now it's time that I must say goodbye. My favorite version by the Brothers of this song is on the PBS DVD "This Land Is Your Land--The Folk Years". I haven't found it on YouTube. Try Netflix or eBay,

    it's worth it. Peace...

  • I'm sorry to hear this, Pete.

  • @HeinekenPete I hear you buddy. I lost my Mom very recently, and I remember when she was so full of life and always going. I have some fond memories of my childhood, and I have so many wonderful pictures of my Mom. She lived a long life though, and she's with Jesus now, and she's strong and whole again. I think of my childhood and her when I hear this song. I will lift up you and your family in prayer. God Bless.

  • @HeinekenPete I only hope I have half the strength you do when a time like this crosses my life

  • @HeinekenPete After awhile I hope all the good things you remember about your dad outweigh the sadness.

  • @HeinekenPete I just came upon this thread, I am so sorry, especially if your dad has passed, but I must say, having read your post, you are a son that anyone would be proud of, your comment brought me to tears. I wish you peace.

  • @HeinekenPete I am so sorry, losing a parent is very hard, however you sound like the son everyone would want. peace be with you.

  • @HeinekenPete I found your comment so very touching, I suspect that your dad has passed by now, please accept my condolences, and know that your sentiments would make any parent proud.

  • Beautiful!

    5******!

  • Also listen to the Lettermen's version.

  • thanks, peace, and merry xmas

  • very nice

  • This performance was a tapestry of exquisite harmony that became the signature of The Brothers Four.

  • I don't know why I can't help weeping...

    I love this song.

  • memories comes...

  • i love the old songs..i dont care what other people would say even if im just 26.....thanks belgarion65 and slombardo1...nice mcomments actually..

  • @jan906mp Good for you, and I'm very impressed! You keep listening to these Beautiful and timeless songs. You'll be glad you did as the years pass. These songs have deep meaning. I feel sorry for people who didn't get to grow up with beautiful songs like this one and countless others. This song is a gem.

  • @beautifulmusiclistnr thank you..Im not ashamed that I love oldies eventhough Im just 26 years old..Old songs have deep impact in my life..It always reminds me that life is simple yet full of abundance..

  • Beautiful, timeless.... once upon a time we used to sit with guitars... and sing softly... this was one of those songs..

  • loreleiwagner did not say that she(he?) thought those older days were perfect. The 60s was a period with student riots and changes. it was also a time of creativity and change. It was those young men and women that asked for change. Today our young people care only about getting a good pay. There is no soul.

  • loreleiwagner, the 60s weren't all June Cleaver and Ward! Remember the riots, the burnings, the German Shepherds unleashed on people? I liked some of the nice things of back then, but it wasn't all La-La Land either.

  • my mom heard this song while watchin her chinese drama movies. i heard the song and fll in love with it automatically!!!! i ♥ this song!!!!

  • haha, same here. Only it was my older sister watching it. But none the less I was swept away by the sweet melodic song

  • The DEFINITIVE version!

  • this is so cute! I've never heard this song before!!!! AWE! 5*'s

  • Listen to Harry Belafonte's version of this song. It's unforgettable.

  • Thanks for this post. It brings me back to my youth when we listen to this on a 33.5 speed turntable; HI-FI set (high-fidelity).. when everything is simple and oh! so mellow.......SIGH!!

  • I wasn't born yet when this song was created. I over the years had heard it from time to time & thought it to be kind of corny. However, I'm much older now & realize how creative & beautiful it is and I want thank you for reminding us of it & sharing it with all of us. Thanks again.

  • In these troubled times in the USA, it's nice to hear songs like this & remember how much more simple life was then, compared to today. In those days people seemed more innocent and were taught to use their talent & allowed to be creative. Today our schools do not teach proper etiquette, good morals and creativity is not allowed. Individualism is a thing of the past. Kids today are being dumb ed down & conditioned out of creativity. It is very sad we allow this to happen.

  • When I hear this song It does bring back alot of tender memories that I have left behind. I thing It does say what life should be like. I was just a younster when this was created. Our kids today need to slow down and injoy the little things before their gone. One day you look In the mirror and say wow, where did the good old days go. It seems just yesterday I was a boy. Then you look again and say wow time flew by. The song hits home for me In a very big way.

  • @loreleiwagner I am 20 now, I am going to college to be a teacher. But you are definitely right about how individualism is a thing of the past. They say it is all over the place but when you have Hannah Montanna dressing in $500 dollar dresses on the left and Justin Bieber with a $500 dollar hair cut on the right, it is kinda hard to believe. Also, I saw an interview, I think Jimmy Stewart said that there's no spontaneity in entertainment anymore entertainment now has such a formula.

  • @loreleiwagner Obama's to blame for the state of things in America today.

  • @iw32 I am not a obama supporter but if I have to blame someone, it had to be american people themselves who embraced far left liberalism. I feel this country has been changing for worse in every aspect for last three decades. Isn't it ironic that we are moving towards socialism while china is moving towards capitalism?

  • @loreleiwagner I completely agree with you! They don't want kids to have critical thinking, banning books like "The Grapes of Wrath" and "1984". We are on a roller coaster heading downhill very fast! Who knew that when looking back at the sixties we would call those "the good old days"!!!!

  • a very relaxing song!!!!!

  • Thank you.

  • Wish someone could dig up the Brothers Four doing Lennon and McCartney. Their rendition of If I Fell was great.

  • :) thanks. 我非常之喜欢!

  • 同感

  • I seem to be a little older than previous contributors. The original by the incomparable Jerry Orbach, for me, will always be the best.

  • Thanks for posting this very wonderful song which takes me down memory lane.

  • beautiful melody

  • This is a very pretty waltz. What cd is it from? Thank you, Chris

  • EEE!

all the different versions.. so great (:

  • So lovely so gentle I can listen to it on and on

  • 感動毎度!

  • try to rember, and never forget the kind of september

  • I wish I could find the best version of this - Glenn Yarbrough's.

The New World Trio had a big hit with their version (in the UK & Australia) back in the 1970s

  • Beautiful, beautiful song and beautiful video! Thanks!

  • An even better version, check them out performing this live on the PBS special "This Land Is Your Land-The Folk Years" , available on DVD.

Not a dry eye in the place...

  • of all the versions, this is the best....Ed Ames also had a great rendition of it too!

  • This is definitively the very best perfomance of this beautiful ballad. Thank you so much for providing this Brothers Four classic to all of us. I tried to emulate this arrangement with two guitars and vocal (multi-track recording), but it's impossible to replicate their version. I'd love to hear your comment on my contribution (enter Blinkymyt or "Try to Remember - (John Dennis Dickey)" on the Search Bar)". Have you heard their rendition of "The Honeywind Blows"? Uniquely beautiful, also.

    John
