fucken sick, i got a 95 chevy s10 zr2, i cant wait to take her out in the snow, and im havin problems with what i think are the front ball joints. i usually hear a deep pop when i turn kinda sharp... same thing with u?
hey just bought a 4.3 blazer(2001) and some dumbass took cat off and put glass pack in its place then left stock muffler and i want to take the muffler off and just leave glass pack. did you loose any mpg?and i cant tell relly how loud it is with music lol, does it have pretty good toneand not over loud?thnks man
It should be not to much noisy, even if it's almost strait pipe, the glasspack removes all the clicking sound of the engine. I don't know about the mpg, i don't really care 'cause it's not my everyday vehicle. But if your check engine light is ON, your engine will burn more gas. You got to trick out your O2 sensors with a simulator adaptor... Take a look to my recent videos on my channel to see how it sounds.
If you want to see real power gains form your 4.3L, put and edelbrock proformer intake on it. you get a chip for your computer and it adjusts everything. shift rates, fuel flow, and advances your timing for higher rpms. i put it on my 93 cheyenne and the power gain is very noticable. worth the $500, and about 4 hours to change it out.
I know it doesnt really matter but which one is better to get...the GMC Sonoma with everything like the Zr2 package and the 4.3l v6, etc or to get the Chevy S-10 With everything like that...i mean theyre almost exactly the same car right? but does one have like better towing power or anything over the other one ...please give info...lookin for my first car here lol oh or in that catagory would a blazer or a jimmy be better with all that haha thanks...
The ZR2 Sonoma or the ZR2 S10 are the same except for the look. The front end is slightly different. The ZR2 Blazer or the Zr2 Jimmy are only available in 2 doors. I prefer the trucks body detached from the bed so I can transport dusty and oily parts.
We had a 2003 GMC Sonoma stock. That thing hauled a** in the snow. Never once got stuck. Though we did end up having to pull out stuck full Size Silverado's with lift kits and Full size dualies. It was pretty funny watching a little V6 pull out a lifted V8 if you ask me.
I bought a Chevy S-10 (2000) brand new 4x4 March of that yr. It had 31X10.5 I drove that truck for seven yrs. It also had the 4.3 in it, But in October '07 I traded it in for a 2007 Dodge ext.cab which has a 3.7 -V6. But has a 22 gallon gas tank.
I have the EXACT(Make, model, color) same truck, and was doing the same stuff when got stuck in snowy ditch this past winter. I had it in 4wd lo and in 1st gear, and still I eventually had to get pulled out by a ford.
Now it doesnt quite seem the same.
It has always been a great truck, and now I regret driving it too hard.
well I feel ur pain bud, got sucked in by a snowy ditch and had to have a jeep commander pull out my 2001 Ford Explorer. I learned low gear dont work well with snowy ditches LoL Glad the snow is gone
did you put a lift kit on it and if you didnt do you know what brand that is good for it cause i got a 98 sonoma with only 30 miles on it and i want to jack it up
a 4.3 is pretty big for a v6. people dont realize that. they do drink gas, i had a 4.3 5spd blazer and it sucked gas, worse then my 4.7 Dakota i have now and the dakota would destroy it, no offense to the bowtie boys here
The manual 4.3 in the S10 is EPA rated at 21 highway and the 4.7 in the Dakota is rated at 18 highway. Something had to be wrong with your S10, or you had a heavier foot when driving the S10; whatever it is, EPA ratings don't lie.
a v6 vs. a v8 is two different engines, the v8 cost much more in gas/mileage. But why don't you try a toyota tacoma, also available in 4 doors. I like those trucks, even more the tundra.
Dude whats your mileage like? I bought a 2001 sls ss thinkin I would get good mileage driving back and forth to college, NOT!! Fucking thing is a pig for a small 6cyl. Im starting to, hell I wish I bought the ZR2 for our Canadian winters and mud holes lol :P
the engines have the power. its just weather your willing to unleash it! putting a v8 in the truck would just roast those tires every time you tap on the gas!
Did you check your catalytic system? My ZR2 gradually lost power since two years I have it. I didn't really notice that lost of power. And it recently gave me a DTC trouble code :P0101 Mass air flow. So i modified it by removing all the catalytic stuff, I put a CherryBomb instead of the muffler and I put a O2 sensor simulator on the bank 1 sensor 2. Now it have a LOT of power and sounds real great!!!
nice truck... looks like a lot of fun. i drive an 03 s10 xtreme "heat"... and with the pennsylvania winter goin on right now... i really wish i had 4wd and more than 6" of ground clearance lol.

MAF are easy to clean, but dont use brake fluid, it leaves a film, use electrical contact cleaner and qtips.

can anyone tell me how the 2003 GMC Sonoma SLS 4 door would be on gas? with the engine bein a 4.3L V-6cyl
weightliftin4life 3 years ago
a gmc sonoma 4 door is an alcoholic gas drinker truck, less then a zr2 but still is. A 4.3l drinks alot, you got to really need it to appreciate it.

the gas mileage sucks! I run on 31X10.5or15, they're big and it needs a lot of power to turn those wheels. They should do V8 of these trucks.
But it's lot of fun in mud and snow.
