I met Paul Berrif today at a film editing course. He told me about Werner Herzog's Lessons of Darkness (which I love) and I was quite stunned by that but I was even more stunned when I went home, looked him up and saw that he was involved in the rescue mission of the Piper Alpha disaster, survived a helicopter crash and owns a hotel. What a hero.
i was actually looking for the theme tune to this series. it was on here but having trouble finding it..i know the full version from the soundtrack was on a lads photo compilation of the helicopter exerzising with a life boat ?
I am trying to find the rescue series if anyone knows where to find them, it would be great if you could let me know where they are as my dad was part of the crew and I'm looking to get them on to dvd for him.
i can remember all the names of the crew off by heart as i watched them that many times..which one is your dad then?..if you dont want to say..then whats was in nick name if any?
i remember these on tv.the first one"Budding Rose" about a sinking fishing boat and piper alpha and"sting in the Tail" which was the last one in series about the rescue heilo actually crashing were the best one . i wonder if anyone could upload those?? would love to see them again.
whats sad is since life is about money and not good deeds or doing the right thing cause nobody is tought that anymore not tomany people will have jobs likke this. not to mention it must be hard for you guys to live since life has a price on it. Im realy just trying to make a point. but job well done, hopefuly that guys lives to die another day.
I remember this series very well and think it pretty well defined the 'rescue' type program. There have been many other programs on the matter since but to my mind Paul Berriff series captured the RAF SAR's work, particularly the Piper Alpha episode, and the 'Sting in the Tail', as I recall.
Hi, just want to say how well you all work as a team, its absolutley amazing! Paul Berriff is a very good friend of mine, I totally admire him for his work and courage. I think by chatitng to him he loved filming this series with 202 Sqn.

Hello Mike. Everybody was there for the same purpose: the poor guy under the snow.
