i'm very careful about who i let cut my hair. i remeber when i used to work for Cedar point and i had a lot of hair on my head. it was annoying to have while working at the park so i decided to get it cut. i didn't know where to get my hair cut so i went to downtown sandusky(small town USA) and got it cut there..i can tell he didn't know what he was doing...there was patches of curled and wavy hair and areas of thick and thined hair..he ruined me.
good thing a friend new how to cut hair...she fixed it for me... if i go to japan i dont want the same to happen to me... i supose if i straighten it out..they would ruin it if it was curly...
Yeah i know what you mean my hairs really freaking curly and i cant do much with it so i have to keep it short but my curls are natural so i can comb it back and stick it bu forward in the front which is cool but when it drys it gets fuzzy which i dont like...
as far as i've seen the places with the spinning cilinder kind of thing (2:23) are men only. the biyoin (not to be confused with byoin :P) are usually for both. even though mostly women come there, and guy who like to spend a little more money on their looks. never been to a men only salon though.
Nice episode. I just recently started watching your videos and they are something else. When I get a haircut I just tell them I want it short but not short enough so I can spike it with gel. OH yeah, did you just say "waxed it," as in your hair? I've never herd of that before...
You've got that right Japanese people are increditably (Bad spelling >.>) beautiful i would prefure a japanese girl friend because American girls are so mean to me...The Japanese ones ive met are very sweet and nice
Yea, the place the I used to go in Atsugi Kanagawa was cheap and had really good stylist. That place is called "11cut" and they literary try to cut within 11 mins. About $13 to 15 with student discount. Ask for texturizing if you wanna try looks from japanese style. It's called Muzousa(無造作). It gives you the flow on your hair. Is the place you went PARCO?? That store you were kinda looked like one of my favorite store, "Back Number."
Secondly I want to show my appreciation for showing a more personal side of Swan. It's cool to follow how your growing throughout the series! Very rad dude!
yeah i wouldn't pay anymore than $20 for a haircut.. and that includes a tip. nice cut though. You went from nice guy to bad ass lol. Now you need some shades for the summer!
I think I remenber you saying that you are leaving JP in June or July. What is going to happen to the show? Personally i would like to see dubai swan. From a tokyo swan fan.
i leave july 29th. personally, i've not decided what to do in terms of videos when i'm done here. I don't want to overstay my welcome here on youtube. I'd rather go out with a collection of good videos then keep chugging along and becoming a parody of myself... but you never know haha.
hope you don't leave from youtube! Always look forward seeing your new videos.I use to be a Keio student myself in the late 80's to early 90's.I use to go to a barber inside Hiyoshi campus above the Seikyo.
That's pretty good. You shop cheaper than I do. When I go clothes shopping I go a lil bit out lol. Of course I don't shop that often so I'm not that bad. ;)
oh well that explains alot. I have been wondering where they went and started thinking that u stopped all together. well w/e. you should really post like some sort of update somewhere IMO.
yeah, it's all a question of different regions though. All my dvds are american bought region 1... and most players here are the japanese region 2 haha.
Tokyoswan what do japanese people think about long hair? Im going this summer so would it be wise to get it cut or just leave it shaggy, or does it really matter?
as long as it is kept nice and clean it should be ok. I see younger Japanese business men with long hair on a daily basis and it seems ok for them. Of course, I think it would be higher maintenence to take care of, so shorter hair just might be easier haha.
I personally hate haircuts. My dad is a barber, but I'm a guitar player and a biker, so that's the double-whammy for having long hair. I think my dad is getting repaid for all those hippies he buzzed before going to Vietnam in the 60's! Enjoyed the show Roger. It's always fun watching "every day Tokyo".
Wow they give student discounts? Nice! I wish my hair place did that. Where I go here in the States it's $20 for my shape up since I don't get it cut cause I like it where it's at and all. I'm glad you had a good hair cut experience. It pays off sometimes to be picky eh? Are you going to be a regular now at this place? Aw you look very nice with your hair cut like that. You should have it that way more often and I liked the shirt at the end. I love Japanese fashion!
man, that is a great looking haircut.. 13- wow.. i pay 15 if not 20 for mine.. which is the reason i havent got one in a while.. haha. from california
Pretty swank new look, Swan. Fresh styles, all around.
These kind of episodes are fun. I guess because it's just kind of neat to see Tokyo (and Japan in general. Or..any foreign country) as is. All that stuff.
I find adventures like this to do rather 'mundane' things are by far the most interesting. If you could ever get away with filming in a grocery store or 7-11 that would be fun :D!
I just realized something though, and it is quite silly, your arms must get tired from holding the camera out so far after awhile XD.
I really like your new haircut! I know what you mean about feeling self-conscious. When I was in London everyone was so stunning and I felt like an ugly duckling the whole time.
lots of cute footage of Hiyoshi in the background ne~ I forget what you said, but I'm sure I heard a bit of an English accent creeping in there, you said "~to be honest". See, me and George Michael are having a good influence on you!
Informative, Girlie Haircut? Dude, nice cut. Dosen't look too girlie! You are styling now. Would have been 10x better if you had shot video in the hair salon. It was a fun episode though! Thanks.
i wanted to, but the dude working gave me a weird look when i got the camera out haha. plus there were some little kids with moms and i didn't want to come across as creepy pedophile lol.
I unerstand. Sometimes it's cool to pull out the camera and sometimes its not. But let me tell you this. In Japan, people in are so, so, very so used to seeing people with their cameras out and these days I never hesitate to capture the moment. If somebody asks me to stop filming, I politely stop, and say ごめんなさい。 Come on, take your vids to the next level! I like you stuff man!
When I lived in Asakusa I used to get my hair cut for 700yen in the subway stn. All they do is shorten your hair, no styling whatsoeva.
The place I get my haircut in Chiba is 6000yen (2000yen hair cut + 4000yen for dying and like 3 shampoos). But the cool thing is, since I go there often enough they have a binder for me showing each haircut I get when I get there so I can be like "um....gimme the one from last October, I liked that better than the one in August" lol.
even here in the inaka it can be pretty expensive... I pay 3400 yen for my haircut, but that includes a shampoo and a nice, brief shoulder massage. Well worth it.
