i'm not the greatest @ playing bass, but i can lay down a few jams w/ my friend playing drums. i feel like i'm not that bad, if we were to play a little show in his garage & invite friends to a party or whatever, i'm sure they would actually dance/get down to it. ..Although, the reason i'm commenting is this: My slapping. for some damn reason, i can't get it to work right. i've watched multiple slap-technique videos, & just can't figure it out. i play an Ibanez Gio. i dig this video tho.

EMG pickups are my favorite kind of pickups they got great flexability in playing different styles though you could use more pronounced punch especially with your percussive muting in your slap style i highly recomend a bad ass bridge. you still sound great any way! you inspire me!

does your amp have a compressor. that makes the sound crisp when slapping. also, try changing your bass' tone also. bass gits with active pick ups are also good for slapping and popping technique.

Set your treble and mid half way and the bass all the way. That or just buy some ernie ball slinkys.

Try getting your bass set up at your local guitar/bass specialist....before i did mine slapping my bass sounded like banging two pots together. no joke

Try to keep that slapping thumb parallel to the neck, you'll have a bit more control.

And your arm should be postioned in such a way that you'll almost seem to be hugging the guitar.

try to hit the string with your thumb parallel to the string you're hitting rather than it perpendicular. You'll be able to play more accurately and eventually much faster.
