I've always loved Johnny Gimble. I really love the twin fiddles on faded love. Nothing like it. Tanya Tucker even refers to it in her song "Cowboy Lovin' Night".Good stuff.....
My guess is this was when Mr. Gimble lived in the Oaklands in Round Rock but his tour bus(as a multi Grammy winner) was not allowed and he moved on. There were lots of recording sessions there and RR missed out on a treasure.
My guess is this was when he lived in the Oaklands in Round Rock Texas but his tour bus was not welcomed so he moved on. Good stuff we will never get back.
Johnny Gimble was a barber in the Ft. Hood area and he gave me my first haircuts. My dad had western bands back then and I remember him telling me that johnny was the World Fiddle champion at the time (around 61 to 63) Most people don't know how much in demand he was during his career. The Greatest.
.MY sweetie and I especially enjoy this video. These fellows are just GRAND! The fiddles sound sad and mournful as are the words to this song. WE LOVE IT!
? I don't understand your comment. about Australia - Aly Bain is Scottish (from the Shetland Islands). The others are Americans because the programme was about American music.
@RasMajnouni This is Bob Wills' signature tune. Aly is one of the great fiddlers from Scotland, that's Johnny Gimble and his son Dick; Johnny is already in the Country Music Hall of Fame, a fine all-around musician and played in Bob Wills' band in the late 40's and early 50's. Alvin crow is a Texas fiddler. I agree with onetalltxn, this is one that'll give you chill bumps indeed! What a fine video and thanks crtUK for it.

Say Johnny Gimble and his 'Faded Love' fiddle comes to mind. But when it comes to singing it, I really give a hats off to Willie. And how about Aly Bain fitting right in here.
Check out some of Aly's work. He has a great gift.
My 11yr old daughter is learning to play the fiddle (very blessed to have Shelby Eicher teaching) and this is our favorite song she's learned so far. I can't tell you how many times she's played along with this video! It never gets old.
PRICELESS rendition of the 'Texas National Anthem' How'd you get that many fine fiddle players in one room together??????? Thanks so much for sharing this!

Is "Aly Bain" a city or state in Australia? They all seem to be Americans . Are they Ambassadors of Goodwill to DownUnderland?
