Good News you no longer have to do this. Now you can go to your Wireless setting if you the 2.2 froyo and their will be a Mobile AP option. This is a mobile Airport that allows Wireless Tethering. Hope this helps.

@runekevin21 why would you want kies to do this? if you guys haven't checked, it's easy as 1,2,3 to USB tether your galaxy s for t-mobile i have one. Just plug your usb from your phone to the computer, and go settings wirless & network, and select Tethering and your done -.-!

Kies is a big hunk of app if you just want to tether. I installed it but saw a bunch of UI error artifacts and decided not to use it. I use PDAnet. It's easy to install and has no issue with 64 bit driver. I get 2mb download and about 0.5 upload on 3G t-mobile in 90045 Los Angeles.

@yantravimana pdanet is ok until you have to buy it ( or you cant go to any site where a secure login is required which is almost everywhere...) which is why i didn't comment yesterday...the thing with kies in this video hes using 1.5.1.10074_2 not the 2.0 version that you get from samsung now ... because they fixed it. 1.5.1 is still out there but you have to look for it.. the only way i got it was to download it on my phone then transfer it over

@MrMunke Yeah Ive heard that PDAnet will block port 443 and I've seen posters who said they haven't been blocked. I have not been blocked yet. If PDAnet blocks me later there are other alts I can try.

Nevertheless. Samsung Kies says my Samsung Vibrant device is not supported. It seems the Kies version they offer now is not the same as the one in this video. Zedomax should take this down if this is the case.

I understand the restrictions t-mobile put on their phones but with software this should be possible...we have the drivers and know the connection details.

I found a program called PDAnet. You install it on the phone and on the PC, and it's very easy and works great. The only downside is that PDAnet is $15 after you've used it 14 days, but that's a very reasonable price IMHO.

T-Mobile is now charging 14.99 a month to be able to use your phone as a modem. I just called, and they said that there is nothing that they can do.

This is no longer working. Samsung, Google or T-Mobile caught on and disabled the function. The only alternative is to find the driver out there somewhere and install it yourself. Or wait for T-Mobile to someday send us Vibrant owners Froyo  :-( Don't hold your breath..

tethering with wifi would only be useful for a very short period as the battery would die pretty quick.

It does work, you need to make sure you download the samsung kies UK version because when I first tried I got the US version and it didn't work. After you download the Samsung Kies UK version follow the video, then only problem I ran into was that the phone didnt connect right away, so I restarted my computer and everything was fine. After that follow the video and everything works, I am actually commenting on this video by tethering, its pretty fast.

hi, I've been trying to connect mine ever since I got it, I've tried to connect it the same way you did, nothing happened, it only brings up the 4 choices, and when I choose Kies the USB screen like you have at 1:40 doesn't come up and nothing changes in the phone nor in Kies.

@liviDream Is not normal. I have a Motorola Backflip and I can make phone calls while I'm on the internet. I guess the Samsung phones aren't like the others that allow you to tether.

@burgavo1 actually i think i set it up wrong. it didn't allow me to safely remove either. and i can receive phone calls and text, but i just can't leave the home screen in order to enter my contacts. if that's not the case, froyo should fix all that. i just wish they'd hurry up

Does this Kies method actually work in the USA? A lot of ppl are commenting saying that it does not work. I am thinking about getting the Vibrant but do not want to root b/c I want to get the 2.2 Froyo update. Anybody have success with this Kies method recently? How fast is your internet? @chicagopride23 Yes, this method is for USA T-Mobile Vibrant, follow exactly and it will work fine, FAST speeds, I got 1.5Mbps download, which is fast for me here in San Francisco.

the thing is once you tether your samsung vibrant its says if you do this it will break connection with the device. it really does after you use it you have to uninstall the samsung device driver then reinstall it to get it to connect back to the kies app.

Samsung's site says Kies is only for Europe and not the US. I tried to make the software work on my laptop but it gave me problems so I got rid of it. I will try once more after setting the device's USB setting to Samsung Kies to see if that makes any difference.
