dear bartleby 2007 sorry to say but thats not belew on guitar..in fact none of the musicians on this track played their own instruments.. whilst recording in the studio bowie decided to swap all the musicians around .. so you would have eg bass player on keyboards , drummer on guitar etc . etc.. bowie said it was like having kids in a sweetshop ..thats what gives this song its rawness.. or so the story goes..

I'm pretty sure the last "girl" is a reference to (homage to? parody of) Marlene Dietrich, with whom Bowie had acted in "Just a Gigolo" the previous year. The song is great, too, though Eno's characteristic "rock" chatter, sputter, and drone are awfully strong in this track.

I love that the drummer is playing bass (though badly enough that even Eno balked and Tony Visconti added bass), the guitarist is drumming (no, not Belew, who CAN play drums), and so on. Despite what various of my friends think, the guitar solo is supposed to sound like that and is not more Enossification. :)
