What would you suggest the IV is as my teacher has told me that it's REM but that would suggest it would be a quasi experiment as REM cannot be manipulated as it's impractical to do so?

@StormedAssassin Forget my last question, I realised that the IV is where Ps were in REM or NREM when woken which can be manipulated as researchers can use EEG readings to see which stage they're in

@XxCloooooxX EOG was also used; they had to measure the eye movement so they could compare it to the content of the dream.

Again I'm checking the textbooks and two out of the three that I have state that electro-occulogram measures were taken by placing electrodes around participants' eyes to objectively measure eye movements.

The original study talks of electrodes being attached to the eyes to measure eye movements: surely this is evidence of an EOG being used?

Sleep can be measured in a number of ways:

Using equipment such as EOG, EMG, EEG. Dement used EEG only

he used EOG to measure eye movement
