Damn i used to watch this everday after school along with B.E.T and record rap and r&b video from 1990 up until about the year 1996....after 1996 i still recorded stuff but it was less frequent cus i graduated high school
RUN DMC, FATBOYS, LL Bruce Springsteen, Prince David Byrne (talking heads) Madonna, Aha, Hendrix, James Brown,Bob Marley don't know the guy who kisses the girl and O yea Kuriaki from the Rocksteady crew!
@COBALT6ixty Bernard Wright was the guy who kissed the girl. He sang (Who Do You Love, Are You For Sure)... Damn! With all this craziness going on today (Bad Economy, Kids Style of Fashion, Digital Takeover, Lame music & video to match) I remember when these things were good, when their were limited to us....Now everybody got everything, but really have nothing compare to the memories of good ol' hard times... lol
Wow this takes me back!! Being in the Bronx and watching this on my TV where I had to turn 2 the channel using the weird channel knob on the top of the regular knob which would get me to Channel 31. After school I couldnt do any homework or anything else until after Video Music Box went off. WOW....the 1980's.....I miss those fun years when the music was actually good. You could actually turn on the radio to 98.7 Kiss FM and Hot 103 when they played good hip-hop!!
_____Now THAT'S a time warp, dude! There was once a time when televisions had KNOBS and DIALS. You remember all the freaky things you had to do to get decent reception back then? We had ALL KINDS of mutant-looking antenna devices hooked up to the backs of the big clunky teevee-boxes--some with extra switches, some with lil' plastic satellite-dish thingies. Then there was the ol' standby of tin foil! Damn, analog tv is dead for good.
@Egglesplork..............I feel you on that one, its so cool finding someone who can remember all those old school things we had to do to in order to get decent reception. All the knobs, all the tin foil, all the wrenches and pliers used to turn the TV channel when your knob broke off.....Real TV watching....LOL......it was crazy but regardless fun...As always miss some of the small things from back in the 80's that are so easily forgotten. Thanks for reminiscing with me.
Yo, thanks for the upload. Brings back good childhood memories. I remember after school I used to watch this then I would go outside and play some street sports with my friends.
@mx6lover Word, it would come on at 3:30, right? Channel 31. I still remember the daily themes. Old School Monday, R&B Tuesday, Wednesday would be a repeat of the previous Friday, Nervous Thursday with Crazy Sam, and Friday would be a new show. Raplh was also playing west coast artists who weren't getting played on BLS or KISS, too. I didn't have cable, so VMB was my introduction to NWA & them.
I'll tell you cats something...I remember coming home back around 91-92, from Junior High/Middle School, just to watch this show.
I saw Ralph McDaniels at my job not to long ago. A super, super GUY!
This show was so before it's time, a million steps above YoMTV raps, which only aired on Saturdays right before or after Head Bangers Ball, and that was after midnight, more around 1am. MTV played no WRAP videos, back in those daze(days) ~~!!~~
I wanted to be in the club so I could give a shout out lmaoooo
